Our expectations were exceeded in every respect. Location offers uninterrupted magnificent views of the berg from anywhere in the resort. Our accommodation in a beautifully decorated 2 bedroom chalet, 2 bathroom chalet was immaculate, spacious and every comfort was provided, including a well equipped kitchenette which made snack lunches in the chalet very possible. Lots of unexpected extras like welcome drinks, homemade rusks, plunger coffee, gowns and nightly truffles and turn-down were a real luxury and much appreciated. We enjoyed the pool and tennis court, a guided hike up Montusi mountain, and several walks and jogs around the beautiful well-maintained property. But the highlight was the dining - superb breakfasts and dinners, with excellent service, and in…
Have just got back from trip to South Africa where everywhere we stayed had great views but the views from Montusi were the best - absolutely stunning sky line of the northern Drakensberg including "the Amphitheatre". Accommodation is in self-contained chalets with kitchenette, lounge area and bedroom. There is a beautiful swimming pool landscaped with large boulders and "waterfall". Activities include walks, horse riding and there are nearby places to go zip wiring, quad biking etc.. Nice open sided dining area and great food with good wine list. Friendly and helpful staff. We stayed 2 nights on our way from Jo'berg to Drakensberg and location is ideal for this. Wish we had stayed an extra night.
We enjoyed two wonderful, relaxing days at Montusi and wished we could have stayed longer! The location is stunning, the accommodation is beautifully appointed and our lodge was extremely well equipped with a beautiful, clean and very modern bathroom. The food was delicious and a great deal of thought had gone into the menu with some innovative dishes. We just loved the ethos of the place and you could do as much or as little as you liked. Our guided walk was excellent and there are also lots of other well marked, self guided walks leaving directly from the property. Our next challenge will be The Amphitheatre and we will have no hesitation in returning to Montusi where all the team made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Thank you to you all.
This was our second visit to Montusi and after four years away, it seems more magnificent than ever. The setting is stunning whether seen from our chalet or from the dining room or from the lounge (here the afternoon tea deserves much better promotion). Our chalet enjoyed a large and comfortable bed, a sitting room, a small stoep and a bathroom equipped with a shower and generous bath. The breakfasts and dinners were excellent and served by friendly staff. We enjoyed the walks around the estate which had been clearly marked and maintained. The hotel is only 20 minutes drive from the Royal Natal National park which offers s huge range of walks and other activities. Montusi is firmly at the top of our South African destinations and we cannot wait to return.
