We loved our visit here. The landscape is spectacular and beautiful, The lodge is very well designed and appointed. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We spent 5 days here and Norman our guide made sure we saw different areas and sights each day combining drives and walks. Norman's knowledge of fauna, flora and birdlife is excellent. I also highly recommend a visit to the Date and grape farm. Thank you to all of the rest of the team at Tutwa - Lucky, Vanessa, Lovemore, Titus.

A lovely peace of paradise in the semi-dessert. Peaceful, quiet and rejuvinating. Norman, our guide, was fantastic, great knowledge, and happy to tailor our daily activities to what we wanted. We did some lovely walks, game drives and an awesome trip to a nearby date farm and hot spring. Not a lot of game, but just a lovely place to unwind. Lucky and the lodge team were very attentive, food was good. All in all a lovely few days.

The area is just too beautiful. I would really recommend it to family and friends. I am already planning my next trip. The one concern is just the gravel road which I guess if is properly maintained, I can even use a small car.

Perhaps the most beautiful desert lodge experience anywhere in the world. With a guest list that includes Idris Elba, Shania Twain and John Travolta it’s not difficult to see why they chose this incredible place to get away from the world. The staff are amazing, the meals were spectacular and the game drives and daily experiences were once in a lifetime incredible. The lodge has been placed 6km from the Orange river along a valley that makes you think Indiana Jones could come past at any moment. There was not a thing they didn’t think of that would make a guest feel pampered and relaxed. This should be on everyone’s bucket list of locations. My words cannot do it justice. I will return.

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the end of August. Although it seems far and off the beaten track, the roads to get there are fascinating and there's more to see than you might expect. The rooms are beautifully appointed, the food thoughtfully prepared and staff attentive. The setting is spectacular as is the bird life. I wasn't expecting to see much game and didn't.

Tutwa Desert Game Lodge provided a very special insight into the exquisite green Kalahari. The tranquil setting accompanied with excellent service from the staff provided us with an amazing visit, one which we will definitely repeat in the future. An afternoon trip on the Orange River was a highlight of the experience with special thanks to Norman, not only for his extensive knowledge of the area which enhanced the game drives but for his wonderful sense of humour.

What a pleasure to find this gem! A remote corner of SA well worth exploring. The area has much to offer in fauna and flora, hiking, game viewing and canoeing or just relaxing around the fire or pool. The lodge is luxurious, beautifully furnished and the food super. The staff are friendly, attentive and fun. Ranger Norman Musekwa is top of his game, he entertained and educated us all. Truly a special experience!

We loved Tutwa desert lodge. The beautiful furnishings, the location, the ambience. A couple of issues with dinner catering the one night and WiFi unstable at times but the experience of being there makes up for it. We especially loved the trip on the Orange river - a definite highlight. It was exceptional and Norman, our guide, is funny and entertaining. An excellent guide. The landscape is so different and breathtaking. I highly recommend this lodge!

We loved every minute of our overnight stay at Tutwa Desert Lodge. The accommodation was luxurious, the bed super comfortable and the service faultless. The highlight was a game drive with Norman, who is knowledgeable and entertaining. After dinner we spent hours staring at the night sky - I don't think I have ever seen such breathtaking stars! Well worth a visit.
