Detailed Reviews
After an initial disappointment about the room i was getting(ground floor), I was very delighted to be moved to a first floor room as they have a better view and with plenty of lighting. From this moment no more problems. Room it is very spacious. Bed comfortable as the pillows. Shower was also great. Breakfast was more then enough for us. I would definitely stay there again( if i get the upstairs room😊)

This was our second visit and once again we received a warm welcome from Susan and Johann. Nothing is too much trouble, they are always happy to help you with anything you might need or recommendations. This time we stayed in the Manor House and it was lovely to look out of the Juliet balcony to the olive trees and vineyards. We will return!

This villa is very spacious and offers good accommodation if you are visiting Franschhoek. It is close to town and provides a good base for exploring the area. The small plunge pool in the garden was a fabulous feature.

I would give them NO START if I could. We booked the room via booking.com, we were then told that in fact that room wasn't never available, we thought hmm weird, that hasn't happened to us before but ok and move on with finding something else, however the money for booking went through. We thought it is obvious they will refund us, but it's been over a month since our return from Africa and after numerous emails sent to Goodings as well as Booking.com, we haven't got our money back! They charged us for nothing and went quiet. I strongly advise not to deal with them as they haven't bothered to respond to a single message we sent. VERY DISHONEST way of handling business.

After booking and paying for three rooms for an occasion in Franschhoek for Bastilles day at Goodings Groves guest house one couple in our party could no longer attend. A week prior to our booking date Arlene the owner agreed that if she sold the one room that she would refund us the money less any commissions payable through any booking agency. As it was the Bastille Day weekend we both agreed that it shouldn’t be a problem as Franschhoek was effectively," booked out". I was sent an email the evening before our arrival confirming that Arlene had in fact sold the room but as they had a 100% no refund policy she would not be refunding the R1550.00 for the room, a fact that is in complete contravention of the CPA and our agreement.
I have since sent several emails requesting that Arlene reconsider her position on this and to please keep her word regarding our arrangement to which I received a single very terse reply that as they had a 100% no refund cancellation policy she would not be refunding me, since then my emails have gone unanswered. The business has benefitted from selling a room twice, I would not have requested that they sell the room which we had already paid for if there was to be no refund.
I post this as a warning to other would be travelers to Goodings Groves to please be aware of the new owner, the attitude of the business and any negotiations undertaken.

Goodings Grove was the venue that I handpicked to host my intimate wedding. All our guests were comfortably accommodated and the venue transformed for the wedding. Susan and Johan are the perfect host.

Gooding's is a friendly guesthouse within a few minutes drive from Franschhoek, with lots of colonial charm and comfort.
Susan and Johann who manage the place made us feel very welcolme, and we would have no hesitation in staying there again when we next visit the area.
One tip - don't leave without buying a jar of their excellent olives.

I stayed (solo) for two nights last week, unfortunately having to hammer the laptop to complete a tight project. Cathy and Bruce seemed to understand intuitively, supplying an extension lead so I could work on the beautiful stoep, and offering glasses of wine in the evenings - as well as coffee through the day. Ideally, you wouldn't want to be cracking numbers at Goodings, but lazing around the rustic garden pool and losing yourself completely amongst the flowers while gazing at the surrounding mountains, russet vines (Autumn) and eponymous olive groves. Rooms beautifully prepared, cosy and comfortable, and also with stunning views. Excellent breakfasts offered; but the main point for me was the quiet and unobtrusive warmth of the hosts - and other staff members - that immediately made the place feel like home. Good people = good management = attentive staff = "I (we)'ll be back". Thanks to all...

This was a wonderful stay. Arlene couldn’t have been more helpful and paid attention to all the details that make a stay an entirely pleasurable experience. Her experience in the hospitality business is evident in the beautifully equipped rooms and the well-organised and attractive environment.
The breakfast was delicious with fresh fruits, a range of hot options, delicious breads and home made preserves - and excellent tea and coffee.
The service is highly recommended with the friendly staff taking the initiative to offer cold drinks. A great pool (bit chilly in October, but I’m sure a real boon in the summer) and a beautiful garden area. The rooms were lovely - a great size with comfortable beds and fantastic hot water! I would certainly return here if I had the opportunity

We decided to stay in the Franschhoek area for a week and tried out different accommodations. Prices have gone up significantly in the last couple of years and more accommodation came online. We stayed for 1 night in Goodings and we found it overpriced and not great. Our room had a big living room and a small bedroom with a very small and outdated bathroom. We have seen that in multiple guest houses where the bathrooms are small and below standard while the living room (which you hardly use) is big and basic in terms of furniture. Breakfast was basic and we found out after finishing the breakfast that we had to pay for the cappuccino. Didn’t find the staff (breakfast) very friendly and accommodating. As the estate is close to the main road you hear the road very well which is not pleasant when you sit outside. We also had a bit of bad luck during the night as there was a very loud party close by.
