Ngumula will take your breath away, a hidden gem of Mozambique!!! We stayed at the lodge for just over a week between May and June for our wedding celebration holiday.
It is truly the most incredible place and the location is just magical. There are no words to describe it, you have to go see for yourself. There were 16 of us in total, we did a mix of
self catering and catered for. The food was divine, the owner Chantel packed on a gorgeous spread of food for us throughout our stay. I am vegan but Chantel and her staff went out of their way to make sure I was well fed, it even gave me a few ideas to take home with me. The lodges are fully equipped and beautifully laid out with the most amazing views. There are also great things to do nearby, diving, fishing, snorkelling to name a few as well as snorkelling just in front of the lodges. A fun game of volleyball, why not and kayaking on your doorstep. There is a local shop just 10-15min drive away which is well stocked. Oh and don't forget about the local pao bread which is made daily, so good!!! But most importantly, our wedding day was unforgettable, more than we could have ever imagined and asked for. We can't thank Chantel and her smiling staff enough for helping us make our dreams come true. It’s a location of inspiration and where dreams are made. Thank you so much to Ngumula Lodge, Chantel and staff, and of course beautiful Mozambique. We will be back!!!!

We are a family of six that stayed in Unit no 5 over the Easter break for a period of 8 nights. Chantel the owner was friendly and made sure that from the time we booked till check out everything was perfect. The self catering units can accommodate up to 8 people and the rates are reasonable. What stands out from the other establishments is the close proximity to the beach, just a few meters and you can enjoy the long peaceful coastline dotted with local fishermen. The location is also great as you are close enough to other activities and Inhambane town, yet secluded for a peaceful and relaxing beach break. We were spoilt with fresh fish, crayfish and prawns, Frans organized what ever we needed. The unit was cleaned everyday by the friendly and always willing staff. It is well equipped, very comfortable with the AC a blessing for those warm evenings. We enjoyed taking early morning walks and sometimes would go out fishing with my son on the surf who caught a lovely yellow king fish. The Moz waters here are so clean and warm, the nearby beaches of Guinjata approx 5km are great for swimming, in front of the chalets there are rock pools and a great to snorkel during low tide. One can reach the lodge grounds with a 4x2 but I would suggest a 4x4 so that one can explore the stretch of coastline without restrictions. This was one of our best beach holidays, and would highly recommend, we can’t wait to be back in the near future during the whale season.

For about $20 pppn, we had an entire four bedroom house with a huge kitchen, three bathrooms and direct access to the beach, to ourselves.

The staff were very helpful and friendly and arranged fresh crayfish and trips to the supermarket about 15min away.

The accommodation includes a fully equipped kitchen, air conditioning, barbecue, a daily cleaning service, ice maker, safe drinking water and snorkeling and kayaking can be arranged. Each chalet comes with its own little splash pool and outdoor furniture.

This place is a real gem and the best value for money in Mozambique.

Despite arriving in the dark after an incredibly long journey, we were warmly met by Chantel and Ngumula manager, Frans, who showed us around our lodge, which was above and beyond our expectations. The open plan kitchen, dining-room and lounge area which leads out onto the wooden deck verandah, was so comfortable, beautifully decorated and the perfect social set-up for our party of 11 (8 adults and 3 children). We loved having an ice machine, 6 plate gas stove and OVEN, outdoor shower to wash off from the beach and the pool with the view!

The beach is clean and diverse - paddling, body boarding, snorkelling, searching the reef for shells and kayaking were all part of our daily activities. We were able to hire the kayak and life jackets from Ngumula, which added to the fun for the boys! The staff at Ngumula are phenomenal, from the management to housekeepers, fish cleaner and night guards!

Chantel and Frans procured all our fresh fish from the beach and bought us pao and drinks on their visits to Inhambane. We were made to feel extra special! There is a well stocked store at Guinjata and a visit to the market in Inhumane is a fun cultural experience.

We have visited this same beach area several times before, but were completely blown away by our stay at Ngumula and we are already planning our next trip back to that special place!

If ever there was a piece of heaven in Mozambique, it would certainly be Ngumula Lodge! The friendliness, helpfulness, honesty and entertainment of ALL staff members is something other establishments can be inspired by. From the friendly welcome by owners, Chantelle and Mark to the last goodbyes by the friendly helpers at the pump house - everything was absolutely perfect!

