This beautiful B&B, owned by British couple Sue & Martin, makes a wonderfully peaceful home from home. You can spend your days relaxing by the tropical garden pool, or head out to discover markets, shops, restaurants and sprawling beaches. You can even take a soak in the alfresco bathtub, if you like, where you can star-gaze with a glass of rosé! This place has it all - a beautiful garden, delicious breakfasts and a relaxed, kick-your-shoes-off feel, that could only come from staying in a home rather than a hotel. We felt ourselves unwind as soon as we arrived. The Hideaway is the kind of place where you could happily spend lazy days doing very little, but it’s also an excellent base for exploring Cape Town and the vicinity - and that’s exactly what we did most days, fresh…
We last stayed at the Hideaway when we visited Cape Town in 2016 and our return trip did not disappoint! The hotel is as beautiful and tranquil as we remembered, and we enjoyed having the opportunity to experience more of the local eateries and beaches in Hout Bay itself this time around. We loved the decor and the rooms are so spacious - not to mention hosts Sue and Martin who we could not speak highly enough of. Truly a little piece of paradise away from the hustle and bustle of the city - already looking forward to our third stay!
We stayed her for the first time, accompanied by my daughter and son-in-law who had stayed previously. What a comfortable, stylish and welcoming place. Martin and Sue (our hosts) could not have been more accommodating and their attentive yet discrete service was second to none. The rooms are all lovely, so one couldn’t be disappointed whichever was allocated. We will definitely be back for more of the same. Thanks Martin and Sue, so much.
We had the opportunity to stay here for 5 days. Sue and Martin are fabulous hosts and the Hideaway provides a wonderful base, furnished with African art and conveniently located in this quiet residential area, close to the beach. There’s plenty to do locally, but Sue & Martin were always on hand to offer additional suggestions and practical support when one of our group fell ill during the stay. And breakfast on the balcony each morning was a real treat... wonderful food in a tranquil setting over looking the garden/pool. Top tip: download the Uber app before departing. It’s really handy following an evening out in one of the many local restaurants.
We stay at Hout Bay Hideaway regularly as it is just the perfect place for us... great location away from the crowds, yet close to Cape Town, Kirstenbosch, Constantia, Chapman's Peak and the Cape Peninsula. The house is private, charming and friendly, managed by the most wonderful hosts, and the rooms are stylish and comfortable. Highlight of the day is the breakfast served on your terrace... it won't get any better. Not to forget the lovely garden and pool. We can't wait to be back next year.
