A Luxury Karoo Guest Farm in Prince Albert We offer our guests the opportunity to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Karoo in five-star luxury. Our establishment’s unique location allows visitors spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and a “farm” feel practically in the quaint hamlet of Prince Albert. Mirtehof is perfectly located on the edge of town. Guests wake up to the relaxed ambience of a small working farm, with beautiful views of the surrounding landscape, especially from the stoep. Breakfast is an authentic local affair, enhanced by what is crispy, fresh and tasty from our garden. The Garden had to evoke a feeling of abundance, with beautiful colours, textures and aromas to satisfy the sense Whether you unwind on the stoep, take a walk to visit our donkeys or enjoy some breathtaking birding, there’s always something to do. Mirtehof is also a great base to explore the town and surroundings with an abundance of activities and experiences just waiting to be discovered.

The attention to detail in this immaculate curated guest farm raises the benchmark for every other guest lodge (even globally). Fantastic rooms (most comfortable bed ever), breathtakingly beautiful garden, excellent food. Not a single aspect of this property and our stay that was less than ideal.

We were given a warm friendly welcome by Jomari when we recently stayed at Mirtehof Guest Lodge in Clyde cottage which is charming, extremely comfortable with everything one could need thoughtfully in place.
The bathroom is brilliant with a huge built in dressing table, bath and walk in shower. Breakfast on the patio overlooking the lush lawn and garden was outstanding with perfectly cooked bacon and eggs and then hot scones and delicious crunchies. Then a walk through the gardens which are beyond beautiful with flowers and herbs in full flush. You must walk through the tunnel archways of jasmine and aromatic flowering basil. I loved the dripping bird fountain. Our stay was a complete treat. One night is too short to appreciate it all. Thank you Jomari and all the staff.

This is the only place to stay in Prince Albert! Beautiful location with outstanding gardens. The accommodation was so comfortable and had everything we required including good wifi and a spacious ensuite bathroom. The breakfasts were delicious with home made scones and jam, fresh fruit salad, home made muesli, natural yoghurt and an excellent cooked breakfast. We will definitely be back again next year.

From the moment you enter the gates of the property you know that you've arrived somewhere special. From the spotless and well furnished rooms, to the beautiful gardens, the sounds and smells of nature, the variety of fruit trees and the hospitable, caring service, this is truly an oasis. Jomarie goes out of her way to cater to your every need and the entire property has an air of calm and elegance. The views from the chalets take in fields of animals and beyond them the rugged mountains of the Karoo. All in all a place that I would return to without hesitation.

The town of Prince Albert is small and distant. It has plenty to explore, nature wise, and a few amenities. Their museum is excellent and the mountains just to the south are magnificent. A geological dream.

The accommodation at Mirtehof is outstandingly comfortable ( it should be for the price!) but the kitchen only does breakfast. For evening meals it is a stretch to find really good food but there are a few spots worth trying: the Karoo Kombuis is the most authentic and charming restaurant serving 'boerekos'...

I can recommend the comforts of Mirtehof but bring your own soap, theirs is minute and will not be replaced tomorrow. You also pay in advance of your stay (on arrival) which is a bit strange considering the five stars - maybe they've had a few fly-by-nights...

An excellent hotel in an excellent location with excellent management. The rooms are very comfortable, catering for one's every need; batroom is spacious and the entire hotel is elegantly decorated with well manicured gardens.

Mirtehof Guest Farm is a little oasis in the desert of the Karoo. Our companion said that the tranquillity in the mornings, watching beautiful Southern Red Bishop birds, Turtle Dove, LBJs and Cape Weaver birds coming to the bird- feeder must be a "foretaste of heaven"!
Bird viewing followed by a delicious home-made breakfast with the most exquisite table-settings was the icing on the cake!
Prince Albert is only a short drive away and has a good choice of restaurants for supper.
Jomari made us feel very welcome and comfortable during our stay. We would love to visit again!

We stayed here for 4 nights over Christmas and it was the best place I have ever been. The breakfasts are excellent. They not only provided excellent customer service but went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Lunches were served direct from the food growing in the farm, lovely salads and fruit! All so delicious. The whole vibe was really chilled and relaxing. A perfect getaway for a family or a coupe.

A true stunning B&B in Prince Albert, I wouldn't stay anywhere else if i was visiting the area. Staff were amazing, big farm fresh breakfast. The little details all over the farm makes it extraordinary accommodation. We stayed in the Prince Albert Suite, fresh lavender on your pillows and towels, bed was comfy, room spacious, large bathroom, nestled in spectacular colourful fruit orchids and blooming gardens. Lots of bird life, making your stay very tranquil. Perfect for a 3 night stay. 5 stars - high recommended

We stayed for four nights and could have stayed for four more! Beautiful garden, lots of birds, a constant donkey movie in front of our cottage any time of the day. Many secluded corners in the garden to disappear to. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated, the sheets soft, everything you could want. The breakfast menu varies daily and is fresh and beautifully presented. Every element of it. Jean, the manager/host was most helpful. It seems like people in Prince Albert support each other and each has their specialty. Mirtehof shines brightly in this Karoo town.
