This was our 8th time in this beautiful spot, which speaks for itself! Especially after the long and extremely exhausting pandemic period, it was like coming home. Mark and Julia are great hosts who, as always, welcomed us warmly and made sure that you want for nothing. During the years we have stayed in 3 different apartments, Ivy, Thyme and Angelica, and all are very well equipped and lack for nothing! We also enjoy the daily cleaning and laundry service every time. A big thank you to Ann-Marie and Caroline who again looked after us so lovingly. Every time we enjoy so much spending time in the beautiful garden overlooking the mountains. And every time we find it harder to leave this place again. Hope to come back as soon as possible!!
We spent a romantic 5 days enjoying the tranquility and luxury at this very discreet venue. The heated pool and special interiors were a treat and the staff excellent. Definitely returning! We booked for 3 days but loved it so much we extended our stay.
We stayed at the Taragon for 16 nights and I wanted to stay longer. Mark and Julia, the owners made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Our unit was nicely decorated and maintained. The kitchen had everything I needed and plenty of crockery and a large fridge freezer. The unit was very clean and fresh linen was supplied every third day. Pool towels were also supplied. Caroline and Ann Marie took care of the cleaning and did an excellent job. There is a laundry room which was a great asset. Washers and dryers readily available for guests use. The garden and pool area was beautiful. Views were breathtaking and lovely sun beds and umbrellas for guests comfort. We couldn’t fault the Tarragon and we both felt extremely safe and secure. Already booked for next year.......cannot wait!…
Beautiful hide out with amazing views. Mark is a great host. Feels like home and you don’t want to leave this place… A real jewel - away from Cape Town but close enough to explore it. Fantastic snorkeling places in the area and stunning views at Chapman’s peak.
Our stay at The Tarragon was one of the best I’ve experienced in Cape Town. The cottage was stylishly decorated, fully equipped, spotless and a stone throw away from a sparkling pool! The owners, Mark and Julia were lovely and accommodated our early check-in time without any hassle. This beauty in Hout Bay is perfectly located for visiting Constantia’s famous restaurants and vineyards as well as Camps Bay beach. Overall a wonderful experience and hopefully to be repeated soon.
As a South African living in Dublin and an avid international traveller, The Tarragon did not dissapoint. It was clean, neat and decorated to high standards. I enjoyed the tranquility and outstanding views. There is a well kept pool and lovely garden. The kitchen is well equipped and we had a private BBQ area.
We recently spent a night at the Tarragon, and it exceeded all expectations. From the crystal blue pool overlooking the Hout Bay valley , to the beautifully furnished rooms and Koi pond - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Every detail made you feel at home and relaxed. Will definitely be returning soon!
We enjoyed the hospitality from The Tarragon team during our latest trip to the Cape. It is now the 7th time we have stayed in The Tarragon and as always, it doesn’t disappoint. Mark and Julia plus their entire team make you feel comfortable and welcome at all times. Very friendly and helpful staff, outstanding service. The premises are well maintained, house and apartments are from highest standard. If you look for a relaxed holiday, this is the place to be. Early in advance booking is required and a must. We are looking forward to our next holidays.
We stayed at the Tarragon for three weeks in February this year. We've been there several times before, each time we stay longer than the last and this time it was for three weeks. At the time of booking we were slightly anxious that we would be bored. We weren’t. In fact the extra time encouraged us to spend time on the property- more swimming, enjoying the lovely gardens, reading, we had scrabble but never got round to it - too competitive! Tarragon is serviced by a team of three ladies and two gardeners and a more helpful, hard working and nice group of people you could not wish to meet. Mark and Julia, who own the Tarragon provide excellent leadership and set the relaxed tone. One huge bonus is that the ladies will do laundry (for a small fee) which means that less luggage is needed. There are five cottages ranging from 2x 1 bedsitting room, 2x two bedroom and one three bedroom. We always stay in the same one (lucky us) but we have toured all of them and I would be happy in any. They’re are all elegant, have modern kitchens, & barbecue and provide a setting for Mark and Julia’s excellent taste in wall art, prints and paintings. I really could take home several.... Shopping and food are at the very well stocked Spar five minutes drive away in Oakhurst. two restaurants are found five minutes drive away. Massimos is an excellent Pizza restaurant, lively, family orientated- nearly always fully booked, does take aways and the more upmarket Quentins, just behind is also very popular. Five minutes in a different direction is La Parada with good food, wine and beautiful views. Shopping Malls are close by. I don't know why I do this, one day I won’t be able to book, it will be so popular. All sorts of people stay at Tarragon from young families to us older people. Somehow it attracts very nice clientele. The cottages are spaced out, the gardens are large, it never feels crowded and the sparkling pool is large by S African standards. If you read this and book, I hope that you enjoy it as much as we do. Oh and most of the Western Cape sights are within an easy day trip n…
We have just returned from 10 nights atThe Tarragon,we stayed in Saffron which had a large sunny private terrace and just a few steps down to the beautiful pool with stunning views. Mark was a great host, recommending restaurants to go to and was very helpful. You felt very safe there and it was a great location to get to all the wonderful restaurants in Constantia or down to the beach at Hout Bay. We will definitely be returning next time we are in South Africa.
