Owner run, self-catering casitas & one of the most popular beach bars in Barra; Neptune’s Lodge & Beach Bar offers a friendly, island style vibe just steps away from the clear, warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Barra boasts an array of activities to suit all; ranging from boat trips to Pansy & Survivor Islands; diving, ocean safari's, amazing beach walks; snorkelling with sea horses to kayaking through the unique Mangroves & surf lessons. Neptune’s rustic beach bar specialises in the local, delicious Mozambican cuisine as well as your seafood favourites. Our awesome calamari, prawns & crab curry (bought fresh from the beach) are a popular choice, of course with a generous splash of the famous ‘peri peri’. Neptune's is known for lighting an impromptu bonfire on the beach along with a drumming session and local singers (quite the characters!) An awesome way to spend an evening in Mozambique, soaking up the atmosphere under a perfect starry sky with a local Tipo Tinto Rum or three! Our homely casitas (small houses) have all you need for the perfect beach holiday. Nestled just over a small dune from the beach bar they are all personally decorated and furnished with a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and private braai area. If you are lucky enough you can spot the odd breaching whale from your sundowner deck and to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean is something else! Thankfully we don’t have a bustling mall close by or a tar road with traffic lights but to us this is paradise. If you, like us enjoy the simple things in life, colorful &friendly people, breathtaking beaches and a slow, relaxed pace of life we are sure that you too will have found your piece of BARRADISE!

Stunning location with our feet in the sand. The ocean is calm, great for swimming. The staff and owner are very hospitable. . They have lots of games and a tv to watch any matches. We really enjoyed the delicious calamari poppers.

Such a beautiful location with a really laid back bar and restaurant with very friendly staff and terrific hosts in Jo and Wayne...wi-fi available in the bar/restaurant too! Loved the crayfish and varied seafood dishes.....terrific pizzas and great cocktails such as Hello Murphy!

Accommodation was ideal for self caterers too and the all important air con in the bedroom was a blessing ...love the outdoor secluded shower too

Fishing charters and scuba diving let alone kayak safari in the mangroves and so much more!!

Sea was so warm and family friendly as you could walk in a good distance before it became deeper...plenty of places nearby to surf and even the famous Jordi Smith rates this locale...Whale watching from the bar in season its a wonderful place!

Really miss this place so relaxed before you have a Manica beer or cocktail!

A spirit of adventure, fun and GOOD times reside here.
We experienced Neptunes lodge at a time the owner's could have given up, a fire the night before had taken all but the their restaurant. (Incl personal belongings )

But seeing the owners so brave in the face of adversity and making the best of such a difficult situation, the very next day! Opening the resturant, providing the charters and scuba courses!
:-)
This is not only a lodge, it's a family.
You become a part of it when you visit.

You do not need a 4X4 to access Neptune’s, great staff, helpful and very professional. Lovely beach just be careful of the blue bottles. Food great, there is a swimming pool that you can use. Restaurant situated in such a manner that you can keep an eyes on the kids. Another great venue that you can spend a great few hours at.

A group of six of us friends stayed at Neptune's lodge for 2 nights (wish it was longer) and loved it. The location right on one of the most beautiful beaches was one of the highlights. The casita's are rustic but great with a lovely front braai area, outdoor en suite bathroom and lovely upstairs viewing area. We received great hospitality from the manager which made the stay even better. The restaurant/bar on site is situated right on the beach and the food was great. I would suggest adding a muesli/yoghurt options for breakfast. The lodge is not within walking distance to a town or tofo and apart from the ocean/diving/excursions, you will mainly find yourself relaxing on the beach. The lodge does not have a pool for public use as the pool on site is used for the diving school. We definitely plan to stay here again when we return to Inhambane. You cant go wrong!

Bar and Restaurant right on the beach in Barra. Enjoy one of the best pizzas in Mozambique and have a R&R. Accommodation is fair and you can also whilst here go on a dive trip. Jo, Roxy and Wayne will make your stay an unforgettable one. Excellent place to bring your kids with.

Last week we had a great time at Jo and Wayne’s place, Neptunes Lodge at Barra. The new casitas (bungalows) closed to the sea are fully equipped and very clean. You have the white beach and blue sea (nearly) for your own. We went by boat to spot the whales and snorkeled with the largest fish in the world, the fantastic and impressive whale sharks. The restaurant with the friendly staff can easily compete with the nearby Green Turtle restaurant. In quality and certainly in price.
The lodge is actually nicer in real than on the pictures on the website. We hope soon to come back again!

We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite for our 12 day holiday at Neptune's. It really was an amazing experience. From the room (newly built) to the amazing food and drink, the owners (Wayne and Jo), manageress (Roxy) and the staff (Too many to mention) to the amazing scenery and diving all I can say is...PERFECT. We loved out stay and will definite be returning in future. I can really recommend this as your base when staying in Barra. We has a few relaxing days of just eating and drinking, some amazing dives, Quad bike, Kayak and Dow tours as well as a visit to Tofu for dinner at the hotel.

Not only is the beachfront (yes truly beachfront) restaurant the most popular and offering a myriad selection of food stuffs from savory waffles to delectable fresh seafood but they now have newly built air conditioned suites ideal for couples and single travelers in addition to their funky self catering family units. Oh yeah and then there is that 1st Floor "honeymoon suite" with amazing views. Overall Neptunes is now a top class resort.
