So excited we was going on holiday and all. Nicely we got to this Vaal Prive. Walked past the pool, looked little green blue but nevermind we said, maybe it was from the rain that day you know. So we went inside, looked nice, big big kitchen and things. Put our pot of delicious lamb biryani on the stove to be eaten later. Unpacked and all and was gonna chill on the sofa. Little lot dirty it was but nevermind we sat and things. Were getting hungry so went to turn the stove on and Oyo! What a shock and fright of our life we had! Full full ants marching in our food! No warning sign on the wall or nothing. Lost our appetite and all. Made another batch and we ate nicely. After that nice time we had enjoying music and things. One other thing huh, so stingy they are with their wifire. Mxm! Oh ya and then, we decided to go by the pool and this rude manager came and gave us lip. Never in my life I saw so rude customer service. Then we wanted to sleep and another shocking thing I tell you, marks and stains on the bedding and pill-ows and towels. dunno what what marks and stains must have been there from previous gussts. Only way I fell asleep was from passing out because of the shock. One last thing, couldn't even go to the dam from this place. Have to go outside from one other road and all. R10 they charged us to go see the water. Okay one last last thing, what we saw with our eyes on their website was all nice nice. Must be taken long time ago but in reality Oyo! It's like Prive without the '
Hai! What kind like that. . .

We had an enjoyable and relaxing time on the Boat Cruise hosted by Vaal Prive Resort.

The captain was very welcoming and was very informative regarding how Gauteng receives its water supply from the Vaal Dam.

the only issue that I had was that the resort as well as the facilities requires some renovation and maintenance. Otherwise, a good time all round.

It was a nightmare we got robbed by people to working at the place they came in our room while sleeping.

The rooms are dirty and they say they got playstation but there no playstations and the hot Tubs don't work and it very out of of order.

Please shut this place down coz it not the first time people got robbed at this place.

Absolutely one of the WORST places we have ever stayed in. Their website has pictures from at least 15 years ago. Not covid friendly at all. Pool was green and dirty. Found bugs in the bed. No wifi or tv as advertised. Owner has a cocky attitude. Stay away!!!

We visited this "resort" after purchasing a GroupOn for a weekend away. Check in is only from 4pm - one would expect this to be enough time to ready the units, but:
- bedding was stained
- towels torn
- the kitchen was infested with ants.

The ammenities are oversold on the website, however the majority of them were unusable:
- the hot tub had no water
- the pool area was extremely run down and the pool itself left a lot to be desired - murky water
- the main reception with a table tennis board and a pool table is closed off after hours
- none of the gym equipment worked (other than some old free weights)

The "resort" does not offer decent views of the dam other than from a single deck which appeared to be reserved for special functions only.

Our main issue with the place is the management. We were unable to reach them telephonically or via email on the days preceeding check in. When we arrived management was very cold. Upon asking for the password for the free WiFi advertised, we were warned VERY rudely not to overuse it. Apparently a previous guest ran up the bill. The exact words from a member of management was "and if I can't use the WiFi then no one else can".

It appears that the "resort" has been very neglected either after being sold off to new owners or having been taken over by the owner's children. There is absolutely no interest in the well being or comfort of guests - even down to simple things like light bulbs not being replaced.

We definitely will not return, and have learnt our lesson that generally places advertising on GroupOn are struggling (with reason) - having either passed their heyday or are struggling to come up.

Firstly, the apartments are quite undesirable to stay in - the sheets were stained as well as the duvet. The kitchen was infested ants that got into most of our food on Friday night which we had to throw away. When we asked the manager about the wifi, we were given an attitude and a warning not to abuse it due to previous issues with guests - the manager was terribly rude.

Secondly, the same manager was again rude and arrogant on Friday night and complained about us making a noise when, in fact, we weren't. When we asked him if there were any complaints made, he got defensive and approached us as if he was going to get violent, then informing us that there were no complaints but that he could hear us however this was expected (and frankly, quite silly) since he was standing only several metres away from us. This is quite unacceptable in the hospitality industry as we did not feel welcome given this rude behaviour - there was a better way in which he could have handled the situation.

All in all, the stay was quite disappointing and I would not visit again, even if it was for free.

Probably the worst holiday experience ever! Planned a family get together to celebrate my wife's moms birthday. On arrival were a bit shocked with the general state of "the luxury resort" but in the spirit of family bonding we gritted our teeth and decided to make the best of it. We settled in and had a braai only to find the noise levels around us moving from lively, to deafening through to unmitigated chaos by our 930pm bed time. The signs suggesting an 11pm noise curfew were clearly a guideline only and we were awake well into the early hours as two rival parties continued in full swing.
On finally reaching the owner we were informed that the perceived noise levels were due to cultural differences and normal for this resort. We left the next day and got back to the now seemingly peaceful Joburg a day early, but our money is staying in Carl's safe keeping as "the system" doesn't allow him to make refunds!

I stayed at the Vaal Prive Resort for 5 days. The first thing you notice is the welcoming and friendly staff. If there was something we needed they went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. In our villa we had a full kitchen with a microwave, plates, cookware, and silverware that was all provided.

We would go out on excursions during the day and because it was the beginning of spring the nights were still cool. The staff checked to see what time we would be returning and started a fire for us so we would come back an have a nice fire waiting for us.

You have all the comforts of home at this resort. I would stay here again and recommend to my friends.

Not at all what it is depicted as. Stay away. Your money is better spent on groceries and staying at home. Run down to the point that the type of people it attracts results in the drunken noise of raucous revelling until after 2am in the morning. If rest and relaxation is what you going for..... don't come here!
