WOW! Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge is truly a memorable place. The accommodation is extremely comfortable with beautiful decor. The service is top class with staff who certianly go the extra mile to make you happy. The food was delicious and best of all, the elephant encounter was so very special. Nothing less than a 5 out of 5 stay. Thank you Tracey, Alta and your team and of course, the elephant handlers - particularly Mark and Chris you made our encounter so interesting.
Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge is extremely tranquil and peaceful. Its a great place to get away from the hussle and bustle of our busy lives. The rooms are spacious, neat, clean and very private and if lucky while having your morning coffee, you are able to see giraffes and elephants roaming around. The walk with elephants was phenomenal, the elephant care takers are very knowledgeable and informative which adds to the experience. The staff are very friendly and helpful. A special thanks to Tracey who looked after us from the day we got there, she gave us amazing service and added to our great experience, an amazing, friendly and nice person always willing to help make our stay better. The food was delicious and they were able to meet any dietary requirements we had. A truly great get away for families wanting to have a restful get away.…
we stayed a couple of nights at this lodge. The reception with dining room and lounge is beautiful, very stylishly furnished by Weylandts. Welcome nice, however not much information and no welcome drink. The tent/houses are parshly renovated, lacking of a concept and mixing styles. We were under the impression that the whole lodge/resort was completely renovated, which was definitely not the case. Beautiful verandah with great views, however just 2 not really comfy chairs, sunbeds wouldnt be a luxury. Pool is very small but nice. The dinner was a 3 course meal, really good and nicely presented. The breakfast was a complete letdown, very very basic, for a luxury lodge not acceptable, you have to pay extra for a cappuccino ! The real problem is the drive - dont take the 4x4 route, even guests with 4x4 struggled. If you want to drive to Addo Park it takes you an hour there and back, keep that in mind. All in all a nice lodge with loads of potential to improve in the competitive market…
Only stayed one night but were very lucky to see lion and hyenas squabbling at the waterhole. Had an amazing steak in the restaurant. Morning safari - make sure you wrap up warm as it was freezing and sadly too early for elephants. Safari tent was adequate - should probably have stayed longer.
We spent 3 nights in this beautiful outback, but luxury place. You have absolute privacy and your own jacuzzi integrated in a wooden deck just next to your tent. There's not a sound of civilization to hear, so the 25km dirt road track was totally worth the drive. The 4x4 safaris were really interesting also. Be sure to hold tight, as the drive goes up very rocky little trails in to the wild. Aside different sorts of game, like giraffe or big bull elephants, you can experience a large diversity of birds and flora from a small spring valley up to different hill tops with nice flowering heather and so on. In the evenings we had nice barbecues and talks in the light of a big open fire place. Food is served in a main building where you can meet other guest, if you want. One morning we were surprised by the elephants who came just very close to our morning buffet:). If you love nature, elephants and luxury - This is the place to be!! ( And yes, the pool is refreshing and very clean!)…
