La Chataigne Farm is a wine farm with cottages set 7km outside of Franschhoek Town in the winelands. Our guests have a choice of three quaint Riverside Cottages, set within metres of the Franschhoek River, and two contemporary Stable Cottages with mountain views and private pools. All of our cottages are self-catering with an open plan living area, fireplace, fully equipped kitchen and bbq/braai facilities. The Riverside Cottages have north and south facing veranda's and share The Orchard Pool for hot summer days. The Stable cottages have spacious decks with private pools. All of our cottages offer a tranquil space for a relaxing getaway. Guest are welcome to walk along the river bordering the farm, meander through the vineyards, soak up the sun at the Orchard Pool, enjoy a game of boules at sunset, and pick vegetables and herbs out of the Garden. End off your day relaxing on the stoep (verandah/patio) and sipping on a glass of wine from the very vineyards spread out before you.

Two couples booked a riverside cottage over Christmas. Have absolutely no complaints, the description on the website is what you get. Unfortunately the three days were marred with bad weather, rain and cold winds, so no outside activity. The Braii area is under the patio, so if we wrapped up we could cook. The kitchen was a bit tight and only two comfortable seats in the lounge. There is no TV or games, the two bedroomed cottage is tight for two couples. Would certainly visit again, but book a cottage with private pool.

Beautifully designed little cottage with everything that you could need, done in a simple, clean style. So comfortable that we could have stayed for weeks. Well located just outside Franschoek and near many fine restaurants, the favourite of which we found to The Werf at Boschendal. Richard, Julie and Danny were helpful but unobtrusive and the cottage feels safe, with interesting walks on the farm among the vines and by the river. We will definitely come back.

Wonderful stay! We stayed in a darling cottage that was comfortable and clean. Our family of 4 had a great time at La Chataigne. The property is gorgeous and staff was friendly with great suggestions of things to do and see nearby. We highly recommend this great venue. It is a few miles out of town so you probably need a car when visiting.

We recently stayed in the stand alone cottages on the river, these are well equipped and offer a comfortable environment while catering for the varying weather conditions (fireplace, electric blankets and fans). Staff are friendly and efficient. This is close to Franschhoek and allows you to experience the farm life without being in town.
