My boyfriend and I stayed at Doc’s Cottages as a getaway to South Lake Tahoe. I was so impressed by Debbie when I checked in. She is so nice, welcoming and extremely accommodating. She made an extra effort to ensure COVID 19 practices were met by providing hand sanitizer, clean pens and social distancing. We absolutely loved the cozy feel of Cottage 7 and were very impressed by the amenities and cleanliness of the room. We highly recommend Doc’s Cottages and will definitely return!

Angie and Lloyd, the proprietors of the Cottages are the most real and down-to-earth people ever. Truly nice along with Debbie who is always buzzing around the property, cleaning rooms for incoming guests.
Our two queen room with a kitchen was quaint and spotless and stocked with cooking/dining supplies. We even cooked a corned beef dinner for my husband's birthday.
The great location, pet friendly policies, moderate cottage rates and spotless conditions are some of the reasons we will return.
A really wonderful four day stay!

We stayed at Doc’s Cottages for the Forth of July weekend. We loved it! The cottages are adorable and only one block away from the main road so on one hand you can have some peace and quiet and on the other hand you are close to everything. We had cottage number 9 and it had 2 bedrooms, each one with a queen bed. My teenage daughter was excited to have her own room.
One thing to keep in mind, some reviews mentioned a private beach so I was assuming that there was a beach in front or behind the cottages. That’s not true. The closest beach is 3 blocks away and is called a Lakeside Beach. The fee to enter is $25 PER PERSON!! That’s just unbelievable!!! There are many free beaches in Lake Tahoe, Zephyr Cove, the little one by Marina bay - and it’s only about a 25 min walk from the cottages, Emerald bay beach - it’s a MUST and only about a 3/4 mile hike down to the beach, Kings beach, etc. We tried to go to Sand Harbour but at 8 am the parking lot was already full, lesson learned for next time.
We had a great time and hope to return soon. Will definitely stay again in Doc’s Cottages.
Thank you for having us!

I don't want to write this to make you think it's a bad deal.
On the contrary, I do it because I think it will improve this great place and help the other people who want to go and I know they will take precautions.
We found the place very pleasant, it had 2 rooms, 2 beds, a small kitchen, a normal bathroom that has heating inside, perfect for the cold.
everything looks old but cozy.
Something I recommend is asking the administration for more care in cleaning, there was a lot ...
Dust and grime on the walls, behind the frames and the beds. There were also many spider webs everywhere and I saw some ants. The fan was also dusty.
Looked like that they never cleaned the dust or spiders webs..
I arrive at night to clean since I have small children and it is dangerous and uncomfortable.
I also recommend to be careful when cooking in the pots because some were a bit rusty.
The bathroom had moldy parts, but if you are not careful with this do not pay attention.
It would have been great if they had a good cleaning team and who examined the rooms well.
After they make these recommendations it would be a cozy place.

It is an excellent place but needs more cleaning.

I stayed at Doc's cottage for 1 night in Aug 2021.
The check in experince was great. The lady who work in the front desk was kind and nice. She walked me to the room show me the room. The location is great, you can walk to the beach but the closet beach is charge for $25 a person to get in.

However, the value of the room is not really worthed to pay $260 a night. The cottage is small. There is one bedroom but it is as big as the bed. When I closed the door, I could not really breath, so doing a night I have to turn on a ceiling fan which makes noise. So I barely get to sleep at all. The furnitures are very old, bed sheets is so worn out. Moreover, the bed is uncomfotable. It is making noise every time to move around or get on,off the bed. I feel like I stayed in 1 stay hotel.

This is my second time staying here and I really like the location and the cottage itself. However, attention is needed to several items. The most important is the mattress in the smaller bedroom which is horrible. I sat down and thought I'd fall through, you sink in horribly. (I only weigh 155) Have horrible back pain from sleeping on it. My daughter 12, would also sink in.. The pots and pans had food stuck on them from the last person who used them, as did many of the plates/silverware, we had to wash everything before being able to use them. We also found many hairs on the sheets, which is always very uncomfortable, it feels as if sheets were not washed. The walls in bathroom need cleaning, as do blinds, the fan, etc. A good thorough cleaning is needed, not just surface cleaning.

