Detailed Reviews
We stayed here on a Saturday and upon arrival we were greeted the front desk was very helpful and quick at getting us in our room. Liz was Super helpful and also suggested things to do in the area and places to eat. There is a great pool area and they are attached to Anytime Fitness and guests are allowed to use there facilities, it was a great stay and we will always stay there on our travels and recommended to anyone going through the iron range area must stay. Kudos to the management wonderful staff and beautiful property.

We checked in and they were training in someone who was humble but helpful. Staff was very friendly and gave us all the details we needed, such as where to park the time for breakfast and wi-fi information. The room was immaculate. That's pretty rare and so it was great to have a very clean room. Breakfast was good enough. They have hot items like eggs, potatoes and sausage, oatmeal, coffee, etc. and your standard cold items like, milk, juice, cereal. I asked if they had dairy-free creamer and they didn't. I think it's a special treat when they do. Checkout was fast and easy. If you want to stay here, please note that it is across the street from the train tracks. This might bother some people. The hotel provided ear plugs. We didn't need them. Yes, the train went by several times but we could barely hear it. We did hear the horn but it was short and then it was just a very low rumble - more like white noise. If you are sensitive to this type of noise, this may not be the hotel for you. We didn't find it very disruptive.

The hotel was clean with friendly staff. No elevator and we were on the second floor. Breakfast snack bags available in morning with great coffee....which was dispensed from behind the desk to insure safety. Oh yes, it’s very close to a train track that rumbles by several times throughout the night with a whistle blast. We didn’t mind but some might.

My girlfriend and I have come to the American Inn with 2 other friends on multiple occasions to enjoy the hot tub and pool, and up until last night I was always allowed to bring my girlfriend in for free access with my Anytime Fitness membership as an additional plus one. I was rudely told by a lady at the front desk with black hair and dark brown eyes that my girlfriend would have to pay $6.41 this time to swim when she has never had to pay before every single time that we’ve come here. Even though this had made me frustrated at her demeanor we agreed to pay the access fee only to later find out that she had allowed my two other friends who we were meeting there to swim in the pool and hot tub for FREE without charging them, and neither were Anytime Fitness members.. this front desk lady is charging whoever she wants and allowing whoever she doesn’t want to charge right through those doors, and it is extremely unprofessional and not a way to run a business appropriately. I wish to further get in contact with the Manager or owner of this American Inn to escalate this issue. Completely ridiculous.

Good Afternoon M4317KVjp, I appreciated the opportunity to discuss this with you! Once again, I apologize for the unprofessional service. Our relationship with the Anytime Fitness attached to our building is a win/win relationship for both their members and our guests. Thank you for your understanding that we can only allow actual members in at no charge to use the pool and outside guests will have a minimal charge. Again, I do apologize for the inconsistent actions of the front desk in this siutation and thank you for your time to discuss this issue. Have a GREAT Day! Jim Makowsky, General Manager

The property is located right by railroad tracks, but they have ear plugs available if the trains bother you. Trains don't run late at night. Rooms are clean and fresh. It's like home away from home. Breakfast area is clean, food is hot and quite good.

First the building and then the noise.
It’s an older not updated building in my opinion. The room was clean but again older. It was adequate for our needs. The staff person was great. Very friendly and helpful. Staff followed social distancing guidelines.
We’ve stayed at a lot of AmericInns and this is the first one I’ve seen that had a bar —serving liquor in the hotel. I didn’t like that at all. Not appropriate in a family type hotel in my opinion.
Second, the noise. We didn’t know until check in that the hotel is close to a busy train track; literally 20 yards away. There were multiple trains and the train horn blew just as they went past the hotel. In fact, to mitigate the noise, hotel management provides ear plugs for guests. We found these on the nightstand. So, the train noise impacted our sleep.
Would we stay here again? I don’t think so, due to the noise.

There was a bottle of lotion in my sheets and the fridge was not cleaned. There was a full pizza and other leftovers in there. Whoever was supposed to clean the room probably just made the bed and didn’t change the sheets. For some reason they didn’t bother opening the fridge. If they didn’t bother to change sheets or clean properly there was most likely other things not cleaned in the room.

I booked my rooms In April for my daughters wedding in July, booked a suite for the space getting ready. I was told Thursday stay only a double room but could switch Friday - Saturday. I also reserved 2 other rooms for family. On Friday i was told my suite was only for Saturday which was not what i agreed to when booking, why would i want to switch the day of the Wedding!! With that being said i agreed to keep that room and book an additional room then for getting ready purposes with 4 people in our room. When i checked my parents in they were giving their room key but did not go to their room went straight to the wedding. When they returned around 11 pm that evening they went to their room which wasn't ready, beds had been slept in etc. They went to the front desk with the issue and was told there were no clean sheets available or rooms so they put them in the conference room next to the pool and bar with no bathroom but out in the bar area. When i found this out after returning from the wedding i confronted the front desk. They had a room for them and i got their key. On top of this, they were going to charge me for one extra room i did not ask for so there would have still been one available clean room when they put them into the conference room!!! The other room that was booked my girlfriend stayed in but we misplaced the key which i wrote her name and room number on, so we were given another set of keys for her room. In the moring at breakfast we found out that they had given my parents her room and her a different room than what was on her room key. They are very disorganized and very unprofessional to deal with and still have not received a call back from the manager Liz to clear up any charges for an extra room i did not reserve. Our room also smelled of wet damp yuck. The toilet was sweating water all over the bathroom floor. The train is directly behind the hotel also. Would recommend finding another hotel.

Spacious and clean rooms, a comforable lounge area adjacent to the lobby, and two very good restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast is provided and it was average; a less sugary cereal selection, along with bananas, berries, and/or nuts to put on the cereal, would have really been nice. Unless you don't mind trains that sound like they are running through your room, be sure to ask for a room on the front side of the hotel, away from the railroad tracks. Those shortcomings aside, I am giving this hotel a 5 star review because of a few extra amenities. It is located within 20 feet of an Anytime Fitness gym which was free for guests to use, and it has a small bar adjacent to the front desk where you could get a delicious Alaskan Amber draft beer for $3. And also the charming staff ... they were friendly, quirky, and helpful.

This hotel although under construction the last time I stayed (I’m a repeating costumer) still has some of the best staff and clean rooms you could ask for. The gym facilities connected as well as hot tub and sauna are great. The rooms have a nice mini fridge and the suites have a great tv room. The complementary chili is the second best reason to stay!
