Very hard to review! We had planned to camp but switched to a chalet. Campsites look decent, spacious and with good facilities. The chalets could use a touch of maintenance and a bit of a facelift, but serviceable. Beds were comfortable enough. Contained a fridge, aircon, tv. Random "boer maak 'n plan" approach to the whole place really. Restaurant honestly a little disappointing. Chips were good. Standard northern cape fare (chicken schnitzel or steak anyone?) but not implemented that well. Service was also glacially slow. I think this would be a great place to camp, and offers discounts for people on night before entering Kgalagadi or after leaving. That's the best thing about it really. Has a bar serving the usual choice of beer or jagermeister. Sells some provisions (frozen meat, etc). Some recreational things too (giant chess for the kids, large pool area). No real plan to the layout, so no paths between chalets. You have to pick your way across grass and over dividing stones and little walls. Friendly staff trying hard. Would likely stay again.

We stayed here in December, traveling from vryburg to luderits we decided its a good half way point. The road from Van Zyl Rus to Molopo is terrible and won’t wish it upon my worst enemy, rather drive upington around. The lodge is amazing and very affordable. Bed and breakfast. The service is really good and people are polite. The restaurant is out of this world with great local foods and exceptional variety. A little expensive but worth every cent. Will go back any day!! Try the speciality’s!!

This review is late but heartfelt as I was truly impressed by the service of this place. I would specifically like to mention Derrick, the manager and Vicky at the reception - both are helpful, friendly and do their work extremely well.. Eric is a really good chef. The dishes are all delicious. The only complain I have is that if you stay for a longer duration than 2-3 days like we did, the menu becomes boring. Perhaps more dishes can be added. Rendelene and Caroline are also excellent at their work and must be congratulated. Whenever I asked them for any help, they helped with a smile. Overall also the staff was good. Two things that I didn't like but which can't be helped given the geographical area - too many mosquitoes and the nature of the water in the bathroom is such that it cannot get the soap off. But as I said, there is not much that the lodge can do about it. I was truly impressed with Molopo Kalahari Lodge and will definitely stay there if I visit again. The behaviour, service, helpfulness and friendliness that its managers and workers show is exemplary.

We stayed over at Molopo Lodge en route to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. On arrival there it felt as though we had entered an oasis. A beautiful setting with an abundance of trees, shade, lawns and more than two swimming pools. The management and staff were extremely welcoming and helpful and provided us with well appointed accommodation in rondawels. Very clean, neat, beautiful linen and everything one could possibly need. The restaurant was good, it was such a pleasure enjoying dinner on an outdoor patio, and we enjoyed a lovely breakfast before our departure the next morning. Service excellent! It was a very restful place to be. We were sad that we hadn't booked for more than one night. Molopo Lodge comes highly recommended as a stopover or even for a few days vacation.

10/10 review from us. Literally couldn't wish for better.
We drove in from Upington and weren't going to make it to the kgalagadi NP gate in time so made arrangements on route to stay at molopo lodge last minute.
When we arrived, the owners welcomed us at our vehicle and showed us around the premises making us feel immediately at home.
We stayed in the chalet which is surrounded by greenery and a big central pool. Bedroom was clean, comfortably and had everything we needed (especially aircon!).
The food was excellent. Generous portion. Well priced. LEKKER.
Put plainly, I'm glad we couldn't make it to the kgalagadi gate in time because I will definitely be stopping here for my first night instead.

For so long we have had friends that stop over at Molopo before pushing on into Kgalagadi. So we decided to follow suit this year - just a one night booking in a tented chalet so as not to camp and pitch tents. On arrival we asked where to check in and the delightful and friendly lady said “what about a rondawel instead? Marvelous we thought but then her husband saw our vehicle plus trailer and said “ better idea - what about chalet number 10 - two parking bays “ and the he proceeded to give us free ice and took us to our chalet with aircon in the heat, pool next to the patio, good nights rest, and tasty breakfast next morning. And then we were still offered a discount because of traveling north to the park. And on top of this all it is a quite beautiful haven! This will now be a permanent stop over every visit to Kgalagadi💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Once the Government permitted travel across provincial boundaries, we immediately booked into the Molopo Lodge. Our logic was that, as this was our first travel venture post months of lockdown and Molopo is situated in a remote part of the country, this would be a safe place to visit.
How wrong could we be. The management showed no adherence to the Government advised covid protocols with zero evidence of masks, sanitising or social distancing taking place amongst the staff. This attitude is in stark contrast to that of Sanparks - 60km to the north of Molopo. In fact it contrasts with the approach of every hospitality institution we have visited since the easing of lockdown.
Furthermore, we found the manageress most unpleasant to deal with, both in person and over the phone whilst making our reservation.
To end on a positive note, Dirk (the manager) was most hospitable and did all within his power to ensure our stay was as pleasant as could be. The same can be said for Celeste. So saying, we will not be overnighting at Molopo again.

At a whim we decided to stay over at the camp site on our way to the Kgalagadi. What a lovely tranquil place. I have never been at a camping place with my own lockable bathroom. It was precious. While we were relaxing the ladies from the kitchen came over to present us with a tiny home made bread. We will definitely come here again

In urgent need of a makeover. Rooms are very seldom serviced. Room mosquitos invested. Poorly managed. Self-catering rooms are poorly equipped with broken and odd utensils. It can be a great lodge again if it is restored to its early glory.

5 stars won't be enough to rate this gem! Molopo is tops!! As I am away from my family a lot due to work responsibilities, we were excited to have a weekend together that was long overdue. Some quiet, quality family drives in the Kgalagadi park and we could not have chosen a better place to stay than Molopo. Their hospitality, friendliness and excellent service is something you will search very far to find! Carlos, thank you to you and your team! Your services and humble gesture made our weekend just that much more special, and we really do appreciate. Book now!! Molopo won't disappoint!
