We were called at 8pm the night before we arrived to tell us our ghost town ATV tour was cancelled. They didn’t make other arrangements for us. They pick us up at the airport at 11am. We were so excited to start our paws up adventure. We knew that our room might not be available till 4pm. We arrived at noon we had a nice lunch. Then we tried to get a ride over to the outpost to see what we could do for the afternoon. Everything was booked except for horseback riding which we had booked for the next day. We could do geotracking on our own. That was a bust as guest have tinkered with the gps so we could find anything other than a lot of dust in 95 degree weather. The archery was available to do on our own but the bows looked like toys you get a Walmart so my teenagers didn’t want to do it. We went back to get dessert and a cold beverage transpiration took forever. At 3:55pn they messaged us that our house wasn’t ready. By this time the seats were getting very uncomfortable and we were getting very bored. Finally after telling the desk we were losing our patience that our tour was canceled and so on…… At 5pm they said our house was finally available and our luggage would be at the house. It was except for our two shopping bags purchases we made in the morning at the Missoula farmers market. They accused us everything would be safe when we left it. They never did give us any update about our lost items. They also got us on an ATV ride the next day right after our horse back riding which was great except had we planned it we would have spaced our activities apart a little bit. Not back to back. On the ATV ride we found out they start canceling ATV ghost town tours 3 days before and had to reschedule people. We didn’t get any notice and had to beg to get rebooked. That was not nice. The dinner when we arrived was a once a month picnic. We felt special. Except the next night was a bbq with basically the same menu. My boys wound up ordering room service when we got back. That was disappointing we had to eat two nights in a row out side in the heat and serve ourselves. The employees seemed like they all just arrived or if they have been there. Month were not happy with management. I would have to agree. We found out the white water raft we did the day before we arrived in Missoula because originally they didn’t have a place for us. Turns out they saved us $900 for the tour and $3000 for the room. So that made. Us happy but not happy that they charge 4times what it cost in town. We wanted to do the go carts but it was booked. Once we found the track we were super happy we didn’t do it. $155 pp for an hour. The track is super small!! We had a good time but way over priced for what you get. The food is basic and not enough choices. So thank goodness we didn’t stay for the normal 5 day minimum. Thanks for that Paws UP!!

Hotel's Favourite
I hesitate to even tell people about this resort for fear it will become even more popular. The food, the bikes, the horses and most of all the staff, its all fantastic. It is a world class campground in an awe inspiring location. We went in May for a much needed break from the virus lockdowns and it was just what the doctor ordered. We shot guns, rode electric mountain bikes, rode horses and ate/drank to our hearts content. Everyone from the owner Mrs Lipson, to Steve the managing director, to the Executive Chef Sonny, did you not only get to see on a regular basis but were very involved and a working ingredient of the Paws Up experience. I can't recommend it enough. But perhaps the most wonderful part of the trip was when the staff brought our 22 year old daughter up on stage at the chuck wagon dinner and played Pomp & Circumstance, gave her a Paws Up diploma and cap with fish lure that she had to flip over to the other side of her fishing cap. Due to the Covid she had to skip her college graduation and I commented to the Steve and Sunny that I did not think I had ever seen her look happier than that evening. The wonderful glow from the evening sun was no match for the glow she had as she proudly marched back to us. Thanks again for the unbelievable three days and we will be seeing you soon again with a bigger crew in tow. Sorry this thank you has taken this long...oh and our camp hosts, what fun we had with them. And our horse wrangler, thank you so much for the liberty to actually ride our horses, so much fun. I wish I was there right now.

Response from Steve Hurst, General Manager at The Resort at Paws Up

Dear A2114NWjimh, Thank you for writing this review, we very much appreciate you trusting us with a vacation in May with your family and we had such a great time celebrating your daughters graduation! You have a wonderful family and I am pretty sure we enjoyed this experience at least as much as she did! Don't worry about telling others, we will remain with 37,000 acres and very few people. We like giving people a sense of a private national park, and you and your family are family to us now, so we will always have a place for you! Sincerely, Steve Hurst Managing Director

Very disappointed with accommodations at Paws Up Morris House earlier this month, continued request for resolutions with management have been unresolved. There were pile of flies on the porch, dietary requests that had been discussed at length were ignored, beds sagged in the middle were some of the many issues we experienced. The staff onsite was great and the activities were outstanding however we did not feel that it was worth the price tag. We recommend that you look at the many other resorts that are available.

The good: Amazing activities. Highly recommend Salmon Lake for incredible water activities (Anthony was awesome), go-karts, fly fishing, archery, clay shooting, horseback riding. Food is generally great and the Big Sky dinners and The Yard dinners were really fun. Guests are happy and nice and the events are all organized so that you get to know people. It’s so much fun. The bad: Really dated, borderline unclean rooms. Housekeeping doesn’t clean them well either. They just replace towels and empty trash. Given the cost of the resort, we were pretty shocked how poor the cabin quality was. It was gross. Summary: the resort is spectacular but the rooms need a big update, housekeeping needs to be better, and service needs to be a bit more even.

Amazing!!! The property is absolutely incredible. Service was wonderful - minus check in which definitely should be better for price. AND portrait session pricey - $700 sitting fee. Main bar should stay open until 11pm. Aside from that is was perfection!! Our overall experience was incredible - the group didn't want to leave! Everything fell into place, someone was always there to help, food & drinks were off the charts AMAZING - 5 stars - incredible & we loved all our experiences/ guides. I loved restaurants, etc were environmentally friendly. The horses were so sweet & beautiful - we had to the best horseback ride. Group also went fishing, rafting and go karts. It's rustic luxury at its best. We had such nice guides and drivers: some names - Eric, Steve, Joe, Courtney (best massage I've had), Kurt (best bartender!!), guy with handlebar mustache - didn't get his name, but he was awesome! But ALL of our drivers were so great. Thanks Paws Up for a lifetime experience!
