We had the opportunity to stay here for 5 days. Sue and Martin are fabulous hosts and the Hideaway provides a wonderful base, furnished with African art and conveniently located in this quiet residential area, close to the beach. There’s plenty to do locally, but Sue & Martin were always on hand to offer additional suggestions and practical support when one of our group fell ill during the stay. And breakfast on the balcony each morning was a real treat... wonderful food in a tranquil setting over looking the garden/pool. Top tip: download the Uber app before departing. It’s really handy following an evening out in one of the many local restaurants.
We stay at Hout Bay Hideaway regularly as it is just the perfect place for us... great location away from the crowds, yet close to Cape Town, Kirstenbosch, Constantia, Chapman's Peak and the Cape Peninsula. The house is private, charming and friendly, managed by the most wonderful hosts, and the rooms are stylish and comfortable. Highlight of the day is the breakfast served on your terrace... it won't get any better. Not to forget the lovely garden and pool. We can't wait to be back next year.
We stayed for 4 nights in Sue & Martin's guesthouse. The hosts welcomed us very warmly, were always helpful and attentive and provided us excellent tips on our excursions or restaurant recommendations. They were as well very open with kids. Breakfast in the morning was served in our garden with always just the freshest ingredients used (bread, cereals, fruits, eggs, etc). Location of the guesthouse is approx. 30min outside of Cape Town in calm residential area. We will definitely come back to Hout Bay Hideaway once back in Cape Town area. Thank you Sue & Martin for this memorable stay in your cosy place!
Martin and Sue are wonderful hosts, and our 10-day stay in the garden suite was lovely. We preferred the Haut Bay location to being in town--there is wonderful hiking nearby and good restaurants. Visits to Chapman Peak Drive, the Kirstenbosch Gardens, and the Cape of Good Hope are more easily accomplished from here, and Haut Bay is much quieter than town itself. Probably I would stay in one of the upstairs suites if I came again, but the Garden Suite downstairs was cool and pleasant.
We spent a few days at the Hideaway and really enjoyed it. We stayed in the Apartment which is very cosy and private. The hosts, Sue and Martin, were very welcoming, helpful and attentive. We enjoyed having a delicious breakfast served on the terrace every morning and the garden/swimming pool area is very charming and relaxing. It's also very well located with shops and restaurants within walking distance. We'd definitely come back to the Hideaway and recommend our friends and family to stay there.
We have just spent an idyllic 4 nights at the Hideaway. The house is situated in a tranquil residential area, within walking distance of many restaurants but is also just 25 mins away from the bustling Cape Town city centre. It is stylishly decorated with a mixture of African tribal art and Art Deco furniture. We stayed in the garden room which was very comfortable, with double doors opening on to a veranda, where a delicious cooked breakfast with cereals and pastries was served every morning. Martin and Sue were lovely....perfect hosts, with many suggestions for restaurants and things to do locally. We would throughly recommend the Hideaway....in fact we are already thinking about our next visit.
Sue & Martin have somehow got everything right. Gorgeous rooms, excellent but so friendly service, everything you could wish for away from home. The location is just right away from the crowds, lovely views but convenient to all the places you want to visit. We would definitely want to return to Hout Bay Hideaway when visiting S.A again.
Yet another return to this lovely B&B. Sue and Martin are wonderful and attentive hosts and the rooms are all excellent. This time we stayed in the Garden Room facing the garden (No!Really?). Very pretty and quiet. Beautifully presented and plentiful breakfast on the balcony We like Hout Bay. Less frantic than Camps Bay and with much more charm. Thanks guys. Expect further visits from us in the future.
Sue and Martin have created a truly wonderful hideaway - it feels tucked away and tranquil whilst being in easy reach of all that Hout Bay and Cape town have to offer. Wonderful accommodation, beautiful rooms and extremely comfortable beds with excellent en-suites. Breakfast on the balcony was a joy every morning with an amazing selection of fruit, pastries and cooked dishes. Sue and Martin were superb hosts throughout the stay. Would recommend it to anyone.
The name tells it all. Situated on the slope on the mountain it’s far enough from the noisy main road but still so near that in five minutes by walking you can reach the beach and the restaurants. (getting back it takes a little bit longer 😉)Rooms are well maintained and clean. And the owners helpful and kind. Breakfast is served on your balcony and it’s both esthetically and culinary well designed. Can really be recommended.
