This place is a gem. Beautiful surroundings, nice pool, lovely breakfast. It's not 5-star, but it's clean, comfortable and cosy...just how we like it. Breakfast right next to the little waterfall was so peaceful. Bridgit the manager is also a gem...so friendly and helpful.

We returned to Klein Waterval after having been here in 2013 and we were not disappointed! In fact, it had only become better since. The lodge has an extremely nice vibe and for us hits the right balance between being very comfortable and not over the top. Breakfast is excellent yet not overdoing it between the various dinners and lunches most people will be enjoying in this area. The pool which has been replaced compared to our last visit is now greatly situated next to the bar/restaurant area, and the rooms are simple but comfortable. Location is perfect in between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, and the staff is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area with good recommendations for restaurants, wineries etc. We enjoyed returning to Klein Waterval and hope to be back again in the future

Recently stayed here for a trip to Frankosheck and I'm so glad I did! It's a small property I'd guess a dozen or so rooms at most. The rooms are nice and there is a fridge if you want some drinks etc in your room. It's the perfect place for couples or solo travelers. It was quite hot while I was there so I took advantage of sat out by the pool both days. The pool is wonderful. There is a lovely outdoor patio with great views of wine country where they serve breakfast. Breakfast is lovely with coffee, juice, croissants and eggs made to order. You get a more intimate experience than staying at a larger place and they will happily make recommendations and reservations for you. It is about 6km from town so if driving need to be aware of how much you drink and if taking the wine train need to either drive or take a taxi to the pickup. I loved my stay and highly recommend it for others!

We had the pleasure of returning to Klein Waterval again this January, it’s our 5 visit in 5 years so we obviously like the place. But the key is why we like it. Every time we have stayed here we have been made to feel most welcome and like visitors to their home. The rooms are clean, spacious and most of all peaceful. !! In any of the thatched rooms you can throw your door open and gaze across the vines onto the hills, especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset as the colors of the hills change with the light. The pool and bar area have plenty of beds and umbrellas if you fancy a little dip in the pool or just prefer to lie and soak up the sun and tranquility. But most of all the reason for returning time after time is the friendliness of the staff. Nothing is too much trouble and they go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need and help with dinner reservations at the local restaurants.
Hope to be back next year. Thank you for making our stay wonderful again.

My husband and I visited in March for a special location. From start to finish, our stay was just wonderful. We were met on arrival by the lovely host, Ezna. She showed us around and also gave us lots of recommendations for places to eat along with offering to book our reservation. Nothing was too much trouble for Ezna during our stay, herself and the entire team were extremely hospitable. The location is fantastic at only a short drive into Franschhoek around 5-10 minutes drive. Very reasonable with Uber. Our room was absolutely beautiful with exquisite views of the mountains and vineyard. The pool area is wonderful and very relaxing with picturesque views also. A great breakfast was served each morning to a very high standard which we thoroughly enjoyed. The service and hospitality here is simply fantastic and we will most definitely be staying here again. Thank you to Ezna and team for making our stay here so perfect for us :-)

We have been visiting Klein Waterval for more than 14 years now. It is one of our favourite places to stay. Usually we travel around SA for a few weeks & end our trip at KW. This year we stayed for 10 nights ( usually we stay for 5). From the moment you arrive you are made to feel welcome, nothing is too much trouble . Our room (no. 9) is prepared & ready for us, despite arriving earlier than we had advised. The high ceilinged room is furnished tastefully with plenty of storage space ( we don’t travel light), a very comfy bed, a safe/small fridge /small TV. The bathroom is small but functional, toiletries & fresh towels ( pool too) are provided each day . The views from the terrace of the cottage & the main building are stunning & watching the sun set over the mountains with a glass of wine in hand takes some beating. There is a well stocked ‘honesty bar’ overlooking the beautifully positioned swimming pool. Loungers, deckchairs & umbrellas are in abundance. Breakfast can be taken in or outdoors & offers a good variety of cereals/ fresh fruit/meat/cheese/croissant/ toast & a full ‘English ‘ option. Ezna, who manages the lodge, is its greatest asset. She makes your stay exceptional in every way, suggesting new places to visit/ eat at & books them for you. Already looking forward to our next visit.

From booking to check out we were made so welcome and cared for at Klein Watervall Riverside Lodge. On arrival we were quickly checked in and restaurants were suggested ,wineries and wines discussed and transport organised. Days out were also booked at check in making us feel very at home quickly and maximised the enjoyment of our stay. The pool area was clean and relaxing and had ovely views from the terrace and the room. The honesty bar was well stocked and breakfast was very relaxed and had a good choice with plenty marvellous coffees provided.We would highly recommend the Lodge, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the grounds quiet and safe. We'd love to return (for longer) to fully enjoy the ambiance and facilities of the Lodge as well as the beautiful, surrounding area. Thank you all at KWRL, it is a rare thing to find a warm welcome, and such efficient, caring Customer service combined with local knowledge.

From the moment we arrived at Klien Waterval Riververside Lodge to the time we left we felt spoilt.
Ezna's warm and infectious personality makes your stay feel extra special. Ezna really cares, listens attentively and effortlessly makes your stay exceptional.
Even Trevor 'the owner' goes out of his way not just meet and greet you but to make you feel at home and this says much about his team.
We relaxed at the pool for 2-days in 35 degrees plus against the backdrop of the beautiful Drakeberg Mountains. Our every need met, which made our staycation soooooo much better.
Klien Waterval Riverside lodge is a place that respects your privacy and affords honesty. The poolside bar is exceptionally well stocked with a great selection of wines, beers and spirits - all on a honesty basis. Pour sip and write it down.
Our room was Uber clean and the bed was super comfy.
Breakfast was delicious the full monty cooked to perfection and served on the outside terrance with the sound of the little waterfall. It's a real treat.

We had a wonderful stay at Klein Waterval. We felt 100% looked after - nothing was too much effort. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, breakfast was exactly what we needed to get the days started, even if it was only lounging by the pool soaking up the sun and an ice cold drink - all in all a perfect gettaway.

Klein Waterval is a relaxed getaway situated on a wine farm just outside of Franschhoek. Ezna took great care of us, suggesting (and booking) restaurants to visit and ensuring that we were comfortable throughout our stay. We particularly enjoyed breakfasts on the outside verandah.
Guests have access to the main area in the evenings where a fire is left roaring in the lounge area, music is playing in the background and guests can enjoy a drink from the honesty bar. This was a lovely, generous touch which made this spot extra-special in my opinion.
