For an Hotel, I found the service to be extremely poor, Hotel was very dark, no lights were on, dogs on premises annoying, garden in terrible state, location of Hotel in very bad, noisy area.
Old Hotel which is not a problem, but need attention. Car park was fine. Reception was not open and walking to room from parking area was very dark and scary

A great overnight stop, on the long journey from Namibia to Cape Town.

Marius and Johan were wonderful hosts, and arranged a wine tasting at the nearby Klawer Winery, which was most enjoyed.

Dinner at Margo's the on site restaurant was very good but unpretentious fare, and all of us enjoyed our meals.

The next morning, we had an excellent breakfast before continuing our journey home.

After spending the day driving from within the Transfrontier Park, it was lovely to check into a friendly establishment and made to feel welcome. Lovely hot shower to help one relax and a good nights rest with a good breakfast in the morning to get you ready for the rest of the trip to Cape Town. Thank you so much and I will plan a trip again soon..... this time planned!

we were forced to stay the first night but made our exit early next day and found another place. the place was dark, dingy, cold and the whole aura made us feel very uncomfortable. we were travelling for business and needed to move around the different Towns. the online booking doesnt seem to be able to state that the 2 single rooms were not available and we ended up paying more. place needs some light and love.

We as a family had the privilege of staying at the Klawer hotel during our recent flower tour through Namaqualand. It was comfortable and the hosts were gracious and friendly. The food at the restaurant was great. Great overall facilities and people. Thank you for a great stay!

We booked for 2 nights on the 1st and 2nd September. However we left early the next morning we were very disappointed. The room was disgusting. Blind in the room was broken we had the street light shining in all night. The carpet in the bedroom was stained. The shower floor was filthy. Could not wait to leave. We were so looking forward to this trip we had wanted to use the Klawer Hotel as a base.

Rooms and bathrooms are clean and great service from the Manager and Assistant Manger, Johan and Marius. We did find the hotel a little dark in the interior but overall was lovely.
Loved our one night there

We booked a 3 sleeper chalet for one night at the Klawer Hotel on 20 August 2013 as part of our Namaqualand flower tour. Upon arrival, there was no one at reception. After milling around aimlessly for a few minutes, Johan (a manager or assistant) who had seen us arrive, finally deigned to assist us. The chalet is marketed as self-catering - all we found was a kettle! The chalet is far from inviting!! The electricity went out about an hour after our arrival (17h30). We were left in the dark and cold for the majority of the night. My mom, who is in her mid 60's, did not have an easy night! Management and staff obviously do not think guest's needs are important as no one came around to check on us or give us information about the problem. We were given a single candle after we had to trek in the dark from the chalet to the bar to request one. Upon checking out the next morning, we received no apology. We asked (very politely) for a discount as we had not received what we had booked and paid for. The response from Johan: the owner does not think it's his problem since Eskom is to blame. We wasted R600 for a night of crappy accommodation and an even crappier attitude to go with it! I won't be back to the Klawer Hotel ever again and would advise anyone doing the flower route to find alternative accommodation in either Vanrhynsdorp or Clanwilliam!
