2021 Travellers' Choice Best of the Best
Located in Provence, the historical village of Grignan is home to our charming 4-star hotel: cross the gate and enter through our garden. The joy of life is felt in our distinguished rooms offering views onto the garden or fountain. Our private house offers home felt comfort 100 meters away. Le Clair de la Plume, always open, proposes a gastronomic restaurant with fresh products of Provence. "Bistro" in our farm (400m away), and tea room every afternoon in the main house. For those warm sunny days, our organic Mediterranean garden offers (200 meters away), not only another outdoor restaurant, but also a natural, chemical free swimming pool. Among this garden, we offer our lovers' pavilion; for those special vacations just for two. Finally, in the village centre, our gift shop offers scents & traditions of Provence.

We stayed for five nights in August. It is utterly charming. The rooms are old style beautiful and breakfast in the garden was a delight. The staff were attentive but not overbearing. Our room was large and tastefully decorated with antique pieces but the best thing was the view across the garden and town towards the castle. The town itself is gorgeous with lots of good places to eat. We ate at the bistro a couple of times and were not disappointed. The pools are both lovely but the natural one is a bit slippery on the bottom. Both pools have fantastic views. I would definately recommend this hotel for it's old school charm, fabulous service, good food and fabulous location.

Very nice setting at the foot of the romantic chateau of grignan. The entire staff was very friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent with nice suprising twists by the chef. The use of local products and the attention to details increase the pleasant experience. The chef visited the tables personally and reacted immediately to specific requests. I can also recommend the location for coffee, tea, hot chocolate and desserts, latter are made in house and are excellent. Also during the christmas festivities the different rooms are nicely decorated. Don’t miss their small shop in the village center, where you can buy their desserts, cookies and other specialities to go.

We booked for one night but could have stayed longer.. we were warmly welcomed, offered an upgrade, a beautiful room in a traditional house, everything you can imagine a french room should be. only a few minutes walk to the Chateau de Grignan. Our meal at the restaurant was fabulous with a stunning view of the village. Will definitely return.

Been to this hotel and to the restaurant many times in the past years. It is exquisite, and beautifully presented and spotless. The food is excellent and the service is great. I'd say the only problem is that it has become perhaps a victim of its success and the prices have rocketed up. It is cozy and calm even in summer months. The main hotel gives you the impression of staying in a friends house. The inside smells of roses and beeswax, delightful. There is another building behind which has charming rooms as well and which is perhaps even more quiet. We like to stay in the top rooms of that one. There's a lovely view onto the beautiful little town from there . Breakfast is perhaps my most favorite meal there, there are delicious things to eat all with sorts of breads and cereals and jam. The company has taken over other buildings in this little town, so if you're looking for a place with a pool, you can also go and bathe and have a meal there. The main restaurant has become very expensive, which wasn't the case a couple of years ago, but it really is very good and you will be impressed by the wine list. This is perhaps not the place to take children, at least not the main townhouse in the middle of the village, but if you're looking for a quiet romantic weekend this is the place. Kids and families can stay at nearby Ferme Chapouton which belongs to the same owner

This was a return visit for us to Grignan. We stayed in the main hotel in the “Ecriteur” room on the first floor. A relatively spacious room that is decorated with style — better lodgings than our room in the “Maison Privee,” where we had stayed on our prior visit. Good modern bath facilities with good quality linens and toiletries. Our visit was on a Monday when the gastronomic restaurant was closed (which we knew when we booked and probably accounted for the lower room rate). The menu choices for their other restaurant rid not appeal to us so we walked into the historic village and ate at La Poeme instead, which was superb (see my separate review). Breakfast the next morning at the hotel was charming, but a bit pricey (23 euros). One warning: the access to the hotel is difficult and confusing. The road is blocked off about 50 yards before the entry to the hotel — problematic if you are traveling with a lot of luggage, as we were. The hotel is capable of removing the barrier so that you can get closer but you need to call ahead or walk up to reception and make a request. Also, on Tuesday mornings, the outdoor market takes over the entire roadway by the front of the hotel. There is a back entrance off the north side of the hotel but you need to know where it is. And, if you miss that entrance, you are on a one-way street that takes you into a rabbit-warren of other one-way streets into the historical, walled village, from which you ultimately emerge about one mile to the north of the road to the hotel.
