I have the hotel 2 stars because the pool was clean and warm.... however the rest of the place was outdated and needed major repairs. We were placed in the 'prime suite', the room was very outdated, water stains on all the chairs, no ability to adjust the temperature in the room, tiny bathroom and the room smelled so musty and dingy I thought the carpet was wet, it may have been! The parking lot is unpaved and full of large potholes. Continental breakfast was all prepackaged foods, no waffles were served, I'm not sure if this is due to covid restrictions.

Make no mistake. This property gets an average rating because there are some great things about it and some awful things. Nothing here is actually average. Great: - They are genuinely pet-friendly; accepted our 80lb lab mix with no additional charges, and that is much appreciated. - Location - near the Miller Hill Mall; 8-10 mins from downtown Duluth; 5 mins from Duluth International Airport and airbase. - Easy check-in and check-out - Affordability - a very reasonable price. Poor: - Musty rooms - Air conditioner / heater mounted so high you need the chair to set the temperature (in a handicap-accessible room, for god's sake), and when it runs it sounds like you are inside a machine shop. Overall, it's passable - just barely - if you are spending a night for a bed and a shower. Not worth it as a destination. A special mention: ...must be made about their parking lot. I am not exaggerating when I say unequivocally that it's the worst I have ever seen in 35 years of travel. It looks like the F-16s from the nearby base use it for target practice, as it will bottom out many small cars and could cause suspension damage. The outrageous part was that it's been like this for YEARS, and the fact that management has not addressed this relatively simple issue is insane.

SO wish we wouldn’t have paid when we booked! We should have known how we would’ve found the room from the parking lot...but we powered on. The room smelled horribly of must and mold, which was blowing from the air conditioner (a window unit that was built into the wall, probably around 1985...) When we pulled the comforter back, the bed appeared like it had RECENTLY been slept in...sheets hadn’t been changed and there were hairs all over them. We went to the front desk to ask for clean sheets and the lady got them and said she couldn’t believe that we found it that way. No offer to change the sheets, or give us a different room. She was pleasant enough, but probably could’ve used some customer service training. We’re thankful we are only staying one night...we will NOT be recommending this place to anyone. The folded toilet paper was a nice touch though. 🙄

Old and in serious need of an update. The parking lot is horrible. The room was clean but there were so many things wrong, I can't begin to list them. The room was a huge suite with a big hot tub. There were no extra blankets and sheets for the pull out bed, but the pleasant front desk lady got them for us right away. The room seemed clean enough but the room was dark and dingy so it was hard to tell. The faucets were loose and the lamp shades were barely hanging on. The drapes had definitely seen better days. The bed was comfortable and the sheets and towels were fine. The breakfast was fruit, cereal bars and coffee. I will not ever stay here again and couldn't wait to check out. The location is terrible for people who like to walk. I should've read the reviews a little closer. It was a waste of our Choice privilege bonus points.

This is one of the more affordable places in Duluth - clean, quiet room, and OK breakfast, friendly staff, good Internet service. Close to several decent restaurants and plenty of shopping, convenient to Highway 53. Nothing great, but no complaints at all. I would glady stay here again if I am in the area. Be careful of the parking lot - very rutted road leading into it.
