Travellers' Choice
La Chataigne Farm is a wine farm with cottages set 7km outside of Franschhoek Town in the winelands. Our guests have a choice of three quaint Riverside Cottages, set within metres of the Franschhoek River, and two contemporary Stable Cottages with mountain views and private pools. All of our cottages are self-catering with an open plan living area, fireplace, fully equipped kitchen and bbq/braai facilities. The Riverside Cottages have north and south facing veranda's and share The Orchard Pool for hot summer days. The Stable cottages have spacious decks with private pools. All of our cottages offer a tranquil space for a relaxing getaway. Guest are welcome to walk along the river bordering the farm, meander through the vineyards, soak up the sun at the Orchard Pool, enjoy a game of boules at sunset, and pick vegetables and herbs out of the Garden. End off your day relaxing on the stoep (verandah/patio) and sipping on a glass of wine from the very vineyards spread out before you.

I hope we have the opportunity to go back to La Chataigne and for a longer stay. It is away from the town but close enough to get to the shops when necessary. It is cool and peaceful - a magical place.

Stylish well equipped spacious quality accommodation. Beautifully calm and private setting on a farm with river close by. Lovely braai area. Beautiful pool. Enjoyed walking through the vegetable garden. Will definitely return. Super value.

The bed in our room was bad. The bedding and matrass was old. Struggled to sleep on the matrass, nor firmness and could feel the springs. The rest of the unit was lovely, with an amazing shower. Sufficient self catering equipment as well with nice braai area on stoep. They also supplied us with some wood

This place was so nice and the staff so accommodating that I don't even know where to start - this was the highlight of our trip in SA. The cottages are absolutely gorgeous. We stayed in one of the cottages with the private pool and loved everything about it. I don't believe the privacy and the sunset you enjoy from the terrace/pool area can be matched around that area. On top of it, the location is great - a 7 minutes drive to Franschoek city centre if you want to go out for dinner or take the Wine Tram. It is also right next to several other wine farms if you'd like to do some quiet/local wine tasting. The owners also left a few of their own bottles in the cottage for purchase - wine is excellent and well worth buying if you decide to dine in.Thank you very much to everyone
