Detailed Reviews
We happened to come across the gem looking for accommodation on a drive past. We phoned Denise who was with us within 5 minutes. The B&B is their old home and is still set out like that. The only sea view room was occupied, so we settled for one of the rooms at the back with a small but enough view of the sea. The main area of the house is huge and very comfortable (the biggest leather sofas I have ever seen) looking out onto the huge view of the sea. The main balcony is also very large and welcoming. Denise is a busy but warm host....with two wonderful little dogs. She comes round every morning to cook breakfast and was very helpful with information regarding the local area. We were lucky enough to see the biggest school of dolphins chasing a shoal of fish...on our second morning. The area is quiet, the room was very comfortable and the breakfast delicious. Everything was very clean. The wifi was strong and the TV has plenty of channels esp films if you fancied doing nothing in the evening. If we are ever back in the area we will be booking again. Thank you Denice

We made our booking at lekkerslaap.com. We requested an ocean view on suit. Denise received us very friendly. The house is big with so much potential. We stayed for 4 days. We did not have any wifi access as advertised. Our room (Whale) does not have ocean view except if you go and stand right at the corner window you can see bit of the ocean. The room does not have a on suite bathroom, it is next door. Not the room or bathroom has been serviced for 4 days and no clean towels (and it has been raining). The linen and room desperately needs some upgrading. The bed squeaks with every move you make. You can make use of the kitchen in the house but the room is not provided with a ketel and mugs to make coffee/tea in the room. The house has a lovely ocean view porch for the use of all guests. If some attention to detail is given it can be a lovely place.

We stayed here for for two nights. Very nice, safe and comfortable location. Great ocean view and good facilities. The breakfast was simple and self-service based as there was no personnel to serve it. We stayed in the Sea Gull room which was cheapest but lacked the ocean view. Good choice if you're a budget traveler. Otherwise you better choose the Shark Room which has a magnificent ocean panorama.
Overall I'd give an AAA to this very nice and reasonably priced B&B. Great for couples, probably less so for families with small kids or disabled persons (stairs).

Myself and my family came for the weekend as a family member was getting married in Stanford. The first night we arrived we had a break in and our cellphones, wallets and handbags were taken from the side of our beds, while the alarm was set. We then realised the beams did not work at all. The owner, when contacted, aggressively arrived blaming us for the break in and took no responsibility. We decided the next morning to change our plans and book elsewhere as we now knew the alarm was broken and did not feel safe staying there. We politely told the owner’s wife of our plans. A few minutes later, the owner verbally attacked my family, swore and shouted at us and told us to get the ‘eff’ out of his house immediately. The owner is unstable and no one would feel safe staying in his home. We are very grateful to have found a beautiful place in Stanford for the night.

We stayed one night in 49 on the cliff. It is an villa house which is fully furnished and now rented to travellers. Although there was nothing wrong with the accommodation (clean, nice view, etc.) we were very disappointed in the service. When the owner arrived after calling him on the phone, he announced that the breakfast we had booked will not be served because of his wife’s operation, a fact which is of course totally understandable but unfortunately he made us nevertheless pay for it. He showed us some leftovers of milk, cornflakes and old juice and disappeared after having indicated where to leave the money the next day.

Response from Denise O, Owner at 49 on Cliff
Responded 15 Dec 2017
Sorry that you were disappointed we do try to make sure all our guests leave our guesthouse happy... You were not charged for breakfast that is charged extra I especially went into your booking to make sure... The reason for you not being served breakfast is because I had to have an emergency opperation out of our control...

Excellent stop off for our cage diving. We had 2 lovely nights, our host Denise couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was great as was the service and the views are out of this world. The cost is amazingly cheap for such a special place. Thank you Denise.

We booked originally a smaller double bed at 49 On Cliff, but due to our longer than normal duration, we got an upgrade from Ian and Denise to the ocean facing larger double room with balcony access, all Free of charge....

We originally booked Whale Sanctuary lodge (now Sea Star on Cliff) but we could not stay there because the forgot to tell us the where rebuilding the lodge.
Denise of 49 on Cliff was our Saviour in bad times. Fortunately we could stay with her for 2 nights.
Our room was not that big but there was a good bed and a superb shower.
The deck to view the whales is not private but we had a great time together with the other guests.
All guests our sitting together at breakfast telling there story of the previous days. We enjoyed it and had a great time.
Thanks 1000 times Denise !

we stayed in the shark room on our first stay which was for 3 nights, OUTSTANDING, wonderful room facing the ocean, loads of storage, doorway to balcony, fantastic bathroom with everything, use of all facilities kitchen, washer, lounge, Denise is the most wonderful host and goes above and beyond to help you from booking restaurants to giving great information on where to shop, where to visit, and will add you on Whats App so that you can contact here easily we were so sad to leave after 3 nights at the property that when we got to Cape Town for our final 7 days and were a bit disheartened with our final destination we got in touch with Denise and booked a further 2 nights at her property. this time we stayed in the Whale room...
Denise make the most amazing pancakes too, these have to be tried
We were so pleased with our stays we already want to add this to our 2019 itinerary as a place to stay when we return to South Africa
