On the corner of 9th and Hennepin in the heart of Minneapolis’s historic theater district, The Chambers Hotel takes center stage. Built in 1908, The Chambers has had a front-row seat to the legendary Orpheum Theatre’s groundbreaking performances, from the Marx Brothers’ vaudeville act to Prince’s hometown debut. Click through a few photos from our scrapbook below. Here at The Chambers, we, too, have a famous flair for the dramatic. Our 60 art-infused guestrooms and suites have walk-in rain showers, deep soaking tubs and sweeping views of vibrant downtown. A show-stopping rooftop lounge and lush courtyard with a fire pit are prime spots to admire the scenery on Hennepin Avenue. And 12,500 square feet of event space — including a pristine, blank-canvas gallery — await your creative touches. The skyway just steps from our door leads to the Target Center, Target Field, U.S. Bank Stadium, the Mississippi River and the colorful culture of the Twin Cities. Bravo!

Super comfy room with luxurious bathroom (deluxe king) that was bright all night due to marquee on Hennepin despite shades being pulled down. In room coffee/espresso was a nice touch as well as the continental breakfast. People always congregating in alley behind hotel were aggressive several times. Hotel desk clerk could not help us find correct parking lot and did not know streets that were 2 blocks away, so we spent an extra $20 on parking and 30 minutes with clerk on phone trying to find their parking lot (he said repeatedly that it was not clearly marked).

Last week myself and my coworkers were on a business trip to Minneapolis staying for several nights (19 "room nights" in total between the 5 of us). My brother passed away losing his battle with cancer so I had to fly back early only staying 2 of my 5 nights. The hotel said they were unable to issue a credit for the other 3 days to my American Express Platinum OTA and they were unable to 'switch' my room with my associate that booked through Marriott reservations to allow them the 3 day credit. Both individuals at the front desk said that their cancellation policy cannot be changed. I understand and appreciate the need for such policies, but I do know that exceptions can be made in such circumstances and I know first hand that this has been the case in other Marriott flagged properties. When my team returns in a few weeks and throughout the year to Minneapolis, we will be staying at another historic hotel in the area which has 4+ stars for simiIar DAR. Also, some of the room layouts are a bit odd with the rear of the shower in front of the room door. Some of the shower heads in some rooms randomly release of spurt of water in the middle of the night.

Great downtown location and funky room with ample space and a fun vibe. Definitely recommend. Friendly, helpful staff! Good onsite restaurant for room service. Near entertainment district, but the immediate street location feels a bit of “no man’s land”

I stay in a downtown Minneapolis hotel for about a week every month and I’ve been varying my selection over the last couple of years to find the best place. PROS It was conveniently located on Hennepin. They don’t have more of a boutique feel which is good for those looking for something outside the norm. Decent fitness center for the size of hotel. Typical Marriott benefits for those like me with Titanium Marriott Bonvoy status including free WiFi, free breakfast at Mercy, and a free bottle of water in the room. CONS Not skyway connected which is almost a must in January. Loud noises from the construction on Hennepin avenue—one of the few times I’ve had a white noise machine in my room. Multiple mornings where I had no hot water in my shower and the staff was slow to react, they did compensate me with some extra points after I brought it to their attention a couple times. The elevators do still have a weird kerosene smell which you’d think they’d fix after so many people complain about it on here. No on-demand HBO like other Marriott properties. VERDICT Overall a decent hotel. I’d stay again and based on the photos from others the suites look pretty nice (no upgrade for me despite my titanium status). There are better choices in downtown Minneapolis for the price.

After a phone the day before to confirm my room and after receiving a text that my room was ready, I arrived after a long flight and was told they were overbooked and I could not have my room. They were filled with platitudes about how much they cared for me but unable to make any reasonable accommodation. I travel to Minneapolis twice a month. I will never consider this hotel again.