For the first time in months, we could all relax, unwind and enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean on the one side and the never-ending palm valleys on the other. The lodge is situated on a private beach just south of Coconut Bay and the houses are beautifully furnished and provide all the comfort and luxury necessary for an unforgettable family beach holiday.

Frans, the chief and Petrus, the house boy are more than willing to provide you with fresh fish, prawns, calamari, crayfish, coconuts and Portuguese rolls at any time. Fatima, the cleaner is never seen without a smile. OBRIGADA!!!!

If you find yourself looking for a spot of paradise to spend your next holiday, make sure to book Ngumula Lodge - you will NOT be disappointed!

If you are looking for peace and tranquility, then this is the place. We booked 2 self catering houses. The view of the ocean from our house was amazing. What we loved is that we could wallow in the little pool on our deck and we could watch our teenagers swimming and body surfing in the sea. The staff are amazing and are so helpful with anything you want or need. We would go out and explore on some days and then relax and chill on others. The bedrooms are air conditioned which was fantastic at night when you needed to get away from the heat.
I would recommend this wonderful place. We will definitely go back again.

Thanks Chantal, Frans & team for a fantastic venue for our 1st trip to Moz. Although it was a 2-day trek from Jozi, it was worth it, though not long enough. We'll be back, and for longer next time. The accommodation & space were ample and well equipped; the service was fantastic and the ocean view, whales and isolation added to our relaxation. We simply loved it and was so sad to pack up to return home. See you next year!

Great house: spacious and well equipped including 2 x en suites, air cons, industrial ice machine, freezer, splash pool, friendly service and a wonderful view! One can swim, snorkel, surf and fish right in front of the house. We had lovely weather and no mosquito's. Dive centre, shop and restaurants a short drive away. Thanks for the efficient airport transfer despite a delayed flight and stocking up on essential groceries for us. We didn't want to leave and would love to go back! Thank you Chantal, Franz, Fatima and team!

This was our third visit to Ngumula Lodge - the area and the lodge itself hold a very special place in our hearts - and because of that, we decided to have our wedding here!

With 6 houses, all being able to sleep 8 people each, it was the perfect home and setting to host our family from Australia, Switzerland, Germany, South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe for a total of 17 nights.

The lodge arranged for a taxi shuttle to collect our guests from Inhambane Airport and transfer them back again on the day of departure.

We had our wedding ceremony under the gazebo overlooking the ocean and we held our reception for 82 people inside one of the houses. We had hoped to have our reception out on the wooden decks, but as the wind and rain were being a little tricky, the set-up was moved inside and it worked perfectly - and everyone fitted comfortably!

The owners, managers and staff at Ngumula had been involved in our wedding planning for several months and they worked SO hard to make our dream day a success! Thank you to Chantel & Marc Hammick for their enthusiasm and efforts in making it all happen. The manager, Frans, and his assistant, Petrus, arranged for their church choir to sing on our wedding day. They all donned their best suits - and did an amazing performance at the gazebo during our service. We were very touched.

The beach at Ngumula is second to none and it is a serene and wonderful place to be. Extra efforts are being made in the area to clean up the beaches and this is evident.

Our guests enjoyed snorkelling and scuba diving with the two centres based at Guinjata - Guinjata Dive Centre and Jeff's. We also had some tremendous meals at Santa Fe, where the service was phenomenal.

I can honestly say that in all the times we have been to Mozambique this rates as the best family and friends holiday to date.
The houses are clean and the plunge pool in front of each house is a total win for the kids and parents alike.
The Bedrooms are all air-conditioned and the fact that the borehole gives you clean and very drinkable water with pressure is an even added bonus, no more lugging water around.
The beach is on your door step and although the swimming area could be better you have plenty swimming areas within 5-10 min walk along the beach.

Hi Lefer, You will most likely have to buy your veggies and fruit and bring in. There are markets in Inhambane that sell fresh produce too, about 20 minute drive from the resort

Dear Bianca, If I understand your question correctly it is normal for clients to make a deposit and then a full payment before arrival at the Lodge. This procedure is normal at all lodges. If you book one month or less before your arrival date, then a full payment needs to be made Hope this clears up the question. You are welcome to e mail with any other queries. Many thanks and have a great day Chantel
