This house is a bit special, all the rooms were individual and beautifully furnished with great attention to detail, very big comfortable beds and even a cute kitchenette. We started in Sentinel which was great but then moved to Bay View which became available because, well, it had a bay view! Both rooms had their own terrace where breakfast was served at a time to suit yourselves which suited us being a pair of sleepy heads.
Fruit, yogurt pastries, cereals plus cooked to order made lunch a late affair.
Run by Sue and Martin a couple of Tykes from Sheffield a warm and friendly welcome is guaranteed.
We will return.

We booked away for our minimoon/local honeymoon if you will at Hout Bay Hideaway the oast December 2021, and what an awesome stay it was. Even though we weren't able to go overseas as initially intended, we could not have chosen a better place to spend our first mini vacay away as husband and wife. Sue and Martin are so welcoming and by far the kost accommodating hosts you will come across. The rooms were immaculate, spacious and oh so bright and airy! We stayed in the Bay Room and the view of mountians on either side and the water peeping in between was like a real life painting. Definitely a return stay for us!

The Hout Bay Hideaway is located in a quiet exclusive residential area. The house is beautiful with antique furnishings and is spotless clean. The hosts Sue and Martin were wonderful making our stay memorable. We had the pool view room which was lovely over looking the tropical gardens and pool which was lovely for a swim. We had breakfast served on our private balcony which was fabulous with delicious cereal, fresh fruits, yogurt and lovely cakes. Everything was excellent you won’t be disappointed if you stay here.

We spent two nights at the start of our trip here in Hout Bay. As with the best b&bs we could easily have spent longer. Cape Town is an easy Uber ride away and the lovely Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens are just around the bay. Our room was fabulous: so quiet and with a beautiful view towards Hout Bay harbour. Breakfast was a delicious spread of cereals, fruits, yoghurt, pastries, fresh breads and eggs & bacon if you still had room. Great tea and freshly ground coffee in the room plus a lovely bottle of wine chilling in the fridge. This would make a great alternative to staying in central Cape Town. Thank you Sue and Martin for such a welcome start to our holiday.

We were newly arrived from the UK and the Hideaway was a splendid start to out trip. Lovely spacious room with a veranda. Small kitchenette to make drinks and a microwave. Martin and Sue are very welcoming, full of local knowledge and very keen to make sure your stay is the best. Lovely breakfasts
on the veranda. If all our stopping places are like this then we shall have a great stay in South Africa.

We loved Sue and Martin's kind hospitality when we were staying here last week. Their house is so beautiful, and it was wonderful to come back to the views of the mountain and the stunning garden from our terrace at the end of the day. They were generous with great recommendations and advice, and their thoughtfulness made us feel like we were staying with friends.

We very much hope to be able to come back and stay again.

THBH turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. It is located in a gorgeous peaceful setting and our room back onto a truly lovely garden, pool and mountain setting. Martin and Liz made us feel that nothing was too much trouble but were also very good at ensuring that we had space and privacy. A difficult balancing act in a boutique setting. It was perfect - their hospitality was wonderful, as expected from natives of Sheffield!! Breakfast on the deck overlooking the garden perfect. We were able to park our car off road and security was spot on. Very hard to fault this experience - perfect hots ans such a very special setting. Thank you, Martin and Liz.

Sue and Martin were such warm, wonderful hosts. That alone is a reason to go back. The bedrooms open up onto a veranda with beautiful views of the bay and distant mountain. Ours was spacious, light, very clean, with kettle, cutlery and crockery provided. There was also a safe.
You have your breakfast on the veranda, so it's a calming way to start the day.
My wife has food issues, but this was no problem at all for Sue who was very accomodating.
Martin is a font of knowledge who loves drawing guests maps of places to go to.
I would definitely recommend the Hout Bay Hideaway.

This was a real find for us, we stayed at some wonderful guest houses but this was the best. We couldn’t rate it highly enough.
A warm and friendly welcome from Sue and Martin who guided us with good advice when we asked for it.

We stayed in the Bay View which had its own private veranda where a lovely breakfast was served each day in the warm sunshine.

My wife and I had an excellent stay at the Hout Bay Hideaway. The house is beautifully furnished in a "colonial heritage" style. We had the smallest of the three rooms, but this was still of generous size and well equiped, including en suite bathroom and kitchenette. Our room was at the rear of the house and we really benefitted from the veranda overlooking the green hill side garden; it was an extension to our room where we enjoyed breakfasts and sun-downers. Sue and Martin were very good hosts; friendly, knowledgeable and helpful at all times. This was our first visit to the property and we would definitely return. Recommended 100%.

Hi - how far is this from Hout Bay? Must you have a car? Can you walk to the beach? Thank you!
Answer from Martin C

Hi, Thank you for your enquiry, The Hideaway is very near the center of Hout Bay, it is a walk of just over 5 minutes to the beach and restaurants, it may take a couple of minutes more to walk back as we are on a hill ! A car is useful for visiting some of the major attractions of Cape Town and the Peninsular but not necessary. I hope this answers your questions, Kind regards, Sue, The Hout Bay Hideaway.
