Lemon tree's owners were beyond accommodating. They shuffled around bookings to make a creative booking possible over Christmas day when most establishments were full and when many would not have bothered to even try.

The owners received us with warm and enthusiasm, showed us around their amazing self-sustainability plot and answered all our hundreds of questions gladly. The accommodation facilities are lovely. The rooms are spacious and absolutely squeaky clean in even the minutest detail.

One thing to note is that the units are not orientated to self-catering. In a small town such as Prince Albert this is a consideration to plan for. Since we had to work around a time of closed restaurants, it took a bit of juggling to deal with fixing up some kind of meal, but luckily we'd somehow anticipated this and were fairly well-prepared. For someone who doesn't intend to self-cater anyway this would be no problem.

The units are private and very quiet. The establishment is on the edge of town and have views towards the Swartberg mountains. Parking is available under cover but it is more convenient to just park in the street, as there seems to be little or no risk in this delightful town.

If warmth and friendliness, comfort and cleanliness is important, you will enjoy this establishment to the full. We certainly were very pleased.

Room Tip: One unit has two rooms with a shared living space in-between. That's a good one to ask for.

Absolutely wonderful two night stay in our quiet self catering cottage. Excellent attention to details. Clean and really well equipped. Lovely garden to wander in and close to all amenities in the village. Charming host too. Highly recommended.

Holiday ruined by this dreadful accommodation. Owner had recently purchased the cottage and began letting it with no proper attention paid to it. Window frames crumbling and didn’t close so mosquito visitations at night. Worse was the breeding colony of huge crickets that infested the place. To sum up, if you prefer really basic accommodation with no creature comforts of any kind, stay here. I couldn’t wait to leave.

When we arrived the hot water lasted about 15 minutes. One wash up and a shower. Thereafter attempted to have a bath . No hot water.
Also there was an infestation of crickets. We complained to the owner who put some poison down for the crickets and gave us a new gas bottle as the one we had was empty. Why it wasn’t checked before we came I don’t know.
The crickets came back after a couple of days.
The bathroom lavatory was leaking with a bowl underneath to catch the leak.
It smelt of drains the whole time so during the day we kept the window open. We did mention this to the owner.
She was always pleasant but this accommodation was sub standard, particularly as the other two places we stayed at at similar prices were excellent.
