The landscape is attractive. There are resident ostriches to visit. We were a group of 11 and there were very few other guests. The manager greeted us and gave us simple instructions. The rooms were spacious, clean, with bathtubs and full kitchens. People do smoke outside the rooms if that is a concern to you. It is quiet at night. The pool is refreshing. We did have to ask for pool towels and go into the bar area when we needed additional items. Dinner was served as a buffet with basic selections. There were lots of frogs mating at the edge of the pool(entertaining). The trees are filled with weaver birds. There is no handrail for the steep steps leaving the dining area to the lower cottages, be careful and carry a torch/headlamp.

Although a bit out of the way, I really enjoyed my stay at this place on a recent business trip to Barberton. While the rooms are fairly average, the setting is awesome, with nice grounds, an amazing pool, and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. I stayed in one of the lower long blocks of rooms – a row of about 10 attached rooms. The room was basic & spartan but functional, with a small kitchenette and fridge. I didn’t like the fact that there was no functional computer desk. Even more disappointing was that there was no Wifi in the rooms – you had to go up the hill to the lodge/reception to get email. In this day and age, there is no excuse for not extending Wifi to all of your rooms. The food and service there was reasonably good, and I ate all of my meals there.

There is not much to do there. I was hoping for some kind of gym, activity, or sporting equipment around the expansive grounds, but no. I resorted to going on daily runs outside and down the road. The conference facilities were a bit basic unfortunately, even the AC wasn’t working correctly so we had to have all doors open and hope for a breeze.

Overall, a bit rough around the edges, but a nice setting. I recommend it to travelers in the area as a good base for exploring the Barberton area. But not really a good place for business people.

We were pleasantly impressed by the venue as well as the staff whom were absolutely professional.
The establishment is large and offers self catering or b&b units.
There are two pools to cool down in as well.
The kitchen also has a great menu to choose from.
The self catering units are well appointed and do not lack in any area.
