We arrived on the 27th around 15h00.The place is really beautiful and peaceful. One of the rooms allocated was not clean and the mattress had urine stains but we got another one. The room I was in had only one bath towel and no bath mat. Overall we had a great time.

I've have been to Sanloo Manor a couple of times but it seems like they are struggling to maintain standards. The reception staff were friendly but the rooms aren't very good. Linen needs replacing.
They should just pay more attention to detail.

We chose Sanloo Manor for our Christmas visit to family living in Tzaneen mainly because it was central and affordable. Our room was inside the hotel, clean, serviced daily as well as clean towels, shampoo and soap being placed in the bathroom. The bed, itself, was a dream to sleep on and the added bonus, for us, was the air conditioner which, during December, was a necessity. As we were visiting family we didn't make use of the dining room facilities which offered breakfast and evening meal. We loved the kettle which, along with the sachets of coffee, tea, sugar and creamer, provided us with a lovely cuppa every morning. The staff were always friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.

What a shocker.... Sanloo Manor will never see our family again. If I could rate it 0 stars I would...
Where to begin.... We had reserved 4 rooms for this past weekend.
Each room was booked for 2 adults but all the rooms only had 1 towel in... My parents were there the Friday evening already and requested the guest house to please ensure that the other 3 rooms have 2 towels in at least for us on Saturday - they didn't bother to complete that request...
The wooden floors in our room were old, dirty and lifting.
We went out for dinner on Saturday evening and returned just after 21h00. On entering the room and bathroom - the floor was filled with cockroaches coming out from under the wooden floors.
In the main guesthouse there are signs everywhere asking guests to please respect other guests and be quiet from 21h00.... after asking the other guests to please keep it down long after 22h30, phoning reception asking them to step in at 23h45, still no assistance. Doors banging throughout this time by the other guests. Needless to say we were all still awake long after 00h00. This is including my sister-in-laws baby...
There is a dog on the premises that also barks non stop, throughout the night. You are awoken at 04h00 by a rooster that goes on until about 06h00. And there is also some sort of a bird/parrot in the house that starts making a noise very early in the morning.

Overall our experience was horrific - and when bringing all of this under their attention the next morning - they weren't too phased or bothered...

I will NOT suggest this venue to anyone, not even my worst enemy!!! truly pathetic service!

The room was very clean and comfortable. However when staying in a guest house I always prefer:
An air conditioner. (Not required during my stay but I would imagine would be sorely missed in summer?)
Hair dryer.
Bar fridge.
More info about the guesthouse itself, surrounding areas and facilities and the WiFi password.

The “upper class” advertising is not what we experienced. We stayed 7 nights in a Garden Room - these rooms are situated in a parking area (double story building) with not even a piece of grass in front of the room, so we had to go to the tea garden for privacy or calm atmosphere. We were awakened every night/morning by lots of noises from the parking area, from branches on the sink roof, from our next door neighbours talking till after midnight and then start talking any time from even before 5am, the water pipes that were noisy and we could hear every flashing toilet, the garden staff were noisy and you could hear every car warming up before leaving the premises and the neighbours next to the Guest House were very noisy. The cleaning staff had no respect for our privacy and wanted to change our bar fridge with another one on Saturday morning before 9am. No bedside lights, no tea, fresh milk or teaspoons on arrival (we had to be satisfied with the same 2 plastic flimsy teaspoons for the whole week), some days we were left without any tea and some other without toilet paper and we had to buy our own fresh milk. No Free Wi-Fi in the Garden Rooms and no wardrobe or chest of drawers. On arrival only 1 set of towels and the Air conditioner remote never worked - even after we complained. No comfortable chairs, so we had to sit on the bed for the whole week. We were charged for a single breakfast as somebody else gave our room number up after we told them on arrival that we will not have breakfast at the guest house.

I travel for a living spending half the month in hotels and this is by far the worst hotel I have ever been to. The management don't care about the guests, staff demoralized, false advertizing on their site ( aircons and wireless)...a fan and iffy wireless and not a place to hold a conference...very disappointed as not what their site leads you to believe... good food is about the only saving grace along with pretty grounds

We stayed at the Sanloo for a single night. Don't rely on the GPS coordinates on their website to find them. It will get you within a km of the place. We stayed in one of the "standard" rooms. They are on the small side, in the main lodge, and have creaky wooden floors. Breakfast was an extra R80 per person. If we went back, I'd go elsewhere for breakfast. Desk help was clueless when it came to asking directions around town. I'm glad they had a free map. No pool. Beautiful grounds. There was a service in the chapel on the grounds when we were there but it got over fairly early in the evening. It is fairly economical (R500 for a double). Room was fairly quiet. Small shampoo packet and soap. Nice shower - no tub in a standard room. Clean.

Well this Manor has seen the best of days, the internet pics exaggerate the elegance, it needs refreshment, I found the rooms to be less than adequate and for a four star establishment, it should at least offer a bar fridge in the room. The reception was warm, the staff very accommodating and friendly but didn't meet expectations.

2 stars for Service and Breakfast - Person at Reception was not very helpful.
Breakfast very standard and unprofessional.
Had to go ask for the air-conditioner remote as this is not kept in the rooms.
Guesthouse note very quiet during evenings.
Layout and location perfect but definitely needs attention.

Would not recommend.
