Very good location in Franschhoek a former french enclave were huguenots took refuge in 17th century, cosy village in the middle of wineries, it must be a very rich area because the restaurants were all fully booked , the only two options were Tuk Tuc a mexican bar ( very poor) and Marilyn Cafe. The resort was quite comfortable with a tiny swimming pool, the walls were poorly sound insulated, in general ratio cost/benefit was not very favourable but could be because it was a pricey area. It should be beautiful to go when lavender blooms because it is immersed in these flowers.

Such a pity you could not get into restaurants ..as there are some world class chefs in our Franschhoek eateries I'm sure my manager would have managed a booking for you at Roca,a beautiful restaurant with a 360 degree view on our wine estate Dieu Donne.Would love you to return when its a bit cooler and lavender in full bloom .We had a smaller pool and have just lengthen our boutique pool to accommodate the pool loungers

My wife and I stayed at Lavender Farm for three nights on our recent tour of South Africa and were blown away by its beautiful location, comfort and service.
Having booked our stay for 2020, our trip to SA was cancelled due to COVID and once again in 2021!
We had made our reservation directly with the venue and the change of dates were dealt with, without any fuss by the magnificent Frauke, who made all the amendments without any fuss and even kept the rates the same as we were quoted for 2020.
On our arrival we were greeted like long lost friends, as we had been in contact so frequently over the last few years, whilst making our revisions to dates.
As we were travelling over our 39th wedding anniversary, we decided to book the honeymoon suite and we were not disappointed. The room was vast, with an open fireplace, which we used each night, a patio and beautifully decorated and furnished suit.
The included breakfast was available in the main building each morning and provided the perfect Start to each day.
Located a short distance from the main centre, it is perfectly located to access a great selection of restaurants, with Reuben’s being our number one recommendation and easy access to the Franschhoek Wine Tram…a must when visiting for a marvellous wine tasting experience around the local Wine farms.
Frauke was available every morning to help with recommendations for daily itineraries and was a fountain of knowledge about what to do and where to go.
We loved our stay at Lavender Farm and were sorry when we had to leave but will certainly stay once again in the future.
Although a minor grumble, with the location of our room being at the furthest point from the main building, the Wi-Fi single was very weak and regularly dropped out…but wasn’t really a major issue.

We found a little piece of heaven at Lavender farm. The fields are so well manicured and are a beautiful view set against the snow-topped mountains. The host is really friendly and I would defo reccomend that that you get a lavender facing room. Rooms were clean and breakfast was delicious. Really close to the main road in town too. I will definitely be back

This is an attractive property with rooms in both the original farm house, and new rooms built around a swimming pool. It overlooks a field of lavender, and beyond are the magnificent mountains which surround Franshoek. We had a good night's sleep on comfortable beds. The rooms are well equipped and the large bathroom had a powerful shower. The breakfast buffet had a good variety of juice and fruit, eggs and pastries. We enjoyed our stay.

Over the years we've stayed here many times but won't be returning. Sadly due to no updated decorating and poor management, this establishment can no longer be considered worth the room rate. (Honeymoon suite R3950 pn). Whilst room very spacious, the bed and its linen were terrible and should be thrown out. Including towels. Old, worn-out, discoloured, smelly and lumpy. We even had to request a sheet change as really didn't want to spend another night in the bed. Then, only a slight improvement! Our small outside garden area wasn't very nice. Overgrown and a few cigarette ends in lawn area. Windows covered in spider webs and nests. Surely just a few minutes with a soft brush could have dealt with the problem. TV wasn't able to tune in and had to request 3 times for assistance. Shower leakage into bathroom floor. No generator for backup with blackouts. Breakfast was very sub standard for a 4* establishment. Nothing special. No pastries, yogurt, cereals selection. Hot breakfast is ordered and when served very unappealing and not much of it. Amongst all of our disappointments was the astonishing condition of the staff's 'uniforms'. Their garments should be put in the bin; old, faded and with many holes and tears. Upon checking out we made our feelings known. We've little confidence that any of our issues will be acted upon. Having witnessed that the hotel was fully booked for 3 nights during our stay, we're assuming that the 'problems' are likely due to poor neglecting management and not financial constraints. Indeed the lovely pool area has been recently repaved, although the new water feature wasn't working. There are very many other 4* hotels in Franschhoek that may well be more deserving of your custom.

