We travel extensively throughout RSA and always wanted to go to Plato Lodge. What a GEM!!!! Maans and Jackson are the perfect hosts, goodness they can do a perfect springbok and beef steak!!!! We spent 2 days. Keeping in mind it is very hot this time of year, but the fan and mobile aircon made it more than bearable. The drive (4x4) down to the Ornge river was a highlight. We will surely return, winter for sure, as this place recharge your soul. Thank you Maans for making this stay memorable!!!!!!!

This lodge is a perfect lodge to get away from the daily busy schedule. Located deep in the Kalahari. Peaceful. Lea is an amazing host, and ensures that you are comfortable. Scenery you wake up to in the morning is out of this world

Words can not do justice to our experience at Plato Lodge! Splendid. Exceptional. Do not let the dirt road discourage you. Most beautiful setting and views will reward you on arrival. Leah and Maans are devoted to their guests's well being and comfort.

Definitely a unique experience.

Thank you Leah and Maans

We spent a night at Plato and we'll definitely be back. The lodge is in the most beautiful surroundings and the hosts are pleasant and easy-going. The food was excellent and our only complaint was that we weren't going to spend another night there!

Lovely getaway for people in the northern Cape. Extremely peaceful and so amazing to escape city life. Please note that the gravel Road to get there is quite long and a 4x4 is recommended. The hosts are amazing and cook lovely dinners, as well as take you on adventures around the lodge upon requesting.

I visited the lodge with my family during July 2016 and it was an unforgettable experience.
The owners were friendly and caring and have gone out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The food was excellent.
The rooms were spacious, and each room has its own balcony with beautiful views towards the Orange river valley. The lodge is very secluded and we felt very close to nature. We enjoyed going hiking in the veldt. The Orange river is also only about 7 km away, and we spent hours fishing using the owner's fishing gear. This is a great place to relax and get away from everything, and it is also very good value for money.

I stayed at Plato Lodge as it said it was the best on trip advisor. Whilst sceptical I decided to give it a go. It really did live up to the reviews. The room is simple but exactly what you need, the views from the giant windows and balcony and the communal areas are spectacular, the food is good quality home cooked and served well. The bar is well stocked. The activities were fun. And for a single traveller it was great to chat life, Africa and travel with Lea and Gene who were great hosts. This is a great stop off for augrabies. I stayed 2 nights, for my full day did the game drive to the lovely river spot and the sunset drive, both at reasonable prices. And then enjoyed some very hot walking and resting. The following day I left after breakfast for the falls and on to upington. An easy day of driving. I highly recommend Plato lodge for its natural beauty and great hosting.

After a long day on the road to Augrabies. We did not feel like driving the extra 40km to Plato Lodge.. i am so glad we did.Plato Lodge is a breathtakking place with the most hartwarming hosts youl find.. The food are brilliantly prepared. The beds very comfortable and rooms are excellent. The views are truly stunning just check the pictures I took from my bed during a thunderstorm. We would recommend Plato lodge as the best place to stay in the Northern Cape.

We decided to stay based on previous tripadvisor reviews. It is about 30 mins drive from the falls entrance on a sand road which is not bad at all. And what a gem we discovered. If you are looking for peace, quiet in fact silence and a beautiful view from your room you will find it. Rooms are comfortably done with magnificent view. If you need to connect to the world (which we didn't) there is wifi at main lodge. Dinners were personal and lovely experience!

We recommend a drive to private piece of orange river for picnic and a bumpy yet very special drive up to the highest point for a sunset you will never forget!

Thank you Vessels family!Ons sien julle weer

As usual trip advisor is the first place to look for a good holiday.
This time expectations where fulfilled to the brim. We where so fortunate to have the whole lodge for ourselves for two days. Be aware that not amount of exercise will save you from picking some weight: the food prepare for you is amazing. Have a hearty breakfast and go explore the surroundings on foot, mountain bike or 4x4. Will be you and Mother Nature and the views will take your breath away.
Be sure to deflate your tires a bit to absorb the rough ride from the lodge to the sand boarding area or the river or let your car behind and ask the host to guide you.
Your room hot water take some time to reach you please be patient and let some water run.
I will recommended this place to the people to want to be out of reach for a while and rest assured they will take care of you.
