The recently restored Hout Bay Manor offers 16 individually designed en-suite rooms and a sophisticated EAT Restaurant, protected by century-old oak trees, was built from stone (600mm thick walls) and in traditional Cape Colonial style by Jacob Trautmann on an unspoiled piece of land, which had previously been part of the Kronendal Estate.

Beautiful setting, worst service ever experienced in our lives. Our waitress, who ignored us and gave us attitude when we asked for the wi-fi password, had the nerve to tell us how much we should tip her as she is experiencing financial difficulty?! She was chatting away to another table and clearly lost track of what she was there for. When that table eventually left, the discomfort on the people's faces were all too evident. She then turned to our table and started talking in an accent of sorts, very flirtatiously with the men at the table. We all know that times are tough, but to openly solicit people in this manner is in bad taste and unacceptable!

We stayed 2 nights and truly enjoyed our stay. The room had all the amenities we needed. The bed was quite comfortable. We like the restaurant. The staff was so kind and attentive. Their is parking out front with a security attendant. Please know that there are only stairs, no elevator, in case you have mobility issues.

Really excellent, and would recommend. Staff very friendly, and room quite large with balcony. Food was very good, and extremely good value. Location for us was perfect but you really need a car. Around 300 m from beach.

We stayed at Hout Bay Manor a total of 5 days in February (3 days then back for 1 night to/from our safari). We loved the country manor vibe of the hotel and also its small size. It is located in a quiet residential area with a lovely patio and pool area. It is easy walking distance to town (down the path) and the beach which is a plus. Breakfasts were very good and we liked being able to have a nice dinner at the hotel. The rooms are large and very comfortable. In the past we have stayed in Camps Bay or Cape Town. After staying in Hout Bay, we will definitely stay here again. It is close enough to the action of Camps Bay and Cape Town that we could uber there for dinner or activities and then come back to the peace and quiet of Hout Bay Manor. This is a hidden gem.

Just a lovely stay with great food and people. The staff were very attentive and hotel itself is just a trip with the art work and lay out. We enjoyed the time very much and will come back.the location is also very good as it’s close to Cape Town and in the middle of a nice Hout Bay are.

Unfortunately when we arrived our room was not ready. Front desk reception was very poor. When we went down to the bar for a drink in the evening there was no one to serve us, so we left and went to nearby restaurant ..The best part about our stay was the swim in the delightful pool and the breakfast as well as the service thereof was excellent, as were the waiters.

The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms quite comfortable. However, we ran into a number of issues with poor service, being ignored, and generally feeling unwelcome by front desk, housekeeping, restaurant and bar staff during our three-night stay. It may be that we just fell prey to successful marketing, where the pictures looked great but overall staff training and service couldn't back up the promise of how things appeared online. Or it may be because we were a mixed race family of five (white, Brown and Black) and the vibe and culture of this former estate simply couldn't accommodate us as *guests*. It did look like some locals and visitors, all of the them white, were receiving hospitable attention and enjoying themselves. I recommend you stay somewhere else.
