Very clean room and facility. The non renovated rooms are starting to show their age a bit, but still very satisfactory. The front desk manager Austin McDaniel was very helpful and made sure we were satisfied with our accommodations. We’ll be staying here again!

I booked the Eldorado a few hours before arrival and I booked directly thru the Caesars website, so I was disappointed upon arrival when my non smoking room was no longer available and was told it’s because the system defaults to whatever is available. That did not make sense to me. However, the gal I was speaking with at the desk was very polite and was clearly trying to find an option as we discussed how it is to travel solo with kids and how tonight is my “me night” before I get my kiddos for the rest of the trip and blah blah blah. Needless to say, my disappointment went away when she was able to upgrade me to a spa room. If I could remember her name, I would tell you, she was very personable with myself who is a reclusive non-confrontational type and it was very much appreciated. I arrived in my room to find that it was a spa room with the tub and couch in here and while I didn’t use the tub because I sat on the couch and teleworked til midnight while watching tv (no cable at home so this was pretty epic), it was nice to know the option was there. And that the bed was extra cozy. And the shower was amazing this morning. My only complaint had nothing to do with this room, but rather that every restaurant was closed on this Tuesday near me. I walked around a few hours and found nothing open in the evening hours so I had beef jerky and a mini cliff bar for dinner. All that being said, I would still pick to stay here again. Oh, and sometimes hotels have creepy parking garages because I think about things like that, and this one was fine.

We rolled into Reno at about 6:00 p.m., after a long day on the road and without a reservation. We were immensely surprised to find that even the least expensive properties were well over $100 a night including report fees and taxes. We booked the eldorado online, parked and proceeded to check in. At check-in we discovered a line which extended well beyond the control mechanisms (The Velvet ropes) and hotel guests were merging from all different directions causing considerable tension about who had been in line the longest. If a hotel is not going put enough people on the front desk to check people in rapidly, it should at least provide crowd control so that the line is being served fairly and equitably. As I waited for more than half an hour in line, it became apparent that certain customers were more"important"then those of us standing in line because they were bypassing the queue and walking directly to the front, where the guest agents were serving them in preference to the people standing in line. There were only two guest agents on duty, out of a possible eight stations. Clearly this hotel does not want my repeat business or recommendation. At the front of the line I checked in and then asked to speak to a manager. The agent who checked me and said she was the manager, said there was no solution to the issue, and offered no compensation for wasting my time standing in line. My advice, avoid this hotel due to high rates and poor service.

Let me be fair by admitting that I go to Vegas quite often and I usually stay at the Wynn. I had realistic expectations understanding that Reno is not Vegas and Eldorado is no where near as luxurious as the Wynn. We stayed home over the long July 4th weekend. Pros -Good location at The Row. Connected to restaurants, shops and 2 other casinos -“Luxury” room was nicely remodeled -Good food options in the hotel. Roxy is a must! -Free parking that connects to the casino on the 3rd level -Fridge in the room -Free WiFi I was planning to give a rating of 4 but lowered to 3. Here’s why: Cons -The 10th (highest) floor is supposed to be non smoking. Not true! Saturday the hallway smelled like weed all day. Sunday and Monday we woke up to the room smelling like cigarettes. We are on the 10th floor so the smoke isn’t coming from the casino. I called the front desk to complain both times but nothing was done. We could hear other people opening their room doors to complain about the smell as well. -The first morning we had the do not disturb sign on the door. THE HOUSEKEEPER OPENED THE DOOR ANYWAY! -Stain on lamp shade -Toilet kept running because the chain is too long -The TV had limited channels. Not one free premium movie channel. 4 international channels, 4 shopping channels, 3 hotel channels, 6 sports channels. Sports may be a plus for some but there was nothing regular to watch. All of the pay per view movies are $19.99. No option to log into apps or connect a fire stick.

This was our first trip since COVID and we headed to Reno via Amtrak from the Bay Area - which was the purpose of the trip. We booked the El Dorado due to its proximity to the train station (2 short blocks). Masks were optional in the hotel, and the majority of guests were not wearing masks. We paid over $200/night and had a good sized premium King room on the 21st floor. A/C did not seem to respond to changing temperatures - room never went below 70 degrees, so not as cool as we would have wanted. Poor value for money which is really down to the little things: Keurig machine didn't work properly, no stirrers provided, creamer containers were curdled, no 'Do Not Disturb Sign',
