Detailed Reviews
I was very lucky to spend the weekend at Tinstwalo with my husband this weekend. It was absolutely magical! The setting must be one in a million. It is completely private set at the bottom of steep Chapmans Peak along the waters edge. The 12 suites are completely separate and private and have the most incredible view of the ocean. We stayed in Ithaca which is right at the end so we felt even more private and we overlooked a beautiful milk wood tree. Wasking up to the sound of the waves was amazing. The service is impeccable- friendly staff and wonderful attention to detail. We loved the turn down service after dinners and the array of teas we could choose from every evening in our room. The head chef, Thando, creates some of the most sublime food. Simple but full of flavour and always with an interesting touch. We enjoyed the braai on the Friday evening and although I am vegetarian, there was so many delicious dishes on offer. The malva pudding must be one of the best I have ever tasted! The breakfasts were out of this world too and the waiters are very attentive. We certainly ate like Kings! We went on a spectacular run along Chapmans Peak the one morning, enjoyed walking along the idyllic and untouched beach and also swimming in the heated pool. The experience was unbeatable- I can highly recommend a stay for a special treat.

Tintswalo is ideally located right on the shore line. The scenery is beautiful and the rooms comfortable. The service was good - Vuyo looked after us very well, attentive but not intrusive.
The big let down was the food. Top end prices but stodgy croissants at breakfast and dinner was beautifully presented but the quality was pretty average. We chose to go there for our wedding anniversary and they asked if the stay was for a special occasion. Not sure why as they dud an excellent job of not acknowledging it in any way. Most resorts in this category would make an effort to at least acknowledge the occasion.
They also have a lovely heated pool which we enjoyed on the first day. Unfortunately a group of 8 guests comandeered it in the second day with their drinks and ice buckets so the size of the area precluded the rest of the guests from being able to enjoy this facility.
Their cocktails and canapés in the evening was enjoyable and a lovely touch. I do think that Tintswalo relies too heavily on their location and forgets some of the small touches.

We loved it! This was beyond a 5 star experience. The staff are so friendly, the rooms and bathrooms beautiful, the beds super comfy and then the view! Wow! Can only be described as spectacular! Can’t think it can be beaten. The complimentary bottle of wine, Illy coffee machines, canapés and bubbly every evening are a lovely touch. We ate at Chef’s Warehouse one evening. The food was great (but a little expensive) A different menu is available to guests staying there - who could eat the full menu every night anyway? Breakfast was great, lovely fresh juice and fruit, crispy croissants and pastries. We hope to visit again...soon.

Thoughtfully built on the side of Chapmans Peak at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, Tintswalo had a beautiful location. The location is mesmerising.
The suite was stunning. We could watch the sea from our balcony sat on our swing chair. The bathroom was immaculate with Africology products and the perfectly placed bath overlooking the sea. The bed was a Superking size bed and very comfortable.
Breakfast- a continental breakfast, with a choice of a full breakfast or eggs benedict. Freshly squeezed orange juice. Room service with no additional cost was a thoughtful gesture.
Dinner: there is a choice of tapas and an a carte dinner menu. The tapas was excellent with a variety of flavours from the sea and land. The menu is the same every night so you may choose to dine outside.
Service: Exemplary. The staff felt like our mini family! Dominique and Simphiwe had a great fun attitude during their drives between the car park and hotel (3 min drive). Patrick and Jonathon worked hard to ensure that we were cared for. General manager Melissa took the time to chat with us and was obviously respected by her staff (stories of how she helped them). The girls in reception were efficient and friendly. All the staff were amazing!
Day trips: Cape Town itself, table mountain and Robben Island
Boulders bay and Simons Town
Constantia, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek
Hotel hires drivers for a day 650 rand an hour (Dominique was great fun to travel with-he even hiked cape point with us!).
Uber and bolt easily available for trips to Cape Town. We found all to drive us around with no issues.
Tips:
Canapes given out around 5pm with complimentary drinks
Definitely opt for breakfast in bed at least once
Plunge pool is heated
If you want a driver it is worth booking in advance
The Atlantic sea is cold!
You have to pay to see the boulders penguins on the beach but you can spot them for free on the walkway
We enjoyed Simons town
Hout Bay market is free transfers and a very local experience
Bistro68 was a lovely dinner alternative on Steenberg Farm
Overall an amazing trip and we would love to return

