I'm in love with this little village, we visit them at least every 5 years. I love to see all the changes since our last visit. We had breakfast on the deck with milkshake and cappuccino. I ordered french toast with honey, only to receive golden syrup with no warning, what a let down! But most important hubby and kids enjoyed their meals.

What a super place to go for a Sunday Lunch in this quaint village.
Do not be in a rush if you are eating there.
It is well worth arriving early to explore the various buildings that contain many interesting items and artifacts.
It was a "Real Blast from the Past" for us.
We did not go for the Sunday Carvery and had a little difficulty in ascertaining exactly what is comprised or its cost from the waitress.
Their Biltong Soup is tops as was their Curry.
The meals and pricing is very good.
We did not explore the hotel or the accommodation offered.
It appears to be more on the Self Catering side.
It is located off the Main Road between Cathcart and Stutterheim and is accessed via a good sand road.
Nevertheless we shall return in the not too distant future.
It is well worth the drive!

this is a very interesting place, with a rich history. I could not find any info, a friend recommend that we should go to this little "dorpie". The owner is busy to restore the old town from yeastier year. The old museum is awesome. If a ever travel on the N6 I will definitely make this a stop over.

There are some interesting things to see in the various buildings, however all is dusty & poorly maintained. We had planned to stay for lunch, but a visit to the toilets put an end to that. It would not have been possible to stomach a meal after the awful sour smell in the toilets.

Stopped over at Thomas River for a bite to eat and leg stretch. Children enjoyed seeing all the old Wagons and Bushman artifacts. So peaceful. Sat on the deck and had lunch. Food was great. Staff very friendly.

If it's solitude you are looking for then this is for you. We caravaned. We were the only van there. No view. Restaurant closed in evenings except week end. Very little to do
ablutions need attention
We were bored after 3 hours. Maybe it's just us.

This is a wonderful remote area for a week-end getaway or just for the day. They have rustic very well priced self catering units that can accommodate over half a dozen people each, a handful of museums with a fair amount of history, a rock art museum, a beautiful church built in 1888 plus a pub/restaurant with exceptional prices, service and hospitality among other things. A mountain bike, hiking boots and bass fishing equipment is definitely a must.
