This is my third time reviewing Doc’s and my third time staying here within a year. The first two reviews were 5 stars. Debbie is still awesome. So is Lloyd. Everything else, is not. Replacing the new property management company needs to happen soon as I foresee them being the downfall of a decades long tradition for many families. We had four cottages booked. One, was not made up and we were offered another one for the week. We explained we would take it for the night but would prefer to move to the original one the next day as we booked it due to being our favorite. The new management company argued with us (after waiting an hour to get a call back) as to why the other cottage they were giving us was so much better and how they were upgrading us. I explained we would prefer the one we booked. Finally, we gave in. I imagine they didn’t want to have to pay another cleaning fee. The one that we moved to was engulfed in grill smoke each night. It also had a terrible smell. The “upgraded” mattress toppers are awful - they roll up on you. Having stayed at Marriott Timberlodge and The Lake Tahoe Resort many times in the past, we priced them along with Doc’s for our upcoming stay. We were thrilled and suprised to see that with their special rate and even adding in the cost of parking and resort fees, the rates are very close to Doc’s - there is no longer a difference of $100+ a night. Sorry Lloyd, Angie’s memory (we miss you) and Debbie, but we are jumping ship. I guess the marketing plan must be to cater to a new crowd with high rates, uncomfortable, unthemed and ugly bedding, and free parking which really isn’t free as you raised your rates to cover that and some ridiculous and quite honestly, out of style RL bedding. Old style chic was much cooler than cookie cutter hip. For what it is worth, two of our cottages were used by mid - twenty year olds who were looking forward to the vibe of days gone by. They are planning a trip back with their friends and said, “we won’t pay $200+ a night at Doc’s as it isn’t the feel that we want anymore. We will pay more than that to stay in a place that looks put together.” On another note, I was back in town two weeks ago and drove by several times in hopes of seeing Debbie as I wasn’t able to personally give her a well deserved tip during our stay and wanted to do so. Never once did I see her truck - I hope they haven’t replaced her. If they have, I will gladly swoop her up to handle a business I am purchasing in the area. I hope Doc’s turns it around soon. I wish you the best.…

Another great trip at Doc’s. This was our second trip during the year and we have a third one planned within this year to stay at Doc’s. Why? Doc’s is quickly becoming like home. Debbie has been terrific. The location is great. To have a porch to sit on and people watch, a kitchen to save on food expense, an outside grill to enjoy an evening out, and parking outside of your door is unfounded. We are looking forward to our next stay with extended family who have not been able to visit the area in ten years. We hope they will be ready to return to Doc’s with us again. I wish Doc’s would sell me a share in one of these cabins so I could really call it home.

This is a very sweet little place, behind Harvey's casino in South Lake Tahoe (Stateline) NV. Many old time movie stars would sneak out of the casino via a tunnel and stay there. Each little cottage has a kitchenette and dining area. Debbie, the manager, is an absolute sweetheart who was willing to accommodate us when we were running late. I would definitely stay here next time I come up to Lake Tahoe.

An unexpected delight! We were attending a concert and these adorable cottages sit right behind the casino venue. Listening to the sound checks and rehearsals was awesome! Conveniently walked a few feet to the venue . Parking is located right in front of your cottage! Live music and restaurant right across the street. Debbie is personable and friendly and will take good care of you. Cottages are historic and unique. If you’re looking for fancy or all the bells and whistles then this place isn’t for you. But if you want a quaint home away from home with personal detail then you won’t be disappointed! We’ve stayed at numerous places in Tahoe and we will definitely visit this hidden gem again.

I love the Cottages and the history that surrounds them...did you know the "Rat Pack" and Marilyn Monroe used to escape the Casino via the tunnel that ends right behind the cottages...and stay there unnoticed :) Pretty cool. As for the here and now-the Cottages are perfectly located-walking distance to just about everything-the Beach, Harvey's and Harrah's...dining on the Avenue and all the shops. I park my car when I get there-and rarely ever need it till the day I/we leave...Also close to Camp Richardson and the Beacon! They may be old-but have all the modern conveniences you need. Try them out-next time you visit!