As I said before, it's my second time staying at the exact same cottage. I plan on coming back next year and hope these things have been resolved, otherwise, I will have to look for a new place to stay for our yearly trip to the snow.

Just spent the Thanksgiving holidays at Doc's. We made Doc's our go to place for years now when we just need a getaway. The cottages are quaint and the hospitality is is superb. The location is ideal within a couple of blocks of the lake and Heavenly Village, steps to casinos, dining, and entertainment, We usually prep and eat several meals in our room and also take the opportunity to dine at one of the many amazing restaurants in Tahoe...most within walking or a short Lyft drive (Hell's Kitchen, Sage Room, Friday's Station, Chart House, McP's, Base Camp Pizza, etc.). Now that we are entering winter, a dusting or dumping of snow turns our cottage into a cozy home base where we can sip on a hot adult libation. By far my husband enjoys sitting on the front porch watching the parade of people stroll up and down Stateline and engaging in a vibrant conversation with owners Angie and Lloyd who we are blessed to know. All the cottages are a wee bit different from each other in size. All have a kitchen/kitchenette with a full stove and range. We have our favorites. I suggest you go to their website and explore which unit will best meet your needs. If a unit is not available on their website, give Doc's a call.

Doc's Cottages is conveniently located behind the parking lot of a large casino and walking distance to several casinos, the Heavenly shopping village and the lake. Even with being right next to so much action, the setting at the property was quiet and peaceful. The office has limited hours but the staff was super friendly and provided more service than we could have expected. Basically, they pampered us rotten :)
The interior of the cottage was nicely updated while keeping a cabin-like ambiance. The kitchen was fully stocked with all we needed for meal prep, including BBQ implements and a dining table. We loved spending time on the patio which had ample seating and dining space, BBQ, fire box and tiki lamps. Also enjoyed the electrical fireplace to warm up in the evenings.
Excellent service, quality accommodation, convenient location and a comfy home-like setting. Doc's Cottages is perfection at a moderate price.

Stayed in Cottage #9 with my Dad for a one night stay. We loved being able to share a place, but each have our own bedroom. The cottage was well appointed and decorated with care. The owners, Lloyd and Angie were very accommodating and friendly. You can tell that they take pride in caring for the place as they were busy washing the windows when we arrived. Angie gave me a hot tip to walk directly across the way to the back entrance of Harvey's casino to reach Starbucks in the morning for a hot latte. Debbie, who helps them on their days off was also very friendly and helpful. We will definitely recommend to friends and family who want a great place at a reasonable price with the perfect location at the state-line between CA and Nevada.

We love staying at the cottages. This is out second time visiting, they are cozy and have everything you need for a weekend getaway. We ran into some trouble when it snowed more than expected and we were not prepared with chains. They worked with us to give us some extra time to find chains or gave us the option to stay another night at a reasonable price last minute. Owners are very friendly as well. We will definitely we visiting again, next time with chains just in case. 😊😊

Hi~depends on the venue. I would check Hareveu’s concerts. However if a show plays they clear out by 10 pm or so and when your in Tahoe your on Tahoe time and it just blends! It’s an awesome trip if you go!!!! Keep those windows open and just enjoy Tahoe, it’s magic! Nothing compares!!! 💞💞

No AC but it doesn’t usually get hot enough in Tahoe to warrant anything more than a fan (the room had a fan that was “on” when we arrived. Very comfortable!

Hmm, not sure, the only places we stayed in had 2-3 steps to get in. I'd suggest calling them directly.

can we smoke in our room or outside on the porch or both
Answer from SavvyGrandma
San Jose, California3 contributions4 helpful votes
I don't smoke and appreciate the no-smoking in the room policy. There are no ashtrays inside or outside, which I also appreciate since I don't want to breathe second hand smoke when I open a window for fresh air. However, you're very close to the street, and there are no restrictions on the street. If you must smoke inside, you are right next door to a casino where smoking is allowed.
