We had informed the hotel that we would be arriving early to get on the 11am Wine Tram and asked if we could leave our bags with them before we left for the day. We arrived at 10am to find that our room was ready for us and we could check in there and then! Stacey showed us round and...

Spent two nights here and we were delighted with the experience from start to finish. If you could imagine a boutique hotel this is it. Everything about it is unique , beautifully and tastefully decorated, the staff were friendly and couldn't do enough particularly Declan . Great location. Need a bike? no problem take the hotel bikes... Need a whisky?...

We came here for a return visit just after New Year and yet again were blown away by the hospitality provided by Declan, Stacy and their team. Accommodation is first class, breakfasts even better than before and there are no hidden extras. They have thought of everything to make a stay perfect from the free laundry service, hats and suncream...

Declan and his team were very accommodating from when we first arrived until we checked out. The suite we stayed was so large and beautifully designed and had everything that you could ever think you need. They thought of everything. The guest house is so beautiful and there are so many peaceful nooks that you could spend all day there...

This wonderful guest house is perfect for whatever you are looking for. A base to explore the wine region or a hideaway to escape hustle and bustle. You can easily walk to anywhere in Franschhoek. It is smallish and the staff is very attentive, friendly and helpful. Our room could not have been more delightful. Lots of light and space,...

We have previously celebrated New Year in Scotland, but this New Year we wanted to try seeing in the new year in the sun. When considering the options we did not hesitate in choosing South Africa, then deciding on Franschhoek, which led us to the automatic choice of the Akademie Boutique Hotel, where we have stayed twice before. Our past...

The room was very spacious, had everything a guest might need including a complimentary mobile phone and was delightfully...

The headline applies to both the Akademie and, to be fair, Franschhoek itself which is a strange Colonial reproduction of French wine country. Some of the best restaurants in the Continent and some of the best wines too lurk an easy walk/tramride from your door. The guest house itself is beautifully furnished in early 20th century style (if your tastes...
