Barra Dica Resort is a well established resort, founded by the Bean's in 1996. The new owners (The Vissers) took over in December 2016; and continued the hands-on management style, together with a terrific team of local assistants, to ensures that you will have the very best service and an unforgettable stay at this stunning location. As well as being one of the most beautiful places on earth it also offers exceptional value for money. The location is such that at certain high tides, the resort is then on an island for a few hours which certainly adds a certain charm to the idea of an island holiday. The resort offers self-catering accommodation in traditional Mozambique "casitas"(chalets), Palapa camp-sites, with private bathrooms. All amenities are clean and well-maintained.

We enjoyed the most fab family holiday at the lodge in their rustic very clean chalets on the beach. Lots of palm trees and the best place to charge your batteries after a busy year. Excellent value for money! A lot of activities available but we only wanted to sit, ponder and rest.... Staff are very friendly and helpful! Kudos to the new managers! Thanks for another unforgettable Moz holiday - cannot wait to see you again!

What a great place ! We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed greatly the relax atmosphere with the beach at 2 minutes walk. The sea on one side and the bay on the other is just marvellous. Owner and staff really nice, common area gives great holiday feeling. If you want to be alone on the beach, that's the place. Best alternative to crowded Tofo.
Will go back again for sure.

We went to Mozam for 1 week. We went there as friends but when we left, we left a piece of our heart. The family at Areia Branca makes you feel like you are apart of the family. The most amazing view from everywhere at the chalets. The Visser family (owners) makes you feel the love. So helpfull, even when you get stuck the minute you arrive, untill you leave. The shells and flowers we received every morning through the window just shows you that the happiness is never leaving. Areia Branca andVisser family, see you soon.....

We stayed here for six nights in a chalet overlooking the lagoon. The lodge was comfortable with all basic facilities supplied. Oom Jan and Joey were good hosts. With it being low season the resort was almost empty and we had a lot of personal attention. We sat at the bar and chatted to Joey on many occasions. The locals come by every day selling basic supplies. Fantastic sunsets and wonderful beaches. There is also a good restaurant at the lodge next door. Tip – Ask Joey to organise your trips at a much better price than the beach sellers.

I am almost reluctant to give a review on Areia Branca because I would love to keep it as our own little bit of paradise and not let it get over run. We spent a week camping here and are already planning when we can get back. The locals come by selling fish, prawns, crays, bread, vegetables and fruit each morning.
The campsite is clean and very well looked after. Joey and Jan were great hosts and checked in on us each day.
Being Australian I am very fussy with my beaches but this beach was pure magic. Soft white sand and crystal blue water. The kids swam ALL day. You can drive down onto the beach to unload your gear for the day which was great and so convenient. So many bars and restaurants within walking distance but not noisy at all. Highly recommend Areia Branca.

From the moment my family and I set foot on the sand at Areia Branca, we were in total awe and amazement at the beauty surrounding us and the wonderful feeling of being on an island as the estuary comes in at high tide. Our hosts Debbie and Louis were delighted to invite us in and assisted us at every moment. It is thanks to their hospitality, kindness and willingness to share their space and time, that my family even with the challenge of a disabled person, managed to have an absolutely memorable vacation. The accommodation in traditional Mozambican design was spacious and neat with all the amenities required. If not for anything else, visit this place just for the magnificent sunrise and sunsets which make you appreciate the simpler most precious things in life. Whether you're outgoing or not, friendly or not, adventurous or not, Areia Branca will cater, fulfill and exceed your every need and expectation of making your vacation one to remember.😃

It is far and a long drive from Durban but all worth it once your arrive at PARADISE END. Unspoilt beauty, comfortable, well maintained rustic chalets that blend into the magnificent surroundings of this resort developed in a coconut grove overlooking the amazing estuary which beauty changes with the tides. Best of both worlds, a short walk over the dunes takes you to the most spectacular beaches. One can walk for miles on this literally "squeaky" clean sand (it genuinely does squeak - it's quite weird) and not to mention the crystal clean, sparkling turquoise ocean and magnificent shells. The most spectacular sun rises and sun sets I have ever seen. The sun rises over the ocean and sets over the estuary.
Debbie & Louis Trichardt who manage the resort were the most wonderful hosts and made sure that we enjoyed every moment. They took us sight seeing, pub crawling, showing off all there was to see in this magnificent part of Mozambique. Chef Louis turned out some mean dishes - he's a seafood master chef and takes pleasure in tantalizing taste buds.
The main building / entertainment area encompasses an amazing bush pub with a such a vibe and the swimming pool is right there. What a setting.
We spent 10 glorious days there but all good things come to an end. I was so sad to leave there. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone, especially for a family holiday and a fisherman's dream.
Thanks Debbie & Louis - you are the best

The best of both worlds, the Inhambane estuary on one side and the warm Indian Ocean on the other. Tucked amongst the dunes are the comfortable chalets of Areia Branca Lodge. We were there in April (2013) so it was nice and quiet, without the hustle and bustle of lots of holiday makers. The bar area was lovely and rustic with all one needed to quench one’s thirst on a hot day and the swimming pools cool water offered welcome relief from the heat. A snorkel off the reef in the lagoon was fascinating – sea horses, stone fish were two of many wonderful sea creatures to be seen. No touching allowed. A trip to Tofo is a must which is 10 mins away by car. The locals will provide you with all the fresh sea food you need, but be careful not to get ‘ripped’ off. The sunrises and sunsets were out of this world. Louis & Debbie were the perfect hosts and the two resident dogs made themselves comfortable without being a nuisance, if fact they were great. All in all a wonderful relaxing time was had by all.

Room Tip: choose a chalet at the back, if the wind blows off the estuary it can be rather unpleasant.

Great view and location at Barra, close to everything with magnificent views on both sides with easy access to both the estuary on one side and the ocean on the other side. Many activities in the immediate vicinity for everyone
