#1 of 22 Speciality lodging in Prince Albert
A Luxury Karoo Guest Farm in Prince Albert We offer our guests the opportunity to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Karoo in five-star luxury. Our establishment’s unique location allows visitors spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and a “farm” feel practically in the quaint hamlet of Prince Albert. Mirtehof is perfectly located on the edge of town. Guests wake up to the relaxed ambience of a small working farm, with beautiful views of the surrounding landscape, especially from the stoep. Breakfast is an authentic local affair, enhanced by what is crispy, fresh and tasty from our garden. The Garden had to evoke a feeling of abundance, with beautiful colours, textures and aromas to satisfy the sense Whether you unwind on the stoep, take a walk to visit our donkeys or enjoy some breathtaking birding, there’s always something to do. Mirtehof is also a great base to explore the town and surroundings with an abundance of activities and experiences just waiting to be discovered.

How did we not know of this gem?! Behind the beautiful white walls of Mirtehoff the traveller is greeted by host Jean and an exceptional experience awaits. The attention to detail, from the exquisite artwork to the crispy white linen.... Our rooms were perfect. The staff is well trained and very friendly. The garden is a experience on its own with surprises around every corner. Breakfast was a highlight with the best coffee ad freshly baked scones; and 5 star options for the hungry traveller!, We cannot wait to go again!!

This place is faultless. The attention to detail is incredible - from the considered decor, to the friendly manager and staff, to the wonderful breakfasts. We honestly can say it is one of the best - if not the best - guesthouses we have ever stayed in. My partner and I stayed in the wonderful Prince Albert Suite, which was huge and luxurious, while my mother stayed in one of the garden cottages, surrounded by geese and near the donkeys, which can be watched from the patio before the sun sets and the stars rise. Its hard to put in words how lovely this place it - the garden is incredible, and there are lovely touches, like the honesty bar in the pool suit, so you can help yourselves to a chilled beer while enjoying a dip. The breakfast included delicious home made fresh scones and they will also book you a dinner in the town which is just down the road. Our only regret is that we only stayed one night - we could have lingered there for much longer.

If you are staying in the area - look no further. Everything was immaculate - Room/setting/view/garden/breakfast/Service. The superb breakfast on the terrace watching the birds feeding in the garden was a highlight. Our only regret was we did not stay longer.

A room impeccably furnished with attention to detail and comfort. A treat in interior decorating of taste and quality. Allow time to enjoy an art collection of great diversity and beauty. But the lasting impression will be the garden, and that in the arid Karoo! Overwhelmingly beautiful, practical and a source of fruit, vegetables and herbs. We were lucky to have Stevan, one of the owners in attendance to show us around. His pride and joy in the property were infectious, but well justified. The germ of Prince Albert, if not the Karoo. Final impression: "We'll have to come back one day!"

This oasis in the arid Karoo truly offers a genuine 5 Star experience. An immaculate property with exceptional service and attention to detail. The gardens offer a tranquil haven to recharge your batteries. The breakfasts are truly special. Mirtehof compares with the best I have experienced, including international travel.
