We recently returned from our tenth stay at LQF, which remains our favourite hotel anywhere in the world. As returning guests, we were made to feel especially welcome. Earlier this year we visited France for our annual holiday, visiting Paris and St.Emilion. Nothing we experienced compared to what LQF has to offer. On our recent visit to Franschhoek, we stayed in one of the Four Quarters suites ( number 3 ). Our suite was extremely spacious and airy, tastefully decorated, quiet, and luxuriously comfortable. For a special occasion, I would highly recommend it as it is several notches above your average hotel accommodation. We were celebrating my wife's birthday, which the hotel was informed of prior to our arrival. My wife felt spoiled throughout her stay, and made to feel very special by all staff members we came into contact with, who had all been briefed that we were celebrating a very special occasion. The gardens of the hotel are immaculate and luxuriant, contributing to the overall atmosphere of peace and tranquility. In addition, it has two fine-dining restaurants on-site, Epice and Protege. Earlier this year we dined at Protege, which comfortably outperformed a Michelin 2 star dinner we had in St Emilion in April, but at considerably less cost. As very experienced global travellers, who have been lucky enough to stay at some of the finest establishments the hospitality industry has to offer, LQF remains our global winner. The level of friendliness and helpfulness of every staff member is unique, making you feel truly welcome. Given its convenient situation in the middle of the charming town of Franschhoek, look no further when choosing accommodation in the area. Could not recommend more highly.

We have been staying at Le Quartier Francais for many years, as well as trying other hotels in the area. LQF is simply the best of the best, and is a world class operation. On our last trip we stayed in a petite garden suite, with a private courtyard, and a fireplace for those cold nights in winter. Our room was tastefully decorated, with every amenity you would expect from a top hotel, and a fire was lit in the evening, at whatever time we requested. Breakfast was included in our room rate, and was served at the on-site restaurant, Protege. On our last night we had a fine dining experience with wine pairing at Protege. It was one of the best meals of our life, eclipsing a recent meal at a 2 star Michelin restaurant in St Emilion in France, at a fraction of the price, with every course being absolutely delicious and impossible to fault. The staff at Le Quartier Francais are the most friendly, helpful, and professional you will encounter at any hotel in the world. Nothing is too much trouble. Given its convenient location in the heart of the village as the coup de grace, no other hotel in the area comes close. Highly recommend.

I visited some wineries in Franschhoek in April 2023 however, I did not have an opportunity to stay or shop there. In November 2023, I attended a wedding in Stellenbosch and chose Le Quartier Francais for my stay. I was surprised to learn that my South African friends whose daughter was getting married had their own honeymoon at LQF when they lived in SA and were married years ago. They spoke of it highly and rightly so. The location is secluded away from the main street, yet the main street is readily accessible directly from the hotel. The staff are welcoming and wonderfully helpful. The breakfast at Protege is high quality with chef or fresh buffet options. Snacks also come from the same kitchen and are yummy like the uniquely presented and very tasty avocado toast. I had occasion to enjoy a wonderful wine tasting followed by a magnificent lunch at Protege. The presentation is stunning yet the flavors and tastes of the menu courses prepared and presented is sensational and as good as anywhere, I have seen and eaten. My compliments to the chef and team at Le Quartier Francais. Manny, the guest services manager was extremely helpful as were the check in and guest services staff who arranged transfers to my pre-booked restaurants and other destinations. The pool area is relaxed, the water refreshing yet perfect after the warmth of the sun when lying in the lounge chairs among the trees, looking up at the surrounding mountains. The rooms are quisite with all the amenities one could wish for. A sublime retreat in the heart of Franschhoek.

This is a spectacular property nestled in the heart of Franschoek. The rooms are tastefully decorated with very comfortable beds and large bathrooms. The surrounding grounds of the hotel are also beautiful, well maintained, and felt very calming.

It was my girlfriend’s birthday and the staff managed to source a cake and some flowers, and a donation was made to a charity on her behalf (which was a nice touch!).

We ate at Epice one night (one of the on-site restaurants) and enjoyed a culinary feast.

All the staff were friendly and on hand to help with any requests or bookings we needed to make.

We had an amazing time. Thank you LQF.

Great accommodations, staff, location, and breakfasts. Laundry services are very affordable so if you are like us and travel light it's easy to get your clothes washed and ironed the same day. Wonderful restaurants within a short walk.

We visited this hotel for 3 nights- excellent service from the staff from check in to leaving. The hotel is in the centre of town so everything including the wine tram are a short distance away. A lovely room, more like a small suite, had all the amenities and was of a high standard. Its sister hotel, the Manor House at Leeu estates was well worth visiting for dinner and for personal wine tasting in a lovely location. All in all we would stay there again.

We had a 4 night stay at this Beautiful first class hotel.
Our room was stunning and we loved the little touches that came with it. I have to mention the quality of the bed sheets that were like silk and we enjoyed having Netflix.
Breakfast is also excellent. Our only disappointment was that we couldn’t get to eat in the restaurant despite being residents. I would recommend booking ahead if you would like to eat in the main restaurant which looked like it would be fabulous.
Pool is small but more than adequate for a cool down.
Lovely stay, lovely staff and take a trip to the sister wine estate for a look around and maybe a meal it’s stunning. This is only a short shuttle bus away but you feel like you are away from the world.
All in all excellent.

My goodness, the hotel was fabulous!
Upon arrival, we were greeted so warmly by all members of the staff, and were taken to our fabulously luxurious suite (we were upgraded courtesy of American Express and the hotel). The room was majestic, enormous, and beautifully furnished with its own small garden outside.
The size of the bathroom and toiletries provided were big and generous.
The small grounds that belong to the hotel are beautifully manicured, and the art sculptures amazing. The loungers by the pool were comfortable and well spaced out, and the pool was great to use when it came very hot.
We took breakfast at the protégé restaurant each morning, and the food was delicious, very well presented, and the staff were delightful, chatty, and warm.
For us, it was an oasis of calm in a world that has gone mad.
We would unreservedly return, and cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

After safari in Sabi Sands, we needed some rest as we had been getting up very early and going to bed late. We decided to fly into Cape Town and had asked LQF to get arrange a pick up which they duly did.
The hotel takes about an hour from Cape Town and is at the end of Franchoek high street. We had two adjoining room which were very tastefully decorated and as it was winter, the hotel had put some log burning fires on. i couldn't fault the rooms in that they could have come from any great five star hotel. we stayed for only two nights but the location is excellent. Everything is walking distance from the hotel and the hotel take security very seriously in that there are security personnel outside.
As it was winter the hotel wasn't that busy. Manny and Leonardo were excellent in that they arranged cars for us to get to Del-laire Graff and suggested place to eat. As we are tea total, we didn't try the wine tasting . we found breakfast menu to be somewhat limited but the quality was superb. we dined at Protege and we found the food to be as good, if not better than many places we eat in South Africa, We didn't try Epice as the idea of n courses was a bit much.
A great hotel in the heart of Franchoek.
