We booked a 6 sleeper cabin with Susan. Upon arrival, we were the only people there as this is the low season. We were offered a 8 sleeper house at no additional charge.
The food is great. Good variety on the menu, and the prices very fair. We spent a lot of time with Freddy and Susan and Calvin in the pool as it was very humid. What great hosts. Arranged a dhow trip to Pansy island for us and a deep sea fishing charter. Freddy cooked the fish for us that was caught. Palm flies are a problem in Inhambane, so take precautions. The pool is the best place to watch the sunset over the mangroves sipping your R&R or 2M.

We had lovely days at white sands. The beach is close to walk to. The price is very fair for the campsite and we were the only ones so we had the newest ablution. We told the owner himself what we would suggest to add or to change, so we will not put this out here. It is a magical place and we enjoyed our stay.

We had a few meals there while staying over elsewhere, so I can't comment on the chalets, but the camp site looked really nice as well. The food was very good and the beer ice cold, with good menu and drinks choice. Good friendly service and a beautiful location!

If you are looking for peaceful surroundings, a well equipped self-catering unit that does not look like a run-down shack, this is not for you. I agree with others, the owners only really care about the bar and restaurant. We requested photographs of the cabin at the time of booking, but was told that they were busy with renovations. Needless to say, we expected something similar to the units featured on their SafariNow listing. Surprise, surprise... It was shocking, to say the least. There is no privacy either (the downstairs bedroom and kitchen is right next to the barbeque area of the neighbours). We only stayed for 3 days (booked for 14). To be fair, we were refunded for 11 days (most likely because we booked through SafariNow). Never again (this experience almost ruined our first trip to Mozambique as a family)...

Our first trip to Moz & unfortunately White Sands was one of the resorts we booked at.The owners should discontinue the campsites and just continue with the bar/restaurant which is obviously where they make their money, from day visitors & students. There is absolutely no regard for their campers/holiday makers. Music pumped from 10am to 11pm/12pm EVERY DAY. Our campsite was less than 100m from the bar area. Then the lodge next door was also playing loud music 12 hours a day. Its fine if you pop in for a drink and meal, but try staying there! Pool was dirty! Dish washing facilities disgusting. Mens Ablutions disgusting (hubby) I used our caravans. Braais were never cleaned. Our neighbors braai was a pile of rubble. We found an alternative camping resort on day 5 & packed up & left. Obviously Susan would not reimburse us. Best decision we made. 2 Clean pools, stunning ablutions, owners came around every day to see make sure we were happy. Complete opposite management. We really felt sorry for our neighbors who were just as unhappy but had booked for 3 weeks & had no alternative but to stick it out.

We have been to Mozambique before and this was the worst lodge by far. The music till late at night. The owner that do not care. I will never again go to White Sands Mozambique. Our neighbors refused to stay and I wish we did the same. Bad equipped cabin. Really bad.

We had the most exquisite memories today!
We booked for the Sunday lunch special. OMG!!!! The food was superb! A mix of SAFFA and local Mozambique cuisine. Just delicious.
The kids were occupied in the infinity pool for hours!
The vista of from the restaurant onto the sea was too beautiful for words!
No the weather was not the best and yes there was an electrical problem, HOWEVER, our food was top notch! The service was friendly, and after the high tide retreated we were on our way!
Thank you for honesty the best day ever!!!!

What an absolute blast! The best food, super host and hostess. Beautiful beach and lagoon. The only bad thing is the good bye. Will return again and again. Thank you Susan and Freddie for a lovely stay, your hospitality and best food in Barra. Will see you soon!

We went there to go on the catamaran, but this place is almost not existing. Nothing is going on and the place is falling apart. It needs a big upgrade to look like it looked before. Friends of me also been there and had a horrible experience.

Stay away !!!
Campsite is terrible and dirty.
Saltwater showers.
No place to wash dishes or clothes.
The scullery was leaking into our campsite.
Swimming pool was disgusting.
Owners don’t care about anything but the bar.
Much better options available.
