They say that first impressions last and I can't tell you how true this is about CapeVue. It is a heavenly place run by wonderful people. From the moment I spoke to Basil (Bas) on the phone, I knew this was going to be a fantastic stay. [LOCATION] Location is brilliant, they are situated to the right-hand side of the Huegenoet memorial and 500mtrs from the main road and all the wonderful shops and restaurants of Franshoek. I am sure it must be the closest wine farm to the main road. So great if you don't want to drink and drive or if you don't want to have a car. [SCENERY & NATURE] When you drive through the gates you feel like you are entering some secret nature's valley. The mountains, the sky, the clouds, all magical. You drive past the vineyards and arrive at the guest house. Surrounded by nature you cannot escape it from sitting in the breakfast room, to reclining at the pool or on your own private patio (stoep.) Basil gave us a tour of his small orchard and vegetable garden at the back of the house and we left with a massive bag of organic lemons. Every night we sat on the patio outside the lounge bar gazing at the scenery and the stars above while being serenaded by Bas's music selection. [POOL] The pool is wonderful and overlooks the vineyards. We spent most of our two days here lounging and relaxing and working (me). They have several loungers and the pool is heated by solar. [OWNER & STAFF] Basil the owner has a natural personality which would make anybody feel at home. His stories, bubbly personality and company were wonderful. A big thank you to Bas and Sue for making us feel so at home and for all the great advise on things to do in and around Franschoek. They and the staff really did whatever they could to make our stay comfortable. [BREAKFAST] Each day we had a wonderful breakfast prepared by Gennie. I had the farm veg omelette on the 2nd day which was great. Homemade marmalade and a good buffet spread. [SECURITY] Is excellent and one can truly relax day or night. [ROOMS] Rooms are large, well-appointed and recently renovated with all the features including mini-bar, smart-TV, wifi, phone. The shower was powerful and they had some wonderful aromatherapy bath and shower gels from a local South African. company. We didn't try the bath but it looked great. I enjoyed sitting on the stoep watching the hardidar birds frolicking about. We also had a picnic for lunch one day. Massive bed, top quality linen, good pillows and aircon for the hot weather. [ATTENTION TO DETAIL] Its all there from the dressing gowns, to the biscuits and apples in the rooms, the honesty bar with its chocolates and packets of crisps. Cannot fault the place and would definitely recommend CapeVue to anybody wanting a 5-star experience in a wonderful setting. They truly deserve the business. We cant wait to go back.

We had one of the best rooms in the Country House. You stepped out of the bedroom onto the lawn, near to the secluded pool. Breakfast was on a unique covered terrace that could be used on both sides, dependant upon the time of year. Lovely breakfast area & the location was ideal for the high street in Franschoek, in fact just a few minutes walk away. The host even gave us a free tasting of his own wines. Nothing was too much trouble. Superb....

I am writing this review from the garden of Cape Vue Hotel here in Franschoek. The hospitality is absolutely outstanding, we have very much enjoyed our stay here at the hotel. The entire guest experience is immecable from the moment you arrive, every moment you are here through to your departure (sadly ours is tomorrow morning and I’ve watched a number of guests depart very happy since we arrived). The breakfast is served in a beautifully decorated open room with high ceilings and lots of light. The food is fantastic. A warm authentic good morning from the team really does come from their hearts. The bedrooms are stunning, comfortable and all guests needs taken care of. The showers are spacious and airy, lots of room to enjoy the wonderful high pressure rain shower. The grounds are very well taken care of, behind secure gates and a security guard stationed near the gate. The pool is nice and and a lovely seating area near the pool for reading. The hotel is a short walk into the main high street, which we enjoyed most days back and forth. We felt very safe in the neighbourhood. In closing my excellent review of this guest house I must draw attention to the Owners of Basil & Sue who clearly have the most wonderful understanding humanity. They have an eye for absolute detail all the while working very much behind the scenes not the small details but very present to greet you and make you feel that your stay here really does matter to them. Their love and good energy filters through the place, making it the most authentic home from home. Their staff carry their energy and are wonderful humans creating a wonderful experience. I enjoyed hearing the ladies chatting and humming away whilst they worked, and the manager is a very well connected and resourceful man who made great recommendations and within a flash had made us dinner reservations. Thank you to the team at Cape Vue for making our stay so very wonderful.
