I recently stayed in one of the newly converted luxury Stable suites on La Chataigne. With its large private sun/bbq deck and dipping pool it would be great to visit in summer - but my favorite season in South Africa happens to be winter, so instead I enjoyed taking in sporadic rain showers against the glorious view of the Simonsberg mountain and pear orchards while cosied up on the sofa, warmed by the fire (wood provided, and available for purchase). Pure bliss! The suite is very well kitted out to spend time there - including high end kitchen appliances (with a separate wine-fridge, fantastic if you're tasting around Franschhoek and have a nice collection going), dinnerware, and all that's needed to have a very comfortable getaway. Sleeps two and has a cosy king sized bed,…
We had such a relaxing 2 night stay at La Chataigne. We were greeted by the very friendly Louisa who showed us around the property and made sure we settled into the cottage. This is definitely a great spot to escape the busy city for a weekend and still be close to the charming town of Franschoek and it’s amenities. The property has everything you’d need and has a well designed kitchen area with everything you could need. Although it is winter, the property has a stunning pool in a vineyard clearing overlooking the beautiful Franschoek mountains - a large open indoor fireplaces made it a great winter getaway to cosy up and stay indoors. Will hopefully get back here soon.
We very much enjoyed our stay here with our young children. The cottage was decorated to a very high standard and we loved all of the outside space for the children to play in. Great location for exploring the winelands too. Would highly recommend.
we loved our stay at the cottage - the property is beautiful and the cottage was so spacious and well-appointed. everyone we interacted with on the property was very friendly. i would definitely return.
What a fabulous place to be! Relaxing, quiet and calm would probably describe our stay best. And just a stone throw away you‘re in beautiful Franschhoek and all it‘s vineyards. Our cottage was out of this world! We‘ll be back:-).
Loved this cottage. The decor was very up to date with everything thought out well. Two verandas meant sun or shade. Nice touch have a dressing area as well as the en-suite. The other bathroom was very large. Enjoyed having the pool too.
A very well equipped and stylish cottage, with Brai , decent WiFi and fantastic walk in shower. Two nights at Chestnut Cottage provided a quiet oasis on a quiet vineyard about 7 km from Franschhoek. Uber easy to use and a great location away from the crowds. Fully recommended!
Great spot, secluded, comfortable with nearby pool for the kids. Close enough to Frranschoek yet still have a the privacy of a self catering accomodation. Would certainly recommend it and it is our second stay on the farm.
Cottages are well appointed and modern. Beds comfortable, good quality linen and fluffy towels. Fans if it is hot and fire if it is cold. Patios on either side of cottage to follow the sun or cool with braai and bistro seating. Swimming pool excellent condition and easy steps in for those that battle and sun decks on either end. Complimentary red wine was excellent and the fridge was stocked with other wines and produce for sale. Not in the village but a short drive and very private. Lovely owners. Will definitely return.
We had a wonderful night at La Chataigne. We were greeted with a chilled bottle of wine. The cottage was beautiful, spotlessly clean, beautifully appointed, with every amenity you could wish for. A large bathtub, towels, soaps and lovely comfortable beds. Terraces at the front and back of the cottage perfect for a lazy evening. I must mention the homemade cordial which was wonderful, I wish we could have it shipped to the UK! Thank you for a wonderful stay .
