We came with high expectations based on the stellar TripAdvisor reviews, and our stay met and exceeded expectations at every turn. Mark and Leslie are such gracious hosts! We were in town for a family reunion, and I asked if a couple of family members could join us for breakfast on one of the mornings. No problem! My family noted that they felt like they were eating at Downton Abbey – breakfast was so elegant and special. And as noted in other reviews, Mark is an accomplished chef. Our daily breakfasts were easily the best meals we had in St. Louis (and they were able to honor my husband’s request for no pork). Room was quiet and well provisioned, and provided us the respite we needed. Location is in a charming neighborhood which allowed us to have a nice walk in the morning before breakfast. Frankly, the stay couldn’t have been better. We look forward to returning on our next trip to St. Louis.

Property's Favourite Review
If you are interested in a gentle getaway that takes you to a simpler, yet elegant time where literally no detail has been overlooked to make you feel welcome, then Fleur-de-Lys Mansion is for you. From the approach to this gorgeous early 20th century mansion, set among abundant flowers and mature trees, the loving care is evident. The Innkeepers, Leslie and Mark, met us warmly, knew our names and gave us an interesting history and tour of the mansion. There was a delightful array of fine cheeses and fruit with wine available for us to relax after our journey and the hosts were adept at 'reading the audience', understanding who was in the mood to chat, and who needed to unwind. The mansion itself is exquisitely appointed and beautifully restored, filled with many period antiques, but subtle updates provide bountiful comfort, including the most luxurious and comfortable beds with the softest lavender scented sheets I've ever experienced. Each room had comfortable sitting areas and thick, fluffy towels and pillows. Other unexpected conveniences include several ice makers, mini fridges, delightful teas, homemade cookies and biscotti as well as snacks available at all times. We were asked what time we'd like breakfast and Mark, who is a culinary genius, surprised us with the most delicious breakfasts we've had in years, including some totally unexpected surprises, like homemade lemon curd vanilla bean yogurt with fresh compote and homemade granola. The breakfast burritos were incredible with a smooth queso sauce and black beans with chorizo. My husband and I both gained a few pounds. We started each morning of our stay with a walk around the beautiful neighborhood of Compton Heights and found several quaint restaurants within walking distance for evening dining. We have stayed in dozens of Bed & Breakfasts over the years and nothing can come close to the warmth in the details we experienced with Leslie and Mark at the beautiful Fleur-de-Lys Mansion. We will definitely return and bring friends and family with us.

The Fleur de Lys Mansion is really the best place to stay in St. Louis. Besides being a beautiful mansion furnished with period antiques, it is in a great location. It is minutes from Saint Louis U, Tower Grove Park, Shaw’s Gardens, Lafayette Square, and Compton Heights. There is parking behind the mansion and across the street. But what really makes the Fleur de Lys special are the innkeepers, Leslie and Mark. They are both warm and welcoming and make you feel like the Mansion is also your home while you stay there. We were with other family members and had three rooms for three nights. We felt very comfortable sitting on the back patio visiting in the evenings and gathering for breakfast at the long table in the elegant dining room. And speaking of breakfast—Mark is a Michelin quality chef. Every meal was creative and delicious. Leslie gave us a tour and told us the history of the mansion and she was always ready to answer questions or give us tips on things to do. There are five guest rooms that are beautifully furnished and all have en suite updated bathrooms. Our Reservoir Park room was very comfortable and had a bay window overlooking the historic Compton Water Tower. This was our second stay at the Mansion and we highly recommend it.

I've been traveling to St Louis for years and only recently discovered this place. So glad I did because I'll keep returning. I've been traveling all over the world since 2000 and this place is now at the top. The hosts a so warm, food is magnificent, with a menu carefully curated by a chef (one of the hosts) and the lodging is beautiful, comfortable and peaceful inside and out, with beautiful landscaping and outoor lounging spaces. It's an oasis in the middle of the city. Don't miss it!

The house is charming and in a beautiful historic neighborhood. The bed and linens were top-notch. But the best thing was the delicious breakfast - everything was scrumptious and served with lovely vintage tableware. Plenty of privacy with separate dining tables. Would loved to have stayed longer.
