The exterior of the motel would certainly scare away the interstate princesses who insist on high end accommodations, but for regular folks like ourselves this place was great. The rooms are actually really beautiful, with gorgeous true wood paneling, and brand spankin' new bath fixtures. Beds were comfy, and the wifi was great in this very remote part of Montana. Really nice family running the motel, and the general store. Rates were excellent, even in the high season. Any tired travelers that need a restful stop would do just fine here at Mangold's...

My wife and I just came off a 3rd year of vacationing here. This is the most perfect place to go to enjoy the outdoors. Our two girls 16/18 love the river on the property. We always make reservations for Cabin #6 it's the best. It has two queen beds and a pull out hydabed. There is a nice patio off the sliding glass door and the room feels so cozy. Our girls like to explore the river and catch frogs and snakes. We started up here 4 years ago and spent three of our four vacations here. We have a Jeep Rubicon and there is so many roads up in the mountains that we plan on going back again. This last vacation we spent ten days here and didn't even try to put any work into picking huckleberries and got 10 plus quarts there. We could have easily filled a 50gallon drum full of them if we wanted. We found high alpine lakes that was breathtaking and 2 times ran into a grizzly bear. That was my mother-in-laws first time seeing a grizzly in the wild. My wife and I always are out in our Jeep we see bear all the time but this place is special. The people you run into up in the mountains there act like family. Never met a jerk up there like you do in other places. The bar down the road is just as friendly. I bring my kids and family there and am always treated great. And Terry & David the owner of Mangold's motel are the best of the best people.

Let me be clear, I love Mom and Pop motels, especially ones on an interstate frontage road near the Idaho-Montana border. Mangolds is nestled in the mountains and backs up to a scenic stream. It is located next door to a store which stocks all the necessities and then some. The rooms are clean. A bar/casino/restaurant is a short stroll (1/4 mile) away. It is convenient to Lookout Pass and the Hiawatha Bike Path.

Roads were bad and we had to stop for the night. Located right off the highway this was a great choice.
The general store had a great variety of supplies.
The room was clean , comfortable & a great shower. Also pet friendly ( 2 cats with us).
There was a Keurig in the room & we enjoyed coffee in the morning.
Tina & Misty were the nicest ladies and very helpful to us in digging our car out of the snow.

I’ve driven past this place many times and never thought it looked like much, admittedly. However, we decided to look for a room in the area last minute while attending Silver Cloud Campout in nearby Haugan after the forecast became less than desirable for camping.

As it turns out, this little motel is quite cute! Small cabin type rooms with a microwave and refrigerator, and VHS movies for rent at the store. It’s located along the St Regis river and a small waterfall. It was super peaceful sitting out there at night. Chairs and a grill are provided. I would stay here again just to sit out by the river again!

Sweet humble couple own this place. Upon arriving it looked a little sketch, not gonna lie (were not typically motel visitors) but, upon entering & checking things out it was an awesome, simple humble place. Definitely not for haughty taughties but for those looking for every detail covered, soft cozy beds, a calming river waterfall & a “pet” beaver roaming around, this is the place for you! We stayed in cabin 6 -2 queens, & a hide-a-bed perfect for party of 5-6 little deck outside by the river. To Big Texas Thumbs up!

The rooms were clean and roomy. The shower was very nice. The store was handy and had much to offer. Refrigerator and microwave alone with Kerig in the room. Located just 10 miles in Montana from Idaho.

My best description is "rustic". Most of the guests were hunters and or fisherman. Not sure that my wife was very comfortable as we both kept weapons close by. Sitting by the river was very relaxing. The staff is friendly and helpful
