Island Vibe was an amazing hostel to stay at. It is easy to find and located right on the beach. They have gated parking and the staff is very friendly and were very helpful in recommendations. The rooms are very clean and they have a full kitchen facility for guests use. My wife and I were on our honeymoon so we got a private room that had a nice balcony with a seating area and a view of the beach. they went above and beyond to make our stay special. They had a bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates in our room for us. They also have a bar with a pool table and restaurant style seating that opens onto the patio area where there are hammocks and a fire pit. The food was excellent and the whole place just has great vibes. They have lots of tours they run personally as well as they are able to assist in booking tours in the area. We booked a sand-boarding tour and it was a lot of fun. I would recommend staying at Island Vibes to anyone looking for a beautiful, affordable, and relaxing place to stay close to the beach and town.

We stayed in Island Vibe JBay for the 5th time and we loved it as always. The Staff remembered us and welcomed us very warmly like always. The room (double room in the beachhouse) was clean and frequently cleaned by the nice cleaning ladies. Also the common kitchen and the garden souroundings are well protected by them and the Gardeners. You meet a lot of diffrent people there and the make Braii on the big fireplace frequntly. You have plenty options to cook or just order a nice wrap or pizza from the island vibe kitchen. The same for breakfast. if you want to party, there is the bar always open until the night, or if you want it more calm, step down to the beachhouse. wether you are a surfer or just a beach lover, for both you will find the perfect location there. Long clean beach with almost white sand and nice surfbreaks for surfers with amazingly great vibes in the water!!! If you want real south african local vibes, choose Island Vibe!! see you again next year

Island Vibe Jbay is a little slice of paradise along the garden route. With views in the dormitory bedrooms which look straight over the ocean, and frequently cleaned facilities, Island Vibe has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. Not only are the facilities great Island Vibe also has a great group of staff who feel like your friends more than staff from the moment you step into the door. Special thank you so much to Charmaine on reception who always checked in on me and always had a smile on her face and Jimeal, my surf instructor, who was beyond patient with me and not only taught me to surf but also showed me around Jeffreys Bay, where he has grown up. A truly wonderful stay and I miss it already.

My friend and I were dropped off here as a part of an organized tour for a surfing excursion. We rented surfboards and wetsuits for about 5 USD per person which was an incredible deal and the woman at the front desk was so nice. When we arrived we thought the vibe was cool and the view of the beach was nice. We figured after our surf we would come back and have a drink at the bar and chill at what seemed like a cool place. Once we got our surfboards we headed down to the beach. From the property to the area where you are able to surf is close to a 20 minute walk on sand/ dunes. We had a nice surf and then started the hike back up hill to the property. Along the way, we burnt our feet badly on the hot sand so we ran to the gate leading into the property which was supposed to be unlocked for us. It was locked and we were forced to stand there in the burning sand yelling for someone to open it since our phones were locked away inside. we knew there were people nearby but no one came until someone staying in the hostel came to open for us. Once we got back we rinsed off and asked the guy working there if he could take our picture. So we could remember this trip together. He couldn’t seem more bothered if he tried. He made a comment that we were fake surfers for taking a picture. We aren’t pros but do love to surf and in fact just came from surfing so the comment was a little rude. At one point, the end of my surfboard touched the floor by accident because it was long and he got so annoyed I couldn’t understand what just happened. We started to take off the wetsuits and before my friend could even take off his he snapped at him and said he needs to make it cleaner. My friend said “I need to take it off first before I wash it” to which he just rolled his eyes. After thoroughly washing our wetsuits we returned everything and noticed that the few people sitting at the hostel, who appeared to be the employees friends, just glared at us. We were so uncomfortable we paid and left. What we thought would be a chill place was so uncomfortable, rude staff, inconvenient location and lack of attention. Besides the woman at the front desk, there’s nothing to see here. It’s best to rent from a place more central, and even a tad bit friendlier. I only gave two stars because of the woman at the front desk who was nice to us.

The location for this hostel is amazing, right on the beach and the layout of everything is excellent with a real surfers vibe to it. Everything is chill and not much matters. The people are friendly.
The dorms were quite poor quality, as there are no plugs to charge your devices and it is just a bunch of bunkbeds on a tiles floor, which is not a major problem. However they party with loud music in the bar till about 1:30am and the dorms are right next to the bar, making it almost impossible to sleep. I thought I was saved by Eskom (can't believe I said that) when the power went out and the music stopped. but they had a generator, and for the first time in my life I was sad about that.
The food that you can buy there are just Pick n pay frozen foods that are cooked for you, so nothing amazing, but they are prices somewhat accordingly.
I wouldn't use this location as a stopping point for a trip to East London, I would however stay here again if i wanted to party.

Real value for money and you are not treated as if you are traveling on a budget. The reception by Charmaine makes you feel at home immediately and she makes sure she knows and addresses you by your name. The location is perfect, on the beach but away from the main attractions, still within walking distance.

Location is unbeatable - direct access to the beach, overlooking Kitchen Windows surf break, and close to all the best restaurants/cafes. Hostel is regularly cleaned and dorms are spacious, with ocean views. Special shoutout to Aunty Charmaine and Dirty Devon for always being welcoming hosts! I stayed with two friends in this lovely hostel and wish we would have had the time to extend our stay. They have great affordable breakfast and food, a large outdoor area with plenty of space to hang out and watch the waves and very friendly staff. Since we visited during low season there weren't a lot of other guests and the evening was pretty quiet but we enjoyed the peaceful calm and saw a fantastic sunset, sunrise and spotted a whole school of dolphins right from our breakfast table! Highly recommend!

This was our second stay in JBay and we always really enjoy ourselves. The staff are so accommodating and it always just seems very relaxed. Our view over the beach and ocean is just so breathtaking. Suitably caters for the younger and older folk visiting.
