Detailed Reviews
Excellent service rendered throughout from checking in to specially prepared dinner to meet specific dietary requirements we had and equally delicious breakfast which the chef created especially. Much appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the midst of pandemic. The establishment followed stipulated health protocols. The house-keeping team was lively and warm and went about their work as people who enjoyed and loved their tasks and understood value provision they contributed to for guests

+1
We recently spent a long weekend at Lythwood Lodge (four nights), and it was truly wonderful. We stayed in a Meadow Room which was beautifully decorated and looked out over the peaceful Midlands scenery, with Jersey cows lowing and munching across the fence. The grounds are lovely and tranquil, and the main building's lounges and outdoor areas are a great place to relax and read a book.
I was particularly impressed by the staff. Everyone we met was really friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were happy, whether at the front desk, housekeeping, or in the diningroom. Really, big points to all of you!!
And speaking of which, the food was truly delicious. We had both breakfast and dinner there each day. Breakfast was a full cooked breakfast, with cereal, yoghurt, and pastries. And dinner was superb: a choice of starters, three mains, and dessert. Some nights we were really hard pressed to make a choice! One evening's medallions of fillet steak with roast veg still sticks out in my mind as so yum.
We also did Lythwood's 'escape room' game in their chapel. That was an hour of really good fun with our two teenagers...well worth doing.
In all, our stay at Lythwood Lodge was superb. We will definitely be back, and I would recommend it to anyone. It was a great break.

What an incredible stay. Came here for our first night after our wedding and stayed a second night because we loved it too much. The staff were incredibly accommodating. The wifi was down so they came and put a router in our room just for us. We forgot to bring a phone charger so one of the staff lent us theirs. They made food with special sauce to accommodate my allergy as well. The room was incredible, the whole property is unbelievably beautiful, and the food in delicious! The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The property is tranquil and quiet with beautiful views. They also left rose petals on our bed and made a rose petal heart on our dinner table. Nice extra touches that go that bit further. Highly recommend staying here.

We had a comfortable room that overlooked the meadows (away from the main hotel). The bathroom was spacious , however the water pressure in the shower was lo and the water has a strong smell of sulphur. The complimentary WIFI was not available in the bedroom. There was a strong presence of flies in the bedroom, bar and dinning rooms, despite the hotel efforts of placing little battery operated fans between the food on the buffet trays. We awoke to the sounds of mooing cows, every day. The New Years Eve High Tea and Champagne is a traditional event , followed later in the evening with a 5 course sit down dinner and music with a local DJ, to dance in the New Year in the hotel dining room. This dinner was well presented and delicious. The Brunch and " Braai " on New Years Day was average.

Rate Lythwood Lodge as our best last minute getaway to date . Staff were unbelievable , nothing too much trouble , dinner top top notch normally expected of a top restaurant with room service an added bonus. Breaskfast buffet ( love buffet ) until 10am so no rush and the best we have had anywhere , the rooms very spacious , clean with all the little thoughtful extra's one can think of . Pricing from the pub to the food so reasonable not to leave with a bitter taste in the mouth on departure !! Above all , peaceful and quiet , superb !! Would"nt change a thing ,zero criticisms !!

I joined 3 other couples on a strategic planning weekend at Lythwood Lodge. Think of a farm with green rolling hills with cattle and sheep. But it’s also a perfect wedding and conference venue.
We made use of the conference Centre which was very well equipped. I guess it could accommodate 50 people easily (out of Covid conditions).
The staff are extremely polite, well trained and I noticed some are International Hotel School qualified.
Communication during the booking process as well as during the conference was impeccable.
The units (recently revamped) are worthy of their 4 stars. Yes definitely!
Note to parents :The venue is not ideal for young children but see it more as a place to eat well and relax.

Lythwood Lodge appeared to be a true gem. Located close to the mountains in Lidgetton in the KZN Midlands, it offers peace and tranquility. The logde itself is beautiful, it is well decorated and managed perfectly. All of the stall are extremely hospitable and friendly, the rooms (also the cottage where we slept on our way back from the coast) are very well equipped and comfortable. We surely intend visiting again, then most probably with the view of staying longer. Compliments to their managing team !

A picturesque and lovely country retreat. We came through to do a reconnaissance for a family members wedding and check the place out. We stayed in the house, unit 28 with family and were impressed with the size of the rooms and the comfort of the amenities. The WiFi was good and you get the rugby channel which is a must for me. The food was of a high standard, the steak well prepared to my preference and the wine list was superb with very good prices. The staff are friendly and attentive and the manager, John, is a consummate pro. For a family get away, I would definitely recommend Lythwood. The lodge is quant with stunning views of the Midlands that made me feel like I was on the shire in The Lord of The Rings. Loved my stay here and look forward to coming back for the wedding.

My wife and I stayed at Lythwood for our anniversary. We really appreciated the romantic turndown that was provided! The room was large, with a fireplace that was used in the chilly evenings. The breakfasts and dinners were of a high standard. The staff and service was truly the highlight of the stay. The grounds and surroundings were beautiful. The road to the lodge requires a fair degree of cautious driving, but manageable even with a hatch.
