When we arrived our room was not ready for 3 more hours. The bathroom was really dirty, rugs stained, both TVs did not work. The bottom sheet on the bed barely covered the top of the mattress (with no mattress cover). There was no way to sleep on the bed without sleeping directly on the dirty mattress. No one was at the office so we both spent a really miserable night. The person who made the bed knew it was totally unsatisfactory and not appropriate. The next day someone came in a correctly made the bed with fitting sheets but the scene was set and our first short vacation since the pandemic left a very sour taste to us. We will never go back.
We are just home from 2 nights at the Madison Beach Club. When we arrived an hour before check in, we were told that the room wasn’t ready yet, but they would call us when it was. When we came back after an hour and a half to see how much longer that it might be, we were told that the room had been ready for a half hour. No call. Strike one. We then went into our room, and I will say that the positive was, it was not dirty to the touch. All surfaces were very clean which I expect, but also appreciate. It was very much in need of updating! The carpets were completely stained, the fridge, which was clean inside, was rusty on the outside. The freezer needed to be defrosted, and everything that you put into the fridge, froze. The bed did not have a fitted sheet on it (which I know, some hotels do not use), but one flat sheet just laying over the mattress and loose pad. It was too small to tuck in. So it just laid on top. That was not ok with me. After a couple of tries, we were able to get a second flat sheet so that we could have full coverage. The bed was ok at best. There was a dehumidifier in the room, which we needed to empty twice during our 2 night stay, not that its a huge deal, but you don’t expect to do that on a vacation. We also needed to clean the filter which was gross! The bathroom, which was clean, was as basic as possible. Oddly, the shower had only a space for soap, everything else had to be put on the shower floor, which is a pain for someone with back issues. The clean towels all had a smell of vinegar which was not pleasant either. I did go to sit by the pool for a few minutes and it appeared to be clean and well maintained. The location is good, but I can tell you that we will not be staying there again.…
Vacation trip with wife, daughter and daughter's friend - booked two room suite at this motel - $325 per night for the last suite available. Positives - motel exterior is attractive, outdoor pool is well-maintained, plenty of parking (large lot behind the motel), friendly employees, and good location (less than 5 minute drive to beach and Washington Street mall). The interior was different story. The living room and bedroom are small, worn-out, and badly need attention. Carpets were significantly stained, walls were marked up, and there was a pronounced musty/cigarette smell. The refrigerator and stove are old (stove had exterior rust). The freezer inside the refrigerator had not been defrosted in a long time, bathroom vanity light had burned out bulb, and there were no hangers in the bedroom closet - things that housekeeping should have noticed and fixed when the room was cleaned. There were two sets of towels in the bathroom even though the reservation was for more people - additional towels were provided. According to a notice in the room, Housekeeping does not enter rooms during guest stay (Covid?) - instead, guests are asked to put trash and dirty linen outside of the room and a bag of fresh linen is then placed outside of the room for the guest. We had a 2 day stay and spent most of our time outside - however, we would not stay here again. This is a 2.5 star (out of 5) motel. Two years ago, my wife stayed at the Grand Hotel and was very impressed. …
Without getting into details, Julianna from Madison Avenue Beach Club was understanding and gracious when we had to cancel last minute. We are a Coast Guard family, and MABC recognized that and helped us out when we needed it. Thank you! We will now place Madison Avenue at the top of our CM list of places to stay!!
My husband, a paraplegic, and I were looking forward to celebrating my birthday in Cape May. We've stayed at this motel before and were pleased with the room so we booked the same room. But when we went in, we encountered several issues. First, the bureau placement across from the foot of the bed didn't leave enough room for my husband's wheelchair. Then we realized they redid the bed, and the mattress was too high for his wheelchair. IT's on a platform so we couldn't request the box spring be removed. We were so disappointed and we had to do several work-arounds to accommodate my husband. In addition, although the handicap space is directly in front of the room, the ramp was all the way at other end of the motel. We won't be staying there again.
