Detailed Reviews
I’ve been going to Riverside cottages for over 15 years. We absolutely love it there, my children who are living overseas make it a must to visit riverside cottages when they come visit us. We love the cottages the outside space, the walks through the orchards, and swimming in the river, it’s a real treat every time we want to escape the city, highly recommend

The afternoon was enchanting as we had lunch up the road at my favourite restaurant, I especially chose La Bourgogne as we did not want to spoil the meal by having to travel after, had a late afternoon swim in a really good swimming bath with loungers to soak up the sun, but had a terrible night as the double bed was just too small (I am 6'4").
The next morning I was trying to catch up on some sleep on my own in the bed whilst my lady was up and about and bumped into the manageress who inquired if all was well, she answered that I had a restless night due to the bed and left it at that, when I arose we decided we could not possibly stay another night and phoned the office to request them to make up the bill, as well cancel our reservation for the following night which they undertook to do.
We packed up and just as I was about to go down to the office to square our bill I received a call from the manageress saying that our stay was on the house, apologizing for our poor sleep the previous night. I was totally amazed and shocked at the fantastic response, I cannot commend this establishment enough.

From the moment we arrived the staff at La Bourgogne couldn't do enough for us. From showing us around our pleasant 1 bedroomed cottage and turning on the heaters to make sure we were cosy, to driving us into town one evening to a restaurant. We felt they did everything possible to make our stay a special experience, and we cannot recommend them enough. Even Joe-Joe the dog became our guide when we went for a stroll in the vineyard, of course it helped that we were throwing his favourite stick as well!
The cottage had everything you need, including an open fire in the lounge which was very handy as the weather was quite cool in October. We were encouraged to use the facilities on the vineyard, and we enjoyed the wine and olive oil tasting with Lara.
This was our third visit to South Africa so we are used to the good standard of accommodation and friendly people, and this certainly rates among the top places we have stayed. Thank you.

We spent the weekend in November at La Bourgogne and have also in November 2016 and have always had such a wonderful time. It is peaceful, relaxing, stunning setting and the cottages so beautifully decorated. Lauren the manager is outstanding, friendly, so hospitable and she feels like our best friend who always goes out of her way for the guests. Issie is also extremely helpful, accommodating, friendly and always smiling! We would highly recommend to stay here!

+1
I had the privilege of staying in the Plum Cottage and absolutely loved it. Upon arrival guests are offered complimentary wine tasting and a free bottle of wine in their room. The cottage was very comfortable, beautiful and well-stocked, and the bathroom floor was heated. The fireplace made for a great night in and I was pleasantly surprised that they offered clean-up service. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and very warm! On Xmas morning all guests were greeted with a gift which was very thoughtful. The deli is wonderfully decorated and offers delicious snacks and meals. La Bourgogne was one of the best stays I've had and I certainly recommend it to anyone looking for accommodation in franschhoek!

From arrival to check out, this place is truly amasing. A beautiful little cottage nestled in one of the most lovely places in the Cape.
The big difference however comes with the staff. Nothing is too much effort. Everything is done with a smile and that little bit extra is no problem. Thank you guys for an amasing and relaxing stay. We will definitely be back.

A great place to relax. Nice cottages with a terrace and small garden in front of it. You have a pool to swim on warm days. The dog Joey is everybodys friend and we enjoyed seeing him every morning in front of our cottage.

Riverside cottages are part of La Bourgogne farm a family owned fruit and wine farm. The cottages are very idyllic located by the river that runs through the farn hence the name. So peaceful and quiet. The best cottages to ask for are apple and plum, both are closest to the pool and river. The cottages are very well equipped and if something is missing just ask. The staff are super friendly are helpful. Their farm dogs Joey and Sacha are lovely and will be more than happy to play fetch. Do the wine tasting followed by the cheese platter best follow up ever. Riverside cottages are a must in Franschhoek .

The cottage is very nice and big enough for 2 persons. The management is great, they really want to make your trip a great memory. The pool is in a nice garden setting. The only disadvantage is that you need your car to go to Franschhoek.

Beautiful, peaceful and relaxed venue. We had a mom-dad getaway for 2 days at Riverside. Very cozy self catering set-up. Nice wines and olives - the wine tasting was interesting, and the products from the farm added an extra touch, and so did Issy with her friendly attitude. And the 2 cutest dogs!
