Detailed Reviews
We came into town for a family wedding scheduled during a weekend festival. We had a reservation at a smaller, independent motel—except they'd "lost" our reservation and had no room for us. I already knew every other place in town was full from when I'd made reservations online weeks before. I am a Wyndham rewards member, so I decided to at least try our luck (even though they'd been booked when I'd tried online reservations).
The registration clerk was so friendly and understanding. They had one accommodation left - a suite I expected to be way out of our price range and I thought would have a two night minimum limit that weekend because of the festival (as 90% of the lodging facilities in town were instituting). However, not only were we able to book just one night, with our member discount the suite wasn't much more than other places were charging for a standard room. It was a huge relief in an incredibly stressful situation.
The suite was roomy, clean and comfortable. The pool area was great. Breakfast was included the next morning.
I love Wyndham properties and have never been disappointed with our stays in any one. Now I've learned a valuable lesson when booking online—it showed no availability only for the room type I was looking for. If it happens again in future, I will call directly to ask what else is available at what price.
And . . . if all that wasn't enough to deal with, when we left the next day, my husband left his cell phone in the room. We didn't realize until we were nearly 50 miles away. I called the staff checked the room for us immediately and called back within 5 minutes. That was awesome because we still had family members in town who hadn't left yet and they were able to go pick up the phone, rather than us having to drive 50 miles back, or have them mail the phone.
All around what could have easily been a disaster, turned into an enjoyable stay for us.

Room Tip: I don't believe there was an elevator so those with mobility concerns should be sure to ask...

This is an older motel located just west of town on the highway. I stayed there several nights last August and was very pleased. They had just raised their rates from $33/night to $38/night but it's still an excellent value for a clean room in the area. It's nothing fancy and the room is compact but functional. There was a great tv with full cable lineup, but no premium channels. There was a coffeemaker in the room with complimentary coffee packets, a refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom wasn't cramped and featured a shower instead of a bathtub which I prefer since I have trouble getting in and out of a tub. There was a desk with a couple of chairs and it was a cozy room. The place and furniture were old. The a/c worked fine and there were no odors in the room. It was very clean. The biggest problem is being close to the tracks, when the train comes through at 5:15 am and blows the whistle, it's a bit noisy, however most all motels in town are located near the tracks so in the summertime if you want the windows open, you have that problem. I'll look at other places when next in the area to compare, but I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Americana again. Excellent value.
