La Chataigne Farm is a wine farm with cottages set 7km outside of Franschhoek Town in the winelands. Our guests have a choice of three quaint Riverside Cottages, set within metres of the Franschhoek River, and two contemporary Stable Cottages with mountain views and private pools. All of our cottages are self-catering with an open plan living area, fireplace, fully equipped kitchen and bbq/braai facilities. The Riverside Cottages have north and south facing veranda's and share The Orchard Pool for hot summer days. The Stable cottages have spacious decks with private pools. All of our cottages offer a tranquil space for a relaxing getaway. Guest are welcome to walk along the river bordering the farm, meander through the vineyards, soak up the sun at the Orchard Pool, enjoy a game of boules at sunset, and pick vegetables and herbs out of the Garden. End off your day relaxing on the stoep (verandah/patio) and sipping on a glass of wine from the very vineyards spread out before you.

This place was so nice and the staff so accommodating that I don't even know where to start - this was the highlight of our trip in SA. The cottages are absolutely gorgeous. We stayed in one of the cottages with the private pool and loved everything about it. I don't believe the privacy and the sunset you enjoy from the terrace/pool area can be matched around that area. On top of it, the location is great - a 7 minutes drive to Franschoek city centre if you want to go out for dinner or take the Wine Tram. It is also right next to several other wine farms if you'd like to do some quiet/local wine tasting. The owners also left a few of their own bottles in the cottage for purchase - wine is excellent and well worth buying if you decide to dine in.Thank you very much to everyone

Superbly located in the heart of Franschhoek with famous wineries within 5-10 minutes reach. We were pleasantly surprised by the comfortable size of the cottage and the view from the terrace overlooking the mountain was a feast every morning. Excellent value for money and very friendly staff !

Absolutely beautiful Blanc cottage was our base for a special anniversary weekend. Minimalist Scandinavian feel with everything you need from SMEG appliances, beautiful glassware & crockery and the freedom and privacy to laze around at your private plunge pool or walk in the vineyard. Highly recommended!

We stayed 1 night in the very nice and complete Chestnut house and we had a great stay. If you love to stay at the edge of a wine field with lots of privacy, this is the place to be! The bed was big and fine and the bathroom and kitchen were oke. Light the fire in the evening and read your book (no TV). Location is about 3km outside town. The staff os very friendly and we would like to come back one time!

We stayed one night in the cottage on the property and wished we had booked longer. The cottage was very luxourious and comfortable. We would recommend this highly. Unfortunately the estate does not have a standard wine tasting program. But there are enough possibilities for this in the area.

The service was good. The rooms were lovely & clean. Heaters and fireplace kept us warm. Kitchen had all the amenities and utensils required. Bathrooms were spacious and had more than enough towels etc. The setting along the river is beautiful and peaceful. Loved the quiet beauty of the place.
