My wife and I were looking for a place near FranschHoek for a long weekend away, together with our dogs. The owners were able to accommodate us in their Garden Room, which has a separate enclosed garden area, so we were able to relax during our time there, knowing that our dogs were safe and could not bother anyone else during meals or while we were relaxing there.
My wife also enjoyed a manicure and a full-body massage at the treatment spa on the premises, all of which contributed to a great weekend for all of us.

This wonderful property dating back to the 17th Century was a memorable place to stay while visiting the Franschhoek area.
It is steeped in history. We could have spent a day or two just enjoying the original furniture and artifacts in and around the buildings.
Our York room was large and comfortable. The staff friendly and very helpful. It is situated well away from the tourist bustle of the town yet close enough for easy access.

We enjoyed a friends and family holiday staying 2 nights at Lekkerwijn. The kids loved the wide spaces, the wooden floors, the pool and trees to climb as well as all the animals. Adults enjoyed the spacious rooms with lots of original furniture. Felt like a step back in time.

The hotel and its rooms where charming. furnished in a style to match the age of the house.
Some modernisation would be good though, particularly a fan or aircon of some sort, it was very hot in the room so did not sleep well.
Breakfast difficult to judge, slow and not all possible because of load shedding.
Maybe some back up poer would be a good thing.

I am rating this a 2 but I feel an explanation is needed. From a historic and beauty point this is a 5 hands down. The building is centuries old and so awesomely beautiful. The wood in the house seems original and the history attached to this house breathtaking.
Unfortunately I am downgrading my score due to the immense neglect and huge "to do list". On the basic end the house is in dire need of paint. On the more advanced end I would rethink a space like the Owl corner, which is beautiful but poorly supported by a leaky odd looking and inappropriate bathroom. There are unused courtyards which could be such great focal points. The garden is clearly not attended to in a very long time. The one thing that also breaks the old Cape Dutch feel is the two welded containers right next to the old building. I am however a huge fan of alternative building methods but this is a big no-no in this context.
This house made me daydream of a lush entrance and a drink under the grapes on the 'stoep'. Then retire to an elegantly decorated room with a creaky wooden floor and a meal in a 17th century dining room.

The manager was sterling! The house is full of history and art, and charmingly decorated in the style of an authentic franschhoek historic country house. Excellent full house breakfast too. The house is under renovation and on its way to becoming stunning wedding venue.
We will be back in a year!

My partner and I attended a wedding at nearby Boschendal, and Lekkerwijn was super-conveniently placed for our purposes.
My only regret is that we were on something of a time budget, having to leave for any early airport run, when we would have loved a leisurely exploration of the beautiful surroundings.
I was blown away by the personal attention showed by staff, especially after Simon offered to personally deliver to me, in Cape Town, some articles of clothing I had left behind.
An overall great experience.

The room and property grounds were very pleasant. Staff was very friendly. Pool was great for cooling off in the heat. Overall I very much enjoyed my stay and would recommend Lekkerwijn to anyone staying in the Franschhoek area!

We had a Hyperli voucher for a 90 minute spa visit that gave us three 30 minute treatments. According to Mark the manager, this could be three different treatments or we could make any of the treatments longer. Unfortunately this wasn't allowed when we had our treatments.
However, the quality of the treatments we did have was very good and good value for money. The masseuses were efficient and friendly and we can recommend the spa.

We had a fabulous four days at Lekkerwijn. We were greeted by Sharon who was very charming and welcoming in fact she was a perfect host in every sense of the word. Unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side so we couldn't enjoy the grounds as much as we would've liked.
Thank you.

The manager can easily order taxis for you. There are a number of local taxi operators, some from Franschhoek and some in Pneil, 5 minutes drive away. One can also join the Wine tram at the top of the Pinoack Drive at Allee Bleue, so no need to drink and drive. The purple route stops there.
