I spent 2 nights at Breezy Point cabins, looking for time to myself. It was exactly what I was looking for in every way. Right on Lake Superior, close to north shore state parks and Superior Hiking Trail, beautiful cabin. Quiet and cozy.
This small jewel of a resort is snuggled among pines directly on the rocky shore of Lake Superior just 25 minutes north of Duluth. Peaceful and quiet, with private fire pits and indoor fireplaces for each of the 12 beautifully renovated and updated cabins. King beds, spacious baths, modern kitchens with all cookware needed made traveling easy for bringing our own food during the pandemic. We were in Cabin number 5, which is also dog friendly. Fantastic sunrises and sunsets from the large lake front windows. Firewood on premises. Just a lovely place!
This was our first time staying at Breezy Point Cabins and we have already booked for next year. This is our idea of a relaxing vacation - cabin all to ourselves, listening to the waves, having a private fire along the water, comfortable cabins with full kitchens. Plus Mocha Moose coffee and sandwiches are a short walk away! It's off the main road so walking or biking are easier and safer. Watching the waves and the ships coming and going doesn't get any better.
My daughter and I were just up there for three nights and it was a blast!! We have been here several times before and look forward to our next visit as soon as we leave. We had a fire every night and listened to the water of Lake Superior lap up on the rocks. It is also near almost all of the tourist attractions. This time we went to the Glensheen Mansion-beautiful and interesting. We also took a hike to the high falls at Tettegouche State Park-lots of work but worth it at the top. The cabins are the best. We always stay in Cabin 11-which is a studio-with all of the amenities. Stove, fridge, dish washer table to sit at. Nice big bathroom. King sized bed and windows everywhere so you can see the sun come up and star gaze from bed. It was an awesome trip as usual.
We were lucky enough to grab a cancellation for a Fri/Sat night stay over Labor Day weekend. While it would have been great to have a 3rd night, even two nights at Breezy Point on Superior is worth it! We were in Cabin 12, a studio, and it was simply a magnificnet footprint and a spacious enough cabin to feel comfortable in. Everything was in great condition, they reminded us to bring our own blanket since they have removed their heavy comforters. The window onto the Lake--both at night and upon awakening was simply perfect. Jackie is a great manager, and while we were "disappointed" she couldnt find somone to cancel for Sunday night, her presence and deamnor is perfect for the facility itself! We made three weekend pilgrimages to the North Shore over the summer. The other two were for three days each. ISLAND VIEW RESORT, our first weekend, was also great. And the owners of the resort were decent and kind folks. The Units were a little more spartan than Breezy Point, and the setting is across the road from the Lakeshore, but the cabin was clean and priced accordingly. We would certainly visit again. We will not be visiting Larsmont anytime soon. The quailty of upkeep and the responsiveness in that upscale Odyssey Resort(same owners of Breezy) leaves a great deal to be desired. Our unit at Larsmont was not clean and was filled with dead flies. Having told the front desk and written about it on our evaluation, we never heard back from them. SO HERE IS THE DEAL. For socially distant getaways where you can prepare your own meals and feel good about your stay: FIRST PLACE and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: BREEZY POINT ON SUPERIOR-all around excellent! RECOMMENDED: ISLAND VIEW RESORT: clean, ma and pa cabins, price appropriately and worht a visit! NOT WORTH IT: Larsmont. Overpriced for the facilities current presentation.…