My sister and I went to Tintswalo Atlantic for a break. We were blown away. The lodge's situation on the edge of the sea is across the bay from Hout Bay. It's situated on Chapman's Peak Drive and it's a steep drive down to the lodge. Not to worry -- you park just off Chapman's Peak Drive and are taken down by minibus to this gem among the fynbos. There are (I think) only 8 or 10 suites. We loved the countless ways that shells and other bits were used as decoration in the suites and the dining areas. The suites are to die for, with views on to a kelp jungle, and with Hout Bay's "hanging mountain" across the lovely bay. The staff is extremely friendly. On arrival you are given a short tour of the premises and are then presented with a lovely cocktail until they take you to your rooms. The sound of the sea crashing against the rocks and pebbles are great music to go to sleep by! We had the "Tapas" menu for dinner, but "tapas" is a bit of a misnomer, as this menu consists of 8 small fine-dining dishes rather than ordinary tapas! By the time we reached small plate no 6 I was already full, but the last 2 delicious little dishes just had to be eaten! I cannot believe that among the reviews there were complaints! We had a wonderful time and I slept like a baby. Every suite (bedroom and bathroom huge enough to turn into a large apartment!) is completely private, and in the night all I heard was the song of the sea. An absolutely delightful place to unwind and eat the finest foods. I took many photos, but on their website are already countless photos of this 5 star lodge. A really special getaway (and there is a heated pool).

A lovely romantic place for couples, location is the highlight, also love how they have taken advantage of the location, for example, having a swing and relaxing area literally in the ocean, the resturant deck is unforgettable in terms of the views etc. The service staff are great, the room is a lovely size and the bathrooms are unforgettable with a view that is unseen before .... Cleanliness is key and visible everywhere, including the property itself.
Chefs warehouse, the quality of the food was awesome, however, personally, we like a combination of the simple stuff with the fancy stuff, so the menu appears a bit inflexible, for example, no pizza or toasted sandwiches or pancakes for breakfast ... however, if you request these to be made, the kitchen is fairly accomodating. The specific spa room for treatments needs an uplift, it really does not compliment the general ambience of the property and rooms and the treatments are quiet expensive. Apart from listenning to the waves while you have your treatments (which is priceless) you also want to feel like you in an exclusive place having a treatment.

Tintswalo are blessed with one of the best views in South Africa, the ocean, the mountain and the most amazing sunsets. Each room has an unique theme and decoration with an balcony on the ocean. The inhouse dining offers an fine dining experiece in the small romantic restaurant. The nicest thing about coming to Tintswalo is that you can enjoy your weekend here without having to travel anywhere. The latest edition to their remarkable offer is the hotpool on the beach.

This is such a special place to unwind. It will be a challenge to find a better location than this to have a well deserved break. The views of the bay from your balcony are amazing with the waves crushing only meters away. Suites are luxurious and decorated tastefully. We stayed in Cousine with the turquoise Seychelles theme which was quite fitting for the setting. Food in the restaurant was great with the a delicious small plates menu catering for every choice. The small menu does get a bit boring after day two. It is great for a special meal but we found it a bit pricey and boring for a longer stay. However which lacked at a lodge with only 10 suites to take care of was the personal touch. Although all staff were friendly, after 5 days nobody knew who we were. Check-in was impersonal and we did not feel welcomed at all. We celebrated our anniversary which was clearly stated on our checkin forms but was never acknowledged. I ordered some flowers beforehand which arrived the day after our actual celebration. Small things like running out of soap and toiletpaper, the dustbin not cleaned, not replacing sugar and our tv not working for 3 days just did not add up to the 5 star experience we expected. Nonetheless we enjoyed our stay immensely, feeling rested and relaxed when we headed home. We will certainly return one day hoping the service wil be stepped up a notch which will make this a six star establishment.

Located at the foot of the slopes of Chapmans Peak in the shores of the Atlantic … I mean literally a meter from the waves.
Upon arrival at the gate one is directed to a parking and then greeted by a hotel vehicle that meanders down the steep single lane road to the entrance of the reception. Staff will discretely take one’s luggage to an adequately specked room at the edge of the sea while booking in.
Upon arrival at the room one is immediately bowled over by the serenity of the room located metres from the shore disturbed only by the sound of waves rippling over the sea washed pebbles. Dinner is a relaxed affair stressed somewhat by the overwhelming choice of stages of the menu. Was delicious on both occasion we ate there
We stayed I my one night but next time will do two so as to get a complete day. The room side pool will needs to still be tried out.
Looking forward to returning.
