Detailed Reviews
African Relish accommodated us at the last minute on a busy weekend.
Their cottages are my first choice when staying in Prince Albert - which we do a lot. They are beautifully and tastefully furnished and well equipped with everything you need to make your stay a comfortable and happy one. They also accommodate pets by arrangement with a small surcharge for cleaning - this is important for us as we always travel with our border collie.
We also ordered takeaway pizza from the Chef's Kitchen which are some of the best we've ever had and great value for money.
We'll definitely stay again.

We enjoyed our very brief stay at the Deurdrift cottage, which was very spacious and had a great location just off the Main Road. The Ottolenghi pizza was AMAZING. And really enjoyed the local milk from Gay’s Dairy supplied. Only fault we could find was the complete absence of two-point plug adapters which in our trek down we had forgotten to pack!

The spacious Akkedis and Doringbos cottages are very comfortable, well equipped and beautifully decorated. We especially enjoyed the outdoor braai area at Akkedis where we could relax and socialise while enjoying the view of the beautiful Karoo garden. There is plenty of space for the kids to play outside as well as a small swimming pool to cool off in.

It is always fantastic when you decide to do a last minute weekend away and book something on the spur of the moment and find on arrival that it exceeds all expectations. The cottage is very tastefully decorated and has a wonderful ensuite master bedroom and the kitchen has a lovely country feel to it. We also really enjoyed the garden space where we braaied and star gazed. The location of the cottage is also a plus. We really enjoyed our 3 night stay. Thank you.

Great little town Prince Albert just arrive early on a sat as everything closes early. African relish had everything we needed to self cater, just very little wood so take your own if its cold and you want to make use of the kaggel. The rooms are very spacious and the your surroundings are beautiful Karoo veld.

We were a little confused as had expected to be part of the cooking school complex. Instead we were accommodated in a well appointed bungalow with 2 bedrooms and bathrooms, reception room, kitchen and dining area. It was beautifully appointed and we enjoyed our stay although it was located a little out of the centre. The place had a lot of character but at time of reservation it should have been pointed out that it's not part of the cooking school. A proper (Nespresso) coffee machine would have been a nice addition!

Just on the outskirts of town in a lush Karoo garden you will find this simple, but well equipped cottage. For a quite break or family escape, this is a good option. Close enough to town to stroll to shops and restaurants.

The cottage, on the outskirts of town and with a garden of indigenous fauna, offered a good compromise between countryside and town. Very comfortable bed and spacious rooms; we lived on the sofa on the stoep during the day and into the evening. The staff went out of their way to help. Highly recommend the cottage.

Response from Philip K, Owner at African Relish Cottages

Thank you for reviewing our cottage. We certainly like Akkadis which was first renovated by artist JP Meyer about 11 years ago. Lisa, my wife, together with a young family member did additional renovations to add additional levels of comfort. It has become a favourite for many of our guests. Regards Philip

The character cottage is on the edge of town in a beautifully peaceful spot, 2 minute drive from the centre of P.A. We loved the quirky nature of the cottage, from the pink stoep to the tongue-in-cheek art. The cottage was very clean, well insulated, safe, and comfortable. We loved our stay at Akkedis!