We checked into our Luxury Suite which has its outdoor pergola-styled verandah of grapevines and wisteria overlooking the farm's manicured green lawn area and beautiful lavender field.

The Luxury Suites The Lavender Guest House are spacious and elegant and tastefully decorated. It has a stunning en-suite bathroom with a large walk-in shower.

After a day of sightseeing and wine tasting, it is the perfect venue to relax at their beautiful pool area with views to die for or have a sunset picnic with a backdrop of lavender and the majestic views of the Franschhoek mountains.

I highly recommend this property if you are looking for a touch of Provence and romance in the heart of Franschhoek.
Frauke is an absolutely angel and it so delightful meeting someone so friendly and accommodating when you travel!

Thank you for your review, it was lovely having you stay with us. We have addressed the wet wood issue and will definitely look at Coffee machines in the rooms. Recycling and sustainability being our biggest factor in not having done so yet. Hoping to see you again soon.

We arrived and were welcomed warmly by Schalk, to my surprise and disappointment, when reaching the suites no a stem or bouquet of lavender, the view is on the pool facing other rooms. when checking out we wanted to go for a walk and requested Frauker for a late check out or at least a place we could change/shower after it to visit the wine farms she said it was not possible as guests where coming in.
We understood left our bags and when getting back to collect them Schalk being there we requested him for a place to change he immediately offered the room #1 but said we couldn't shower as the geyser wasn't on as it was empty for the week. the breakfast was nice but the room was cold and soul less. No power shedding were told nor the genset started in the night.
The bottom line is that the place being placed like this could easily be improved by a bit more human and deco warmth that i assume won't cost much but could greatly improve customers experience.

Good day, thank you for your review. As we are in the process of re-planting a big part of our field, there are currently no lavender in bloom except for a young block that we don't cut the flowers off at such a young age, As 5 of our rooms were closed for maintenance and minor renovations, we did not have the geyser on. All of our other rooms were fully booked and we had to get them ready for other guests checking in. Our generator does not run between midnight and 6am, Any other time we do run it purely to run our water pumps as we operate on a borehole system, loadshedding is also a very unpredictable phenomenon that was only announced after you had checked in. We always try to be as flexible and accommodating with all of our guests and will definitely address all of your issues. Thank you again for staying with us.

Stayed for one night in the honeymoon suite with my bf and had the most amazing night! It had a fireplace, lounge, and verander overlooking the lavender fields. The service was excellent and the staff were very helpful - great recommendations for restaurants too. It was curfew so everything in the town closed at 8pm so we had an early dinner and went back to the room for wine and cheese by the fireplace. Loved it!

I was very excited to book this property for my trip to the wine country; due to COVID-19, the property had to cancel my reservation. This is understandable. However, over 2 and a half months after the canceled reservation, I continue to wait for a refund from this guest house. Communication has been extremely poor and I am very disappointed with the lack of customer service. Be careful when booking here.... I will be looking for a new place to stay when I am able to replan my trip.

I was there in July and it was in full bloom. Not the purple colour but there was a very nice scent of lavender throughout the farm and our rooms. Maybe a bit better in September? The seasons are reversed in the southern hemisphere.

If you are asking about the setting, I would say yes because the backdrop are mountains. The place is very pretty & the scent of the lavanders is special. It would be a nice location for a small wedding.

Although the town itself is lovely to walk through the whole area would require a car to get around. Trust that you will enjoy your stay in our beautiful country.
